This is how its done on a ThinkTank Hydrophobia so you will need to replicate this. At its most basic level then, you can do this in a DIY fashion by removing the EVF cup and cutting a hole in the plastic cover to snugly fit around the EVF that the removal of the cup has exposed but keeping the mounting rails for the cup exposed. Then when you want to use it, you remove the EVF cup, press the cover onto the camera and slide the EVF cup back on and the overhang from the cup will hold it in place. It could well be that. Atomos settled their suit with RED recently so maybe a contract re-negotiation now has to take place with Nikon regarding the royalties Atomos now have to pay RED?

I'm surprised what's keeping them (and 3rd parties) with the battery grip for the Z6 as it uses the EN-EL15 battery which has been around for a long time with D8xx/D500. As for the ProResRAW...I have to say its also a bit surprising why it its not out yet nearly five months later but even more curious that there isn't a definitive release date. I don't doubt it will happen though.

He doesn't deserve it? RED have accused him of all sorts in a court case that had been running for nearly 3 years that has now been dismissed. A company owned by a multi-billionaire trying to bully a tiny operation out of business based on absolutely bogus claims and he's had to keep his mouth shut about it? I think he deserves to be able to make it into a 5 part mini-series after all that. Not to mention be bought a drink by everyone who will benefit from what he has laid out there.

I think there are probably three reasons for it. Their reputation has been trashed by RED so they need to establish definitively that they have done nothing wrong in terms of theft of IP and are prepared to show their working out They have other products to sell like an adapter for RedMag cameras such as EPIC etc to use MiniMags so this has established the legitimacy of those (not to mention raised far more awareness of the company) and I would presume that the MiniMags that will go in these will be theirs as well rather than REDs. Its a huge two fingers to RED that means even if someone else does come along and undercuts further at least it means no more profits will be coming REDs way for them. Who knows, considering the scope of their case against RED which must have severely impacted Jinnitech's business for the three years its been going on, they might also be on the receiving end of a settlement that means they won't mind losing a few sales to other companies. As far as I remember, the 8 gig Lexar 300x CF card is compatible so can be picked up off eBay in multiples to kind of mitigate it. One way round it is to get one with the SSD Side Module as you can then use either the original 1.8 RedMag or use the Jinnitech adapter to let you use their lower cost MiniMag modules. Now I never really expected RED to have made the physical media inside their mags so it doesn't come as a massive surprise to find that they contain fairly run of the mill standard drives. Did I think they were taking the piss with the price they were charging for them? Well I still wince thinking about how much I paid for the 64 gig Redmags that I bought with the EPIC so the answer is definitely yes but when you looked at how much Panasonic were asking for P2 cards then it was par for the course. This video - which has been produced by a company that make alternative mags - shouldn't come as too much of a surprise then when they strip an official one and show the components. What I hadn't really appreciated though in terms of significance are the statements that RED have made regarding them developing the drives, the millions spent on custom firmware that writes the data in a unique way and how its a US made product. All of which this video pretty much debunks and in addition shows there being a somewhat innacurate description of the capacity. Charging people ten times what they could buy the product for is one thing but the misleading descriptions is another and one that might well cause them a few issues. I'll be very interested to see what the producers of this video have in store for part 2. Particularly as it appears RED have been trying to sue them.

So I had a quick go with the £28 CCD camera yesterday and managed to get a film look out of it. Unfortunately the particular film it looks like is the Zapruder one Yeah, after looking at stuff I shot yesterday even on the lesser of the two evil cameras, I'm now regretting not giving in to my darker side and "buying" that 4K camera I'm also regretting not noticing the auto ISO was set to ON which as I had a vari-ND on was merrily ramping up the ISO to counteract every reduction I was doing. Every shot before I noticed it (which was about 70% of the total) has a swarm of angry red and green mosquitos buzzing around in it.

I found a used version of a camera that I already own today for £200. I really didn't know the score about whether that makes mine eligible but I doubt it so I passed. You'll be pleased to know I managed to park my inherent devious tendencies out of respect for the spirit of the competition and DIDN'T do a deal with the shop to buy it and return it 10 seconds later with a 10% handling charge so I'd have a receipt for one and then use my own!

I think it would be a neat addition to make whoever wins the contest to have to make an additonal entry in the next one using the camera that they got from the last placed person this time round. I did lower the bar a bit this morning.

I've narrowed the hardware down to a couple of options but the speed/cost balancing ratio may cool some people's passion for that functionality. If you have a device that can do split screen for apps then you can have it now with VLC and an off the shelf hdmi>wifi encoder. With regard to bluetooth over wifi, if you put a VNC server on the android device that you are running 3C on then you can control it over IP from anywhere on the same network or even from the other side of the world through the internet. How are you getting on with using the app by the way?

Although maybe it means I've found a cheap Leica and that £56 is just for a lens cap for it.

It works. Because the E to Z is only 2mm its actually not that bulky a deal. Especially not to get auto focus on 50 year old lenses!
