  2. That was a very ingenious approach to a kind thought on your part. Very well done. Thanks for sharing it. ?
  3. It is just the same as L mount Leica cameras. Some are cheap, some are grab your ass expensive. https://petapixel.com/2019/02/26/sigma-to-launch-11-l-mount-art-prime-lenses-and-a-lens-adapter/ https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Leica+L+mount+adapter&i=electronics&ref=nb_sb_noss_2
  4. So you are saying a Sony a7s mk II is really only maybe 11 stops? Interesting.
  5. And no I would not take the Minnesota Drive or go to the Islands. Hell they are both on a fault line. Be my luck it would be time for the "Big One" LoL. Nice review by the way.
  6. I can tell you a camera with built in ND's is a total game changer. Now some of them do not go far enough with enough stops, but for most situations what they offer, say 6 stops is enough on average. It just makes your life a lot easier, even the Vizelex ND Throttle. Is it perfect no, and I have not tested it for light loss when it is at zero because there is a piece of glass there all the time. And no I have not noticed any light shift any worse than I have when I use a Vari ND in the front of the lens. But it takes one more problem you have off the table you have to carry, or fart with trying to screw on and off. You not only have to screw the damn thing on and off, but you pretty much have to clean both sides to be sure there is no fingerprints no matter how hard you try to handle them. And if you have a matte Box, Christ it is even worse. So yeah I think the Sony FS5 is for the money now a pretty serious camera. Even the good old Canon C100 has ND's in them. It just opens up so many more possibilities that can be done in an instant that makes your life better and your footage better to boot. When you are shooting Log footage all these cameras are forcing you to use high ISO's like it or not, so you really Have to have ND's. I have no clue why so few cameras have them in this day and age, especially mirrorless cameras. I will give Canon credit for at least trying with the EOS-R with their adapter, but heck it doesn't even work with the camera's native lens. Kind of silly. But better than others have done. So credit due to Canon.
  7. 10 bit, that is really interesting. I wonder what other Smartphone is 10 bit if any?
  8. I use Field Monitor and it has a lot of screen size options. Not much lag. I think it is like 20 dollars. Not sure if it does de squeeze? I only have a Anamorphic lens for my iPhone.
  9. I think one reason the A7s series does so well is SLOG2 and SLOG 3 are pretty damn complex Logs compared to most others. Now it has to be overexposed corectly, but it is pretty noiseless if done right.
  10. Well a lot of places claim 13 to 14 stops for film, but it is overrated just like Digital cameras are. In reality you can take off 2 stops on all of them and be pretty close in reality. So the 11 stops, maybe 12 are probably realistic for film. The A7s probably is more like 12.5 in reality, so it is close. Alexa probably is 13.5 stops. Trouble is there is no real true method for any of it. I think Highlight roll off is more important than DR. But you need both, and that is what makes an Arri King of the hill. Red cameras seem to have more DR but their Highlight roll off is not so hot I think. I am really not a big fan of their look output wise. It is more brutal than smooth. But high DR numbers is not so much of a big deal. Look at the Canon C100, probably 11 stops tops @ 24mbs at 8bit.. Defies logic.
  11. Speaking of rigs, this is just about an endless page of them plugging Movcam. These is some GAS on that page for sure. https://www.instagram.com/movcam/
  12. No they are a fine crafted jewel in your hand. Even the shutter sound on them is pretty amazing sounding. I think the output can be done a lot cheaper now on the digital ones, especially on the video side. You just over expose and sort of crush the blacks in B&W.. I have had a couple of the film bodies, digital ones are Way out of my range now. ?
  13. This video was filmed with the PK4 in cDNG, and a Mavic Pro Drone. To me the gap had changed so much to me at least it is hard to tell the difference between the PK4 and the Drone. And this is a pretty damn good video. I like the look of it. And I am not knocking the PK4. 4K is pretty much 4K no matter the camera if you are good at editing, Grading, Sure there is a difference between the PK4 and the Drone. But it is not huge anymore like it use to be. Good for everyone.
  14. Yeah but they bought out the D810 really quick because the focus problems on the D800 sucked ass, and they were afraid everyone would jump ship back to Canon. I doubt there would have Ever been a D810 if the D800 didn't have focus problems. I never wanted to buy a used D800 because I figured the reason it was for sale because it was a piece of shit focus wise. If I remember right the mirror box misalignment was the main problem. I think it was the first time they had used a plastic mirror box assembly instead of metal?
  15. I think I remember Grant Perry saying he was not impressed enough with ProRes Raw to bother with including it. Plus do you really want to pay Apple.
  16. Well adding braw sure didn't hurt sales of Studio Resolve. Only game in town.

    z6 vs XT3

So you Never want to shoot slo mo in 4K, or need it for sporting, wildlife, etc.? Or you don't care when you want to sell the camera down the road, or change your mind about 60p?

    z6 vs XT3

I just don't see why anyone would buy a camera that doesn't shoot 4K 60p in this day and age. Too many that do. I would take 8bit 4K 60p over 10 bit without it. Pretty limiting I think.
  19. Not impressed with his footage. But it's a first try.
  20. Yeah but it is pretty easy to do the Rawlite OLPF on one if you have 500 bucks just laying around! ? https://rawlite.com/
