  1. Strange time to go when they are supposedly only a few weeks away from announcing 2 new cameras. Maybe it would be better to wait a few weeks more and see what they are going to release? Although if it's about weight and cost then fair enough.
  2. I thought those Sigma 1.4 apsc lenses didn’t have great af?
  3. I really like the Lumix 1.8s. I have the 24 and 50. I don’t think you can go wrong with them.
  4. Panasonic should have included the 28 f8 pancake for free with the S9. That would have been good marketing. A camera which comes ready to shoot.
  5. I was about 16 when Twin Peaks came out. It really was the most mind blowing original TV and has probably not been bettered.
  6. I think the S5mk2 is about the perfect size for a pro camera, it’s not too big but it is big enough to have great ergonomics. I’d be happy with a S1Hmk2 with the same body but with a top evf and lcd (along with 6k 50p etc)
  7. With a better screen and viewfinder?
  8. Xmas dinner with wife, young daughter and some friends till 3am on the 24th then a BBQ on the terrace on the 25th with the same small group. Relaxed and fun. Just bought a whole load of gear the last 2 months so I hope I can restrict my purchases to just a Sigma 16-28 f2.8 for the S5mk2 in 2025. Maybe a better VND system...ach!
  9. Meike have released some for L mount. Josh Cameron reviewed one I think.
  10. The Lumix 1.8 primes are great, the best I’ve used for video. I’d love the Tamron 20-40 f2.8 on an L mount (or a Sigma equivalent).
  11. I don't get "there aren't any lenses" talk. There are less lenses available than to a Sony shooter but there are plenty of lenses and more are appearing all the time. What lenses do most people really have? A 24-70 f2.8, maybe a wide or tele zoom depending on their work and 2 or 3 primes. You can easily have a decent L mount kit that covers most needs.
  12. Whilst I think many points about Panasonic's marketing and missed opportunities are true I think the bottom line is that they are the best value all rounders combining competitive pricing, excellent ergonomics and features. For years I've been using Lumix cameras for all sorts of work, high end fashion videos, corporate videos, long form recording (hours of conferences and they've never over heated), events (photo and video), weddings (photo and video)...they just work. In the past they had one major compromise, DFD, but even then they had the best EVFs (S1H and S1) and LCDs and other tools that made MF easier than on most cameras. I can have 2 Lumix bodies and lenses for the same price as a Sony and one lens equivalent and then camera is more enjoyable to use (other than AF possibly). That is Lumix's key strength. It's what they should focus and build on.
  13. Lumix really need to get the S1 and S1H replacement right, specs and price. I feel it could be the last roll of the dice for a great brand. If they get is right they can build on the S5mk2's success, if not...💩 Still, they should get me through the next 2-3 years.
  14. I used to really enjoy filming with the Voightlander 17.5mm 0.95 on the GH5. I filmed several weddings without changing the lens and really liked the results.
  15. So you’ve finally decided to move on from Lumix! All Sony or Nikon as well?
  16. Ok, it was the DJi Zenmuse x5. The same set up with a modern PDAF sensor and I’m in!
  17. I thought other manufacturers would follow Blackmagic’s lead with the big screen the put on the Pocket 6K (I think 🤔). Seemed a good idea at the time. I think the fact that these cameras are still based on “photo” cameras is part of the problem.
  18. Wasn’t there a kind of preRonin 4D that was like a bigger Osmo Pocket but with a M43 sensor and interchangeable lenses? That would probably be the sweet spot if it had the latest M43 sensor (or the GH5S sensor).
  19. Good point that BF are not always the only deals. I just bought a second hand but brand new/never used Lowepro bag for 30€. They are over 80€ new. So there are great deals to be had in the second hand market too.
  20. I have taken advantage of some BF deals, A Crucial 2TB SSD with 23% off and a compact pair of cob lights with 20% off. Every year I need more hard drives and it was time to replace my lightweight leds with I've had for years but offer way less light for the size compared to the latest on offer. As my aim is to make everything smaller and lighter I'm happy to change now.
  21. I'm undecided as to whether 6K 30p or 4K 50p (cropped) is best for weddings. 30p to 25p does give a little bit of almost slomo but it's not really the same as 50p slomo. I'm thinking a Lumix GH5 or G9 with a long compact zoom might be a good option for a second or third ceremony camera. I used my "new" GX80 as a third cam this weekend so I'll see how it cuts with the S5mk2 and S5. I was using it as a wide shot but I saw the potential benefits of M43, mainly the lens size which when lugging a lot of gear about is important.
  22. I could be interested! How much are you looking for it?
  23. I regret not picking up an S9 with the 20-60 that was open box for 1200. Having recently bought a secondhand GX80 with unlimited 4K recording (I used to have one before moving to FF) I have been reminded of the joys of small powerful cameras. I’d love a new GX80 with PDAF etc but meanwhile I’ll keep an eye out for a S9 to go with my S5mk2. I would happy sell my S5 og because I don’t like having to waste time matching the cameras and to lighten my backpack. Has anyone tried the Sigma APSC lenses? The 10-18 and 18-50 for 4K 50p?
