I like that idea. But you will change your mind even after you have it, you know you will, I Know you will LoL.

Yeah but I will tell you something. I have been taking video for a Hell of a lot of years of my family, and my TV Job, my advertising company, weddings, etc., 30 years easy. Now probably one main problem is I have moved so many times. But I have absolutely Zero, Nada, None, any footage of any of it left. It has all, and I mean tons of it either lost, thrown away, corrupted hard drives, hard drives that I can no longer use due to incompatible things, disappearing Thumb Drives, on and on. I have had, owned just about every type of video media you can have other than 1" tape. That was part of the problem. Things changed a lot. But guess what I have a hell of a lot of the photographs, well my daughter has them for safe keeping. Now I am talking a span of 50 years here now. Now the negatives, not so many. They were on digital media, Ahh the problem. But good old hard copy photos seem to last. Digital media not so much. So just be cautious as hell. You might find yourself in a situation where the media you have isn't even something you own, like a 8 Track Deck. Who has one of those, or a Hi 8 deck, mini DVD, Beta SP deck, who has one of those big things laying around? But most people have photo albums, even years and years later. Something to think about. You have been warned as they say.

EOSHD Opinion - The Sony A6400 is an absolute turkey
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
It is not a camera meant for us. But it sure is a camera you would want to give to your wife, girlfriend, children to take Photos and Video that are actually in Focus. Who doesn't want that. And Sony is Finally doing a half decent touchscreen, Yea, and a touch screen you can use in multiple positions. I think Sony has done some head scratching and come up with a fairly cheap, small, light, reasonable solution on the low end of their market. Like it or not I bet it will be a pretty big hit for them. -
The right place and the right time applies to a lot of great shots. But obliviously you can kind of anticipate some times and avoid pure luck. It helps to have a Lot of patience also. I find photography a LOT more relaxing, and in a sense more rewarding than video. To be able to capture something you feel that is great with a singe push of a button is quite a feat to be honest. And it is much easier to share your pride and joys to others with photographs than having them try, or even want to watch a video, especially a long, drawn out one. Plus you can hang a photo on a wall. ?

Speaking of Photos. Man there is some nice ones here. I can see why they were awarded. https://***URL removed***/photography/6987116741/slideshow-wildlife-photographer-of-the-year-people-s-choice-award-shortlist?utm_source=self-desktop&utm_medium=marquee&utm_campaign=traffic_source

Have you ever used B4 lenses on it? Amazing lenses for hardly any money.

Just because Casey Neistat quit doing doesn't mean everyone quit doing it. There is tons of 4K content on YouTube. And if you are using a normal Canon camera you really need to shoot in 4K and downsample. Other than the C series, most canon 1080p is really soft. Not a bad thing for what we like, but not what VLoggers want. I am on You Tube all day. Sure older stuff is 1080p, most new stuff is 4K. You really think people use 1080p on their Smartphones? Or going to use it on a Osmo Pocket, I really doubt that. -
EOSHD Opinion - The Sony A6400 is an absolute turkey
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Why, the M50 has Shit AF in 4K. The lenses are few and far between, and expensive. Tons of used lenses around for the A6400. And VLoggers prefer the flip up screen. I'd say it is more of a toss up. And actually Sony has way better upward mobility if you want to get serious about video. They even have a XLR thingy for the A6400 out. -
I sort of like the Nikkor lens better. The Zeiss is kind of Too good to be honest. Although in reality they are two different shots. The Nikkor is using it's f2.0 to the max LoL. You could have picked a warmer day to do this you know. Although the snow really adds to the scene. I hope those were screen gabs so you have some good footage to add.

I really have Never liked the Panny style flippy screen. For one reason I am nearly blind in my left eye, and guess which way almost Every flip out screen goes, even on Cine camera, not counting I am left handed! Plus you have to move your face away from the back of the camera. But no I won't buy one because I, at my age, Need to have a EVF to look into. My arms aren't long enough as they say to use a LCD. ? I think they made the right decision for Vloggers with the flip up screen. I wonder if the 1080p is worth a crap. Because the A6300 was Terrible @1080p, now the 4K was pretty good. I never wanted a A6000 series camera because my hands are Way too big to use a body that little. But the A6000 was a damn good camera back in the day. -

The A6400 is a killer camera for the price. The people buying them are not going to be making 3 hour Feature films with them. Just about any new camera now is better than any older camera made 5 years ago. Even old Cine cameras. Great AF, touchscreen, face, eye detection, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS , on and on. Heck you can have a Arri Alexa, doesn't mean you can use it worth a crap. More money has nothing to do with it. You can buy an old BMPCC for 350 bucks that knocks your socks off. People want it because of the flip up touch screen and great AF, and the price. -
Santa was Damn good to you!

Sony will sell them as fast as they can make them. For the money what else you going to buy? And the average person has no clue what RS even is. It is no worse RS wise than the Sony A7s. People seemed to be able to make that camera work. It's a 800 dollar camera. You aren't going to get a Arri Alexa for that money -
I thought you owned a a7III?
-
I bought it in 1966 from the Naples, Italy Navel station duty free store. I think it was around 355 dollars without taxes, or duty fees which I didn't have to pay. Funny My father was a Radio operator in the Navy, and I am a Ham radio operator since I was 11. Haven't done any of it for years and years. Picture even sort of looks like him! He was a radio operator for Admiral Halsey in WW II. I think there were four operators that went anyplace the Admiral did. They changed ships like every 2 to 3 weeks to not be detected. My father was on a TON of ships. He was in 4 years like me.

Yeah just the Word Leica on there is like you caused the Black Plague. Only new Leica I ever bought was a M3. Could barley afford a lens for it at the time LoL. I have always wanted to buy the Leica M Monochrom. Never seem to have the money. Actually Sigma Foveon cameras are damn good for B&W.

Oh I agree 8K frame grabs will become the norm down the road for Photography. I doubt there will even Be a Photo mode in cameras years from now. Just 8K bust mode or better.

I think Both Panasonic and Olympus screwed themselves with the pricing of the GH5, GH5s, EAM1 mk II. Hell you can buy a FF Sony a7 III for the same or less. Now you can buy the Z6, EOS-R, XT3 for the same or less. They have shot themselves in the foot big time. And now this A6400. I really do think m4/3 is in big trouble. Even if you bring out a GH6 for 1500 bucks it pisses off all the people that bought the GH5, GH5s. They can't win now. Not with this A6400, X-T3, PK4 out. And that is not counting this new Panasonic S1 FF line. The lower one can't cost more than 2500 bucks or they are screwed right out of the box. So what, they going to charge 2500 bucks for a GH6?

For weddings that thing is a god send. You can't be racking off 12 FPS in a church. At some point in time you will not be able to have newspaper, TV people doing it. It is distracting as hell. And what about wildlife. Hell I would kill for it.
-
AF on the a7r mk II at the time was pretty good, even with Canon lenses, but it was, and isn't really great. I was going to buy one for wildlife, BIF stuff, and talked to several people that owned them, and they said to pass on it because of sluggish AF, was how most described it. The newer cameras now are better. I guess Video AF is not an easy task to do.

Hmm LoL. Not good.

But..But I Love Amazon! Even though I have been banned on the DPR Sony forum for 4 years LoL. I don't spend 15 minutes a week on DPR anymore I will admit.

First thing BM would have to do is invent AF on it. Ain't happening. -
Not counting the A6300 doesn't have a touchscreen.
