It's true the GH5 is cheap. I will probably need another camera to complement the GH5 by October. As it stands right now I'd probably get the GH5S as would cover low light as well. Some of the work I do is setting up 2 or 3 static cameras to film a course, presentation etc. The Panasonics are great for this as they record for hours. Right now I'm using a GH5, a GX85 and usually hire another GH5/S if I need another camera. But with a job that is looking like it'll be confirmed soon, hiring makes no sense. The GH5S is around 1950€ here, the GH5 1550€ and the S1 2500€ aprox. I think the GH5S is a bit over priced. I'm hoping it'll have a price drop in September

Sounds good. I think having magnification to check focus when recording as well as more accurate battery levels would be a great help. GH5s low light at least.

Soooo...when's it happening? Will be looking to buy a new camera this autumn to complement my GH5. I'd really like to see what the GH6 offers before going for a S1 or Blackmagic 4k. GH5S just seems too expensive nowadays. Will be selling my Canon C100. Lovely camera but I hardly ever use it anymore.

Panasonic S1 V-LOG -- New image quality king of the hill
Thpriest replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Have you tried it with the Sigma apsc lenses like the 18-35 1.8? -
Thanks for all your opinions
-
Interesting. Does that work with all video files? I'm mainly using GH5 4k mov files (10 and 8 bit)
-
Cool. What's the image quality like? The same (albeit aps-c)? What about AF? I'm mainly interested in AF to find correct focus and then adjust manually. Thanks!
-
Maybe this is a stupid question, but will aps-c lenses like the sigma 18-35 1.8 work with this adaptor on the S1? I've seen people using it for video. I'd imagine it would vignette or is there some voodoo magic?

I'm increasingly having to share huge amounts of video files with clients (50-200gb a go). I had previously been using Myairbridge (in blocks of 50gb) but I've become tired of clients not downloading things on time etc. So i'm looking for relatively large storage (2TB) where I can store, back up and share several projects. Needs to be fast upload/download. Google drive is 99€ per year for 2TB. Are there any alternatives I should be looking at?

I don't know if it would be possible but I'd like a Lumix speedbooster type adaptor (with NDs) to use L mounts 'natively'. That would really help me buy into Lumix family.

Word of warning on the Tascams. They have failed me and have become unreliable. I got sent instructions on how to fix them and will try to do so but...
-
It depends on the work you are doing. The GH5 is the only 'photo' camera that can really act like a video camera when it comes to things like long recording times. I've had one running nonstop filling 2 128gb cards (4k 8 bit) in a conference with sound fed to the xlrs. I'm not sure any other similar camera could do that. Video is not just films and short fancy edits.

Help The Camera Manufacturers Make Better Cameras: Part 2
Thpriest replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Being able to punch in to check focus whilst filming is what I miss the most on the GH5 (coming from a C100). And internal NDs. -
By ETC do you mean the kind of sensor crop zoom? I have found it works with no loss in 4k but with HD it looks crap, very noisy. Am I doing something wrong?
-
Thanks! I'll check that out!

Thanks for responding. I'm not sure what you mean exactly! *Edit. Now after my coffee I realise what you are talking about! I tried plugging in my headphones to the output but I heard nothing (I'm not sure if that should work or not).

Hi, I have a Tascam DR 10C which has stopped working. It seems fine but no sound is detected from any lav mic. I have found another forum with people complaining about similar problems: http://www.tascamforums.com/threads/dr-10cs-10c-no-input-audio-anymore-broken.4179/ Anyone else experienced this and found a solution? Thanks

GH5s in a C100/XC10 form (or even Sony VG30 form) would be great. A real lightweight all rounder.

Give in to temptation!

We do corporate, events and weddings etc. Lots of competition on price everywhere and very difficult to compete. An example would be a wedding we quoted for and the couple ended up with someone they found on Instagram who did all the fotos for 160€ including 20 prints. I have no idea how they make a living out of that.

What's the monitor like for focussing? I bright light (with sunhood)? I'd be using it with a GH5 in 4k (50p and 25p 10bit). I want something better than the EVF
-
great. how does it perform in bright daylight? I'm really just looking for a monitor for focussing and checking exposure.
-
Anyone tried the Swit 55c? How does it compare to these other options?
