  1. I think most of the better stuff has had the option to back up files simultaneously for a long time. It would be awful risky to shoot a long take with a million dollar actor and the One card failed. It is I guess one of the reasons high end Cine cameras always cost as much as a house. Yeah my Panasonic AF100 could do that also. Nice peace of mind even for a short take. Buy yes you are right XQD cards seem to be better built. But Anything can screw up. I remember on my Canon 1D mk III I bent the pins in the CF card slot on time putting it in. I could never use it again. I had to use the SD card slot from then on. Shit happens like it or not.
  2. I haven't had a drink of anything in over a month. Not even last night. Stayed home and watched the ball drop on the web. Too old to drive at night anymore LoL. Not an Apple iPad Pro? I thought you were poor? ?
  3. Sounds like a nice Gimbal for your needs. Thanks for the help.
  4. Admit it, it's a cheap ass design. Stupid decision, especially on the Z7. It will cost them sales. Accident waiting to happen. It is not like the damn things are a 500 dollar entry item.
  5. Actually it is pretty amazing that Canon even put a mike jack in it to be honest. ? Does anyone know if there is a way to show audio levels on the LCD screen to make up for a lack of a headphone jack?
  6. Thanks. 1139.65083g for our misguided friends LoL. That is really not a lot less than a Ronin-S or a Crane 3. 1 1/2 pounds less. That adds up over a long period, but a lot more useful for more camera options going with the bigger ones. But how do you like the Weebill Lab since you have one? Things that weigh a pound LoL. https://www.bodyrock.tv/weighs-one-pound/
  7. Oh my God don't let @mercer see that! ?
  8. If you have small shorts, or little clips I don't think Proxies are worth the effort. It is when you shoot long takes, or entire projects you really don't have much choice. Just make damn sure you have the files backed up first. Anything can happen when you edit. One wrong button push, Yikes! You can buy old HDD for peanuts these days to back stuff up. Takes awhile on them but..
  9. Yeah I think you have to get them for the original vendor. So that means a phone call and a wait time. But that is a pretty amazing deal I think. And I am not sure you can't just run it off of external batteries anyways?? Not ideal but you are talking a hell of a camera for cheap if you can get a battery.. I am sure @BTM_Pix can come up with a solution if you can't for a price LoL.
  10. When you are an old turd like me you NEED IBIS or a great Tripod! I think some of the stuff you see that looks bad has more to do with You Tube compression than real fact. But I will admit Canon has done a pretty good job with their in lens stabilization. But adding IBIS would not hurt, especially for a mirrorless camera. Not being able to use non native lens with no stabilization sort of sucks when you need it. Kind of the draw about mirrorless.
  11. There is even a good You Tube video that shows how to change the battery on them. Like a 10 minute job! If i had the money I would buy one of the in a heartbeat.
  12. There is a slight loss overall when you do it, but if you have an older PC, Mac you don't have any choice. Pretty simple as that. When you win the Lotto you can buy a $30,000.00 editing kit like @Emanuel has LoL. He is not in the picture, he went to get his Caviar and Brandy. ?
  13. Trust me they are Sony sensors made to Nikon specs, made in Sony fab machines. And Canon has been using Sony sensors for years in their cheaper P&S, and 1' cameras. Canon is so far behind Sony and Samsung they will Never catch up. They shit around way too long. They can not afford the R&D and Fab plants to even do it now. Sony has the market sewed up. If Canon had not lucked out and thought about DPAF they would be a nobody in this day and age. Who ever the engineer was that invented it they ought to give them the keys to Canon. It has somewhat saved their ass. Most everyone else has caught up with Canon on the Color Science part. The GH5s, A7 III look Canonish as hell. Same with the Venice Sony CS. Canon is a one trick pony in this day and age now. And with eye and face detect now it is becoming less of a great need. Hell I really like Canon, but they are just plain stupid as of late. This intentional gimping crap is just that, crap. The EOS-R actually is a glorified M50 to be honest for 4 times the price!
  14. Yeah I like them also, but sad to say they are not so hot in low light and DR either. And the newer look is in no doubt. Almost every camera now has it. Big problem I guess is that almost all of them have a Sony processor in them. So no surprise they sort of look the same LoL. Latest rumor I heard is that even Canon maybe using Sony sensors in their APSC cameras down the road. Tremendous R&D costs to keep up with Sony on Sensors.
  15. Just go to one of the benchmark places and that is the best way to see. Nobody needs the top one on the list but there is some cheaper options a person needs to consider. But yeah stick with a GPU with at least 6gb or more. It does depend on what NLE you are using I guess. But like I said I like to somewhat future proof myself a little bit. Now if that was the RX 580 Crossfire that would be a great GPU. But is will kind of get the job done. Not the worse choice out there. The 8gb part is nice. https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Radeon+RX+580&id=3736
  16. Yeah but I believe most of the older ones look better than the newer ones output wise. I am not really impressed with any of the newer stuff. But I do like the M50 output in 1080p. As for low light, yeah they sort of suck. But plenty of cheap lighting out now, and if you plan ahead you can always find a place that has decent lighting. A street light, a store front. Indoor lighting at a bar, restaurant really add to a great look. I think it adds character more than takes away from it.
  17. I think I would go with a bigger power supply, that is just about minimum this day and age, But that CPU is pretty good yet in this day and age. And I just don't think that GPU is going to make it for 4K usage. It is below a GTX 970, and that is not so hot either now. Look at buying a used GPU. Gamers are always upgrading, dumping their last year high end stuff. Buy it off Amazon, you can always send it back if it is not as described. Even Craigslist in the states has some good buys on gamer stuff used. And I hope your eyesight is pretty good. A 25" monitor in this day and age is pretty damn small for editing. I know people use Laptops to edit, but if you look at them straight on their eyeballs are crossed LoL. There is tons of 27's out. 2K is not too bad, but now with HLG, HDR maybe time for a 4K monitor? A sort of future proof purchase. Again a used one is not the worse thing. A lot of gamers are going to 120 hz ones, so 60 hz ones are around used.
  18. Yes they are the same sensor. Adorama has like three of the BMPC 4K's for 699 dollars each. They all need an internal battery that cost like 80 dollars to buy. Amazing price for such a good camera. https://www.adorama.com/us 1056841.html
  19. Pretty good low light test of the Osmo Pocket versus the iPhone XS at night. I thought they both did pretty amazingly well for what they are until the end when the guy was talking up close. Things have really jumped up quality wise as of late.
  20. Yeah I think one of them is dedicated to just the Focusing Module.
  21. I don't think the Dell XPS 9570 is a great idea. It is a turd according to Amazon. I guess if you get a good one but.. Not many others people reviews around? https://www.amazon.com/product-reviews/B07D3M3377/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_hist_1?ie=UTF8&filterByStar=one_star&showViewpoints=0&pageNumber=1
  22. Yeah but the money you paid for that MBP I can build a Desktop that would knock you socks off. Sure if you need the portability, yeah you have to go Laptop. It is reasonably cheap to build a box yourself. There is always scratch and dent, open box, display stuff around for a great savings.
  23. I think for Resolve users a Laptop might be the last thing you want. Most are pretty far behind on the GPU side that is anyway affordable. And hardly any you can upgrade. That is mostly the problem with most Apple computers, even the iMacs, weak GPU's. And it seems only the gaming ones on the PC side have great GPU's in them. And I am not too sure even they would be a good choice when you figure how long some of the render times can be in video. You know they would throttle down because of heat issues. I think a PC desktop is the only good, cheap way to go to be honest. I guess a hackintosh works also. I mean my Desktop has 9 fans in it and 1050 watt power supply. And it can be water cooled, I am not using that option, but it is set up for it. Now I don't have a super powerful set in this day and age, but when I bought my case and power supply I went over the top for future upgrades. No Laptop is going to be able to do that. I am only running a i5 6600 @ 4200Mhz overclocked, 16gb ram with a GTX 980 in it, but it seems to get the job done for what I do. No speed demon though now. Was a couple years ago LoL. Plus it has 11 bays in it and 2 dedicated SSD bays, and room for 2 power supplies. So I can put a whole raid system right inside my case. Desktops have a pretty big advantage if you buy the right case, and they are really not that much money to be honest. I think I bought mine for 145 dollars. It was a display model at Micro Center. Was like 220 dollars normally. Crazy thing is it has no place for a CD, DVD player! Crazy LoL. I have an external Blu-Ray, DVD player.
  24. Not much worth it for Resolve. Pretty much a GPU driven NLE software. https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Are-the-9th-Gen-Intel-Core-Processors-good-for-video-editing-1256/
  25. It is just a lot easier to read a smaller sensor line by line fast enough. Pretty amazing that the BMD Ursa Mini had a Global Shutter for what it cost originally being s35..
