  1. It is Braw is never going to look as good as the better Raw can look no matter how good you are. It is about the total editing process. Raw is not going to be some saving grace for the vast majority of people. It is just like Magic Lantern, it is a pretty big pain in the ass which most people are hardly qualified to use it to it's potential. What good is throwing a Lut on Raw and having every frame look alike. Sort of defeats the purpose of Raw. How many people on here have the skill to edit 30 minutes or more of Raw footage? Sort of a dream world scenario.
  2. Braw is limited to 12 bit. It is never going to be as good as Red Raw or Arri Raw, etc.. But yeah it ought to help out over what we have been used too. But people are going to have to really up their grading, coloring skills. Because of that I sort of doubt there will be a great reason to go that way. It might end up worse than better. ?
  3. Probably won't have 4K or DPAF. You have to cut corners some place. It will be a 6D mk I in a mirrorless body.
  4. I am saving up for a Arri Alexa. I have $133.00 now, so on my way. Thanks for your kind words.
  5. That ought to work. A RIg here showing one. Pretty big setup though for a H16.
  6. Wow this guy seems to be getting a pretty impressive look out of the little thing now with the new firmware. I really like what he did with it..
  7. Maybe the S1 Might have a BSI one??? From DPR. T"he S1R's sensor in particular has been designed to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio by using aspherical microlenses, a 'waveguide' to direct light into the pixel and deep photodiodes to more efficiently capture light. This sets it apart from the BSI approach (that puts the photosensitive area nearer the chip surface) used in the high-res cameras from Sony and Nikon."
  8. Yeah that had a lot of owners pissing their pants on here for awhile LoL. Wonder if that kid is in jail yet. ?
  9. Only 10 or 12 bits. A little bit better than 2K output. 10. I hope the hell she is good at remembering a Lot of Lyrics. Man they flat get it done on the dialog on some of them! ?
  11. Well BMD themselves sure never made that happen with the clips they supplied. That to me was pretty surprising. They did pretty well with the look that most seem to get out of it. Now I was not expecting a preset on the PK4 to look just like a OG BMPCC LoL, but it appears the reason there isn't one is it is not easy to accomplish I guess. Maybe you will make history and be Famous on here like @BTM_Pix
  12. Well sure, I think to stand a chance, the PK4 has to be shot in 1080p. I really believe that is why Arri never really wanted to go all the way to 4K on the Alexa is because it would have been too sharp. And I think the new Arri's have lost their signature look to be honest. I really have never like the Red output as of late. Too good. Even the original Red One looks better than the Red One Mysterium X. Same camera, so called better sensor, and it was DR and noise wise, but not looks wise. More resolution is not Always a good thing for a film look. But for Music videos, Doc, Interviews the PK4 is a Lot better than the OG BMPCC. And lets be honest that is where your money is if you are trying to make a buck. The PK4 is a great camera, it is, maybe amazing, but not for a grungy looking old school look. Nothing wrong with that. You can't have everything in one camera. The old no perfect camera thing. But 98% of the people will never know it. So the camera is a winner IF you can get one of them LoL. But sure I hope we all learn something here in this thread. Knowledge is a good thing. And maybe I will be proven wrong. Has happened a couple of times LoL. ? I am sure this can be done pretty close. Look how good @icarrere did with his GH5. There are parts in it where you could believe it was shot on the old BMPCC. He did a good job giving it an old time look. But it IS in 1080p. Probably one reason it looks so good, ehh to some bad LoL.
  13. He is really good at Architectural photos. He is working for Hasselblad now. He used to d a lot of great reviews.
  14. Wow you put your GH5 to good use! That is great. And not a lot of Slo Mo LoL. Glad it worked out. Boy too many people there for my liking. Not a fan of big cities, but a great place to shoot though. I really like what Ming Thein can do photo wise in big cities. He has the eye for it.
  15. Well if you go 35mm lens wise you are really never be able to hand hold it very well. But if you ever wanted to go with another camera other than the OG BMPCC, 16mm would not work on other cameras. No easy out unless you are "rolling in the dough" as they say. Plus 16mm stuff is cheaper to buy. There should be some good rigs around since the OG BMPCC is sort of out of favor. Lot of people used Anamorphic setups on them. But they are a m4/3 mount so the total rig would be a bit bulky. But the lens should be usable, and maybe they were using a adapter to get it to m4/3. You wouldn't need that. Do you have the rods or done the rod hack on it?
  16. I don't know a lot about HDR in video. But I am sure it has to be 10 bit or better and have a Log profile to do it. So no clue what per-pixel ADC helps on that part for HDR?
  17. Pretty much eliminates Rolling Shutter and helps with Banding. Two of the big gains.
  18. Yeah there are a heck of a lot more Photographers in the world than Videographers.

Yeah that whole rig is overkill for the average person. A C100 mk II and a Canon 100-400mm and a 1.4 extender would get the job done. I can't see a DSLR or a Mirrorless using gloves working as well as a Cine camera with all the buttons they have. But I guess a Smartphone could work LoL. Have to get a little closer to a Polar Bear than I would like but..
  20. Canon doesn't Own Metabones, and Canon doesn't have a Speedbooster??

Crazy price I know, but that rig I would guess is around a $100,000.00. But that is about as good as it gets for sports, wildlife especially if it was the FS7 mk II. And a person ought to be able to re coop your money back with deprecation and cash inflow in a pretty short time. I think in a way it is a bargain. You could do what few can. You can't make money doing what everyone else can do. And I think it would hold up and be a viable solution for quite a few years. I am sure it would be a good investment if you have talent, or learn to become talented LoL. I have spent a lot more than that on one piece of heavy equipment used even. It takes money to make money. No free rides. That is a actual case of GAS for sure. That would draw a crowd no doubt. ?
  22. Knowing your price range would help a bit. The prices go from, Oh God, to OH MY GOD!
  23. Yes almost Every camera has a higher bit rate in Photo mode than Video mode unless it has Raw Video. Even then it is probably lower. I don't care if Photo mode has 20bit output the higher you go ISO wise the less DR it has, it is as simple as that. You are applying gain to it and gain is noise. And a 5D mk III has about a whopping 9.5 stops of DR if you are Not using ML. 11 if you are using ML Raw. Photo is always about a stop and a half better than video mode in Raw on average. No clue about a Fuji X-T3. Don't care about it, ain't buying one. It's a Fuji, odd duck cameras. They always have some goofy ass sensor with Bozo the Clown colors.
  24. I think Blackmagic ought to at Least get off their ass and tell the truth up front right now what the hell is going on, and when they REALLY expect deliveries to All countries. I realize they are a small company, but you are allowed, no matter the size, to let people into what is happening. This shit does effect peoples lives, and livelihoods. Jesus.
  25. Nah they have Redlight cameras that can read the writing on a postage stamp 25 yards away. That is how they know your plates are expired. And some have AF. In this day and age blurry ass shots are becoming a thing of the past. There is a push for higher resolution. It is pretty much every camera out there has the opportunity to be replaced down the road. That is a HUGE potential market. Way more than hoping Bob or Mary Lou buy a cheap ass DSLR and a kit lens. Most existing cameras are 480p, 720p at best. HD alone would be an enormous upgrade.
