Shutter speed in essence has nothing to do with DR, only how it effects ISO. It really effects motion or cadence effect. The higher the ISO, unless it is a dual ISO sensor, the worse the DR is in both Photo and Video modes. And yes almost every camera has a higher base ISO in Video Mode than in Photo mode.

Hell I thought you were talking the differences LoL. I don't really think it is going to be the same ever. It is a Sony sensor. I don't care what you do with it, it is not going to look alike. And all the cameras that use that sensor really look alike. None of them look like a OG BMPCC. There has never been a camera that looks like the original C100. Even the C100 mk II doesn't look at all like it. Some cameras just have a certain, special look.

This shows a pretty good difference between what the PK4 mindset is for more of a Cine, Filmic look is than what Panny was doing to the GH5. Both have their place. A OG BMPCC would be even more gruff looking than the PK4. This video may have been here before. looks kind of familiar? Can you make them look alike, well yeah maybe, but not very easy to do. Now matching up with the GH5s might be a bit easier I would think.

Oh I will admit the temptation was there. It had amazing specs for the time. But I just couldn't warm up to the look. I had the GH3 at the time and that didn't up my love for Panasonic either LoL.

I Never owned one and Never wanted to even now. I know they sold a lot of them because of the 4K, but it just didn't have a great look to it. I am sure some poor, innocent, good minded people on here actually purchased them but LoL. If you could eat one it would be on the table at Thanksgiving time.?

Yeah but what is crazy all they have to do is bust their ass and hit 2 or 3 home runs and they are back on top. No holding back, balls to the wall. Now do they have the actual tech to do that, I don't know? But man they had better do that sooner than later, or their goose is cooked.

I can't say I don't like the look of the PK4 but it is not what I think of when I think of a BMD camera. It just looks too good, too clean. A trend for sure now, but not a trend that I would like to pursue. Now for Docs, interviews yeah the PK4 would be the way to go. To me the special look Blackmagic has is gone in this camera. But times are changing and they have to change also. And the price is right. A way better overall camera than the cheaper previous stuff. I think they did well. It will help young and old film makers learn the trade just like the original BMPCC, BMCC has. So that alone is a good thing.

I need to get out more I guess LoL. All I see is Smartphones taking pictures. I can't think of the last DSLR I have seen around here other than my son with his ML 5D mk III.. I haven't owned one myself for 5 years I guess. I would sure take a Canon 1D C but. For birding a D500 would work also I guess. But man the lenses needed, wow. They get just silly looking to be honest, not counting silly prices.

Also on this industrial market thing I think it is the cash cow Canon, and Sony, others are going to go for, and that is all this Security Camera boom going on. Man there is a camera every place you can put a camera. But I am sure there is a Huge market for more of them , and more of them that have higher definition. DPAF would be pretty sweet for a surveillance camera. You figure cameras for space, medical, heck just about anything you can think of uses cameras. I know Canon has been making industrial cameras for years, but most high end stuff I have seen has a Sony name on it. I am sure Canon wants to get a bigger piece of that pie, who wouldn't. I am sure it is a Much larger market than personal cameras and sort of never ending with tech the way it is going.

Hell just use a Zenmuse X5R on a Osmo handle. Even has Raw. Crazy stuff.

Yeah but a 50% drop would wipe out any profit margin. It is like canned vegetables. They only make penny's on the dollar per can, but they sell Millions of them a week. That is what Canon is, Quantity. They might as well shutter the plants right now if true.

If you can live with f2.8 lenses there are a Ton of Canon EF, EF-S lenses in that range. f1.8, well not so much.

It seems to me one of the revolving themes in all of this look, which I really like by the way, is they seem to use Film Convert a lot. So i am not too sure it is a camera, lens thing than more of a LuT thing going on. These people seem to be able to make pretty much any combo work because they have skill. I think the camera is the least of their worries.
