Z Cam E2 will have ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FPS in 4K??
webrunner5 replied to IronFilm's topic in Cameras
Brain fart on my part. I was thinking SDI stuff. -
Yeah it is a Whole new world out there now. What was in in the past is just about to get gobbled up with just regular kind of people, doing stuff only a Hollywood studio could do 10, 15 years ago. Heck and a lot of it using a Smartphone. I really doubt any of us has a real clue where it will even lead 10 years from now, let alone 20. I bet it won't be something controlled by powerful people like it is now, but everyone that wants to can get a piece of the pie. Tech is moving at a mind bogging pace.

Your getting a bit old to carry all that stuff you know. ?

Not too sure I am liking how the word "the" looks on that graphic Glenn. The t looks like an E. Other than that I really like it.

Miller Air fluid head + solo 75 tripod - GH5 counterweight

I am beginning to think ALL the cheaper tripods and heads are crap anymore that are less than 1500 dollars, maybe more. I guess there is just too much competition to make a Great product any more on the cheap. -
That is a pretty Ghetto looking resolution chart LoL. ?

Canon EOS RP specs leaked, features 26MP sensor and 4K video

I don't think NASA has used a Nikon camera since the film days of the F4. Now they use a Panasonic camcorder it looks like. I am sure they use other brands though, maybe Nikon still? Can't find much New info. All the photos of the Astronauts are using REALLY old cameras that I have found. https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/research/experiments/974.html -
I think one thing that lately Panasonic has done is Stupid is they have now a upgrade path, but, but they all have different mounts now. The L mount on the S1, S1R, EF mount on the EVA1, Varicam, but you can get a PL mount on one. So that is 3 different lens mounts now counting m4/3. I think that is kind of stupid, and the EF mount on the top end stuff is sort of stupid anyways to be honest. You can't adapt shit to an EF mount. Oh I am not saying you can't shoot good video on one, but it doesn't have all the tools you need to do it like the GH5 does. If you buy the XLR thingy you damn near have a Cine camera in you palm that has IBIS, good IBIS with a GH5.
-
I think for Hobby use the X-T3 is probably better, but for serious stuff the GH5 wins. It also has that XLR thingy you put on the hot shoe. It is just a more Pro originated camera than the X-T3, but if I was traveling around the country just having a good time I would like the Fuji better I think.
-
Yeah it looks like they have all the major lenses covered. So I guess it boils down to if you want or don't want IBIS or use Anamorphic a lot, or unlimited recording, and longer battery life on the GH5. Yeah not an easy choice really. X-T3 a lot better Photo camera for sure.. I think for Hobby use the X-T3 is probably better, but for serious stuff the GH5 wins. https://fotodioxpro.com/collections/lens-mount-adapters/fujifilm-x-mount

Yeah but can you use a old Nikon, or a Minolta, Zeiss, etc on them like you can on a GH5? I don't know of Any lens you can't use somehow on a Panasonic, Olympus camera. What about EF, EF-S lenses?
-
I don't think you can just use any lens you please on them. There is very few native lenses that are worth a crap for video from any camera manufacturer. They all have click stops for Aperture, and short focus throws, and a lot of them are noisy as hell focus wise, and the focus, aperture rings are too close together on a lot of them..
-
Just asking, but isn't lens adaption sort of a problem for the Fuji cameras. I know it is no problem on the GH5. The native lenses Fuji has are sort of weak for video as a whole. Photo, yeah they are great. Few with OIS, and kind of jumpy aperture control in them, something linked to the mechanical Aperture control?, and some pretty noisy when focusing?

I really don't think it is going to be very easy to mix the two together. Most Panasonic stuff is pretty sharp, and most Canon stuff other than a C100, C300 is pretty soft. Not counting the Color Science difference. Best companion to the GH5 is another Panasonic camera like the G85 or G9. Even the GH4 has different looking CS. You have to be pretty damn talented with Grading to mix cameras. Why go to the hassle. Heck this new Canon cheaper FF camera might be a good option to start with on Canon. Personally I think FF is a total waste of time for Video. Almost everything you have ever seen in the last 10 years, or see now is shot in s35 unless it was shot on film. -

Maybe just wait until you get the cage and see if it works. It might? Yeah that tripod and head were really meant for Cine cameras like the C100 etc I guess with that much weight usage ability.. -
Pretty good breakdown of the P4, especially the recording media, and time recording. https://wolfcrow.com/important-quirks-and-features-of-the-blackmagic-pocket-cinema-camera-4k-for-video-shooters/

Yeah but doesn't all the sort of standout things the FS700 does is just in like 4 or 8 second bursts??

How fast do you need a lens to be? f1.4 is not exactly slow, and DoF would be pretty thin on FF. Hell they are big enough now, let alone making them bigger like that crazy 58mm f/0.95 S Noct MF Nikon Z lens is! -

I don't own a GH5, so there are lot more qualified people on here to suggest a good cage. Good idea for a cage, as some are pretty cheap to buy, and if you rig out a camera are darn useful for that. -

Well the big problem I see is that people think they are just going to be able to buy a Sony A6000 and throw on a old cheap 23 dollar Nikon, or Pentax lens from ebay and shoot Cinematic footage. There is a reason movies cost 100 million dollars to shoot. They have the very best cameras, lenses, lighting known to mankind, the best skilled people for every task that money can buy, best editors, graders in the world, and even then it takes them a year or two to make the film. And people expect that they are going to run around doing run n gun with that A6000, and come out with the same look as that movie, even shooting it in Raw., Good luck with that happening. This shit is Not easy to do without one hell of a lot of learned skill. The camera really doesn't matter to be honest. Biggest thing I see is hardly any one adds in Ambient sounds of the scenes being shot. Just a hooky music track that really has not much to do with the footage, and not much effort to even change the camera angle to get better natural, light let alone adding lighting. I know that stuff is not easy to do, but it is what separates the men from the boys. -

You can buy an old cheap ass recorder and get ProRes Raw out of pretty much any camera that has a HDMI port. And the vast majority of people will F up Raw footage to the point that it will look worse, not better. How many people on here is really worth a shit with grading Raw footage, let alone Bob down the street. Learn how to get it right in camera. -
You could buy a aftermarket lens for the GoPro to make it a bit less GoPro looking. https://www.peauproductions.com/collections/gopro-hero-7-6-5-lenses

Not the cheapest option but you could buy the Battery Grip to add some weight, or the XLR thingy on the top would add some weight also. A useful item. Or a cage I guess with a riser under it. Or go Ghetto and hang some weight on the handle near the head and move the camera body forward. -
Just buy the original BMPCC and most footage out of it will probably look Cinematic. Easy as that.
