Why I am not surprised LoL. ? -
I read someplace it was a m4/3 sensor with a m4/3 mount.

I don't think this has been posted yet from Tom Antos? Might want to look at it if you are using an external monitor with it. Some good tips.

Yeah I am amazed how much the GH5s is still going for myself. Maybe they are selling more of them than we think!!

I think you might have misread what I said. IF I had the money I would buy one, but I don't. Why do I want to hassle with a Gimbal when it has it in there. No Smartphone is worth a crap stability wise. And they are getting way to expensive to risk dropping. I would bet there were a good amount of them under the Christmas Tree this year, at least in this country. Is is perfect, heck no, but for the average person, maybe not most people on here, it is a Whole lot better solution than they have. You act as if every time a person goes out they are shooting a Feature film. Why not just take footage to have fun. If you just go downtown, to the zoo, a walk along a river, a drive in the country, an amusement park on and on, it is all you need. Way better stabilized output than your phone, and it weighs even less than your phone. And it is more stealth than a phone even. I sure as hell am not walking around all those places using a g7xII, a Sony RX100, a M50, by the time you use them you might as well use a EM1 mk II or a Panny G9. Then you will stand out with all if them, and you have to look at the viewfinder, just like you do with a phone. And mess with lenses, bah no way. As a man you can just stick the Pocket in your front shirt pocket. I would bet every kid in the world would love one. A person's wife would like one. That is who will buy them, and why not. I doubt Steven Spielberg bought one. But you never know. I am still convinced it is a pretty amazing item, useful when I am not trying to make something pretty amazing footage wise, which never happens by the way. So if it sucks, usually does, I can blame it on the Osmo. I can just say a person on here said it would happen by the name of @Kisaha?

Yeah the g7xII is a great camera. And I am just going to make do with my Apple XS I guess. I have a Stedicam Volt for it, and a Rode mike, Moment Anamorphic, Tele lens, on and on, but that stuff is all a pain in the ass to carry, setup and use. That is the draw to me of the Osmo Pocket. it is just easier and simpler to use, cheaper also, and I doubt the output is that much worse other than the Anamorphic part to be honest on just casual stuff. And that is what I am using the iPhone for.

Every battery for their Drones sucks ass for longevity. I am not surprised it isn't going to last to forever. But you really think you are going to keep it for 3 years. Well I guess you will have to send it in and have it replaced just like you have to on a Apple iPhone. I don't see people stop buying them because they can't change them. Is it a great solution, hell no. But what else you going to buy to replace it that does what it does?? You really can't hand hold a GoPro. And the Hero 7 is terrible in low light. I think for a first effort it is pretty good. Does it have warts, well yeah. I am sure version 2 will be a better product, and I am sure some Chinese company will come out with a clone that has a removable battery for 150 bucks.
-
Yeah but the negatives you state are present in every Smartphone, GoPro. Plenty of people seem to make them sort of work. I don't think for 350 bucks we are going to get, well hell I can''t think of anything that is great on all accounts, even if it is 50,000 bucks. Hell according to lots of people on here the Z 7 kind of sucks at AF, the PK4 isn't going to win a shootout. No IBIS in it, the X-T3 seems gimpy with no IBIS. My iPhone XS gets hot when I do 4K for long periods. It is not so hot for IBIS either. Audio isn't as bad as the Osmo I guess, but is it great? Is in body audio good in the EOS-R, doubt it. We know it's not so hot in the Panny G80/85 with the IBIS whirring. I am at a loss of words that any damn camera is worth a crap that i can think of, that just works out of the box, and it is cheap, and any of the accessories you Have to buy are cheap as hell. It is an inexpensive item that works pretty amazingly well for the money I think. Is it Pro grade, no. Are most of the cameras people on here own themselves Pro grade, I doubt it. I can't even afford right now to buy the Osmo Pocket. I just bought a slide in truck camper. So I am not buying anything camera related. I can see your concerns. But for the money I would not have thought I was buying a, well we are back to what again is really worth a crap hand held, let alone that is cheap.

Yeah there is not a Lot of difference between the examples in either video. Not surprisingly they both drop down in sharpness the lower the bit rate. So even the proxy is usable if it is not being used for Pro work I would say. The colors stand up so that is a plus. I mean low bit rates can work, look at the Canon C100. Of course it is being down sampled from 4K, so that helps it out a lot.

I think you are being kind at 1800 dollars. That sounds like a blind date, Oh but she has a Really nice personality. Pass. ?

"Where Canon is going with the R series?" - IR exclusive interview
webrunner5 replied to Kisaha's topic in Cameras
That might change when Nikon comes out with the new D5s, or D6 what ever they call it. Looks like Nikon is going hog wild on the video side. Fuji also. I don't think Canon can afford now to hold back on anything going forward. Nikon might hand their ass to them. This is getting damn interesting. -
Will often use my camera, damage it?
webrunner5 replied to @yan_berthemy_photography's topic in Cameras
No you can get, or have Hot Spots, Hot Pixels on a brand new camera. Few people check their camera for them. Some brands are better at mapping them out. -
The stand alone one has the best stabilization I think. I think it is called the X3. It can be bought cheaper than the Osmo Pocket used. But it is pretty big. The Osmo 2 uses your smartphone. If you have an older phone I would go with the Osmo Pocket.
-
I would say yes on the Osmo 2.

webrunner5 replied to @yan_berthemy_photography's topic in Cameras
Some will develop Hot Spots. But some cameras have an automatic, or a user way to map the sensor to kind of disable that pixel. But it isn't always very effective. You really on average can't "wear out" a modern sensor. -
Yeah but from what I know the X Trans thing is an overlay mask on a standard Sony Sensor. So it is sort of a hybrid sensor. So who knows if it can or can't yet?

I have never seen where you can shoot full 1080p Raw continuous? Cropped, for short times yeah. -
Nikon Z6 / Z7 to go RAW with Atomos Ninja V - could Panasonic be next?
webrunner5 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Yeah but I would imagine there is a hard limit to how much the Processor can do. I am sure it is not at the very top on delivery point, but I bet they are not crazy overdeveloped. With all this AI stuff like Apple is now using in their iPhones there will have to probably be a Huge need for a lot better processor every year, not just using it for several generations like they have done in the past. I don't envy any of them. A product you have now could be outdated before you can actually get it out the door, which seems to be the case I think with the Sony a7s mk III. -

webrunner5 replied to Kisaha's topic in Cameras
Well maybe they just really can't produce a good enough Sensor or Processor to get the job done? Or a combination of both? They may just be that far behind, say Sony. And I can see Canon's point about not having Raw or 4K back then. It would Have to be reliable and not overheat, and it would have to last a LOT longer in duration than what ML can do recording wise. Nobody would buy a camera that can only work for a limited time, and just be totally unreliable when you need it. Now maybe they could have done 2K. I don't know. 2K is a pretty big jump up from 1080p. -
any Thunderbolt 3 users? cheap way to test connection?
webrunner5 replied to buggz's topic in Cameras
What kind of monitor you have? Isn't a Thunderbolt 3 port usable as a Display Port? No I/O data, well it would show output, not input, but you would know it is active. -
Yeah but doesn't the Z Cam E2 do like 4K 120p? So it seems like maybe it can be done?

What Do Y'all Think of The Kinefinity Mavo LF?
webrunner5 replied to Zach Goodwin2's topic in Cameras
Yeah between the PK4, this Nikon announcement, the X-T3, hell even a new iPhone XS, people better re think the pricing on all this higher end stuff. The days are numbered charging 50,000 bucks for a camera I don't care who makes it down the road. Even 3500 dollar DSLR, Mirrorless cameras are DOA down the road. You are getting ripped off in this day and age for that stuff it seems.
