  1. Do you think the EVF is good enough for manual focusing in run n gun situations? I use focus peaking with my Voigtlander and SLR Magic lenses on the GX85 but on the LCD screen it's sometimes hard to get it right when shooting outside. I'd rather a good EVF than attach a loupe to the LCD screen.
  2. Interesting. Can you show us where you have seen other reports of this? I have been considering buying the camera but that would be a big no no!
  3. A 4k 50p C100mk3 would be great with at least 120 slomo. As far as budgets go markets in different parts of the world are very different. After experimenting a bit with the Lumix line I can see the attraction of a lightweight camera with IBIS but the images I can get out of my C100 are much nicer IMHO and I'm not sure they really can replace the C line from Canon as the Canons are so well designed for getting the job done. Now a C100mk3 at 4000€ as a B cam to the C200....hmmm. The ideal system would be: A cam C700, B cam C300/200, C cam XC10/C100mk3 or A cam C300, B cam C200/C100mk3, C cam XC10/C100(mk1 or 2) or A cam C200, B cam C100mk3, C cam XC10/C100(mk1 or 2) or A cam C100mk3, B cam XC10/C100(mk1 or 2) All depending on your budget and what you shoot. This way you'd have a clear route to upgrade or downgrade.
  4. For many people paying 8000€ is a lot of money and a B cam would need to be a lot cheaper. Many budgets can't justify 2 C200s although 1 of them would be great. I think that if the XC10 had a wider and faster lens it could well be a B/C cam but the lack of width and speed hold it back for some event and live work. I'd like a C100mk3 that was more like a XC10 in weight and size with light 4k files internally but I doubt it will happen! I have a C100 and it's been a great camera but like many I'm not really sure where to turn to next.
  5. Great video. A lot of work went into that. amazing what you can do with a GX80 and a bit of imagination!
  6. Haha, yeah I guess but maybe the second child will be the child we always really wanted... If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
  7. Can we not get the Canon C200 and the GH5 to have a love child which weighs the same as the GH5 and has 5 axis stab but has Canon look and ergonomics? Who's going to be first to leave the 2 cameras alone in a room together...
  8. Andrew, what is it you dislike about the GH5? I mean do you prefer other cameras for general video shooting, walk about photo camera...?
  9. This looks a great camera but too expensive for my clients and line of work. I'm hoping this means Canon rethinks the C100 mk3 and makes it a slightly more compact and lightweight camera for run and gun. Maybe somewhere in-between the XC10 and the C100mk2 in size (with interchangeable lenses of course). Bonus features would be some kind of in body stabiliser and in cam mic (of reasonable quality). It could feature 4K 50p 1080 120p in camera but the higher end codecs you would need an Atmos or whatever. I mean make the C100 a great lightweight handheld b cam to the C200 and C300 or a quick turn around run and gun cam. (I know the C100s are kind of like that but in my experience they are still plenty heavy when run n gunning all day and after having used a camera with in body stabilisation I clearly see the benefits for handheld work) Make it 3000-3500€ and they'd have real winner on their hands.

    Gh5 or 5d mk iv?

I have the Canon C100 mk1. It's a brilliant camera with a rubbish EVF and a poor LCD. It just produces great images and is quite forgiving. I am considering a GH5 for run and gun shooting, docs and weddings etc. Sometimes the C100 is just too heavy to lug around all day with a couple of lenses and a monopod. It's still great for most of my corporate work but I am really considering a GH5 lightweight kit, camera 3 lenses and freedom.....still a lot of money though
  11. Very nice but isn't she a bit young to be getting married??? Seriously, nice images. Can I ask what lenses and settings you are using for your weddings?
  12. How did you find the GH5 performance at the wedding? What lenses did you use? Lowlight? Focussing?
  13. I have. It's ok, quite fast, small and cheap. I don't like how the manual focus works. If you are on a budget it is a good fastish* native prime to get started with if you are moving on from the native zooms. I consider 0.95 to 1.4 to be fast on the m4/3
  14. I like the Voigtlanders and SLR Magic with my GX85. Lovely images and they are lovely to use. The Voigtlander is exceptional if you like manual lenses. I just don't really like the Panasonic lenses although I haven't tried the 42.5 1.2 Nocitron nor the Sumilux (?). The normal Panasonic lenses are just too rubbish if you want to manual focus and I feel f0.95 - f1.4 can really dig you out of a mft lowlight hole!
  15. Great info. I had been using E stabilisation along with IBIS with my manual lenses. It worked well enough although I didn't like the crop and on a couple of occasions I saw something a bit weird and jerky. Yesterday I only used IBIS with the Voigtlander 25 0.95* and it worked really well, very smooth and with a much reduced crop. I'll be going that way from now on. I also have been giving the EosPro Luts a final chance after having been disappointed before. Whilst there are some situations you have to be wary of, like a lot of sky or over exposed shots, I have found that it has given me pretty good results when dialled back to between 60 and 75%. Coming from Canon it gives me a result much closer to Canon colour. I'm going keep experimenting with it for now. * I must say that I really like this lens and I am finding that I prefer it over the Panasonic lenses that I have (25 and 42.5 1.7). It just seems to give the Lumix a different feel, both using the camera and the resulting image.
  16. Thanks. I see quite a large crop with E stabilisation although when I used it i considered the shots to be pretty stable. Yesterday I shot without it. I will see if I notice any difference
  17. a quick question: i have stabilisation with the first hand symbol on. Is it better with E stabilisation as well? I'm using a manual lens (voigtlander) hand held

    C100 mkiii

I'd imagine many would want 4k internal as well. The beauty of the C100 is the ability to shoot high quality material in camera that doesn't bog down your computer for a quick turn around as well as the ability to up the output quality by using an external recorder.
  19. I was really interested in this camera but it just seemed to fail in a few areas (for my needs). It could have done with a wider and faster lens (f1.8-4) and hence better lowlight. The limited ND filter seemed a bizarre choice. If you are going to include an ND filter it makes sense to have a usable one! PDAF would have been a great choice or a lens with a better MF feel. Here's hoping that an XC20 comes along with those features.

Looking forward to see what they offer. The C100 mk1 has been great for me (apart from the LCD and evf). Could do with losing a few hundred grams as well.
