  1. I think the original launch price of the X1D was around $9K but with DJI now involved it might well be in the same ballpark as the Fuji but whether it can compete on the video side is a big question if all it is is just a higher res version of the X1D. I understand from this video from the angry fella that Fuji have been sending firmware updates for all of the GF lenses for the pre-production GFX100 to enable PD autofocus and it seems it takes it to a level that Hasselblad could struggle with.
  2. You can see the lens barrel reflected in the lens release button on both shots where there is a lens attached and it is absent on the other one, which also shows the locking pin of the actual mount.
  3. The difference that you are looking at there is between a camera with a lens attached (top) and one without a lens attached (bottom). As per this product shot of the X1D .
  4. In answer to "why was the LS300 overlooked by so many users?", I think this interaction that I've just seen on Twitter might be quite informative In fairness, JVC did show two different versions of it that year but I definitely think the fact it had an MFT mount has certainly clouded the message regarding it NOT having an MFT sensor.
  5. Park Cameras have the free upgrade amongst a range of additional extra discounts for it. https://www.parkcameras.com/p/P016600K/mirrorless-cameras/panasonic/panasonic-lumix-s1-full-frame-l-mount-mirrorless-camera
  6. Its been a couple of years since I used it (and with H3Diis rather than X1D) but I never minded using Phocus and it seems to have come on a lot since then but, yeah, its another tick for Fuji if you use Capture One for your tethered shooting/editing with other cameras as well.
  7. I think they'd looked at what Leica were up to with Panasonic and sought a similar path with Sony but unlike Leica they used the same mount which kind of gave the game away that it was a NEX-7 with an overcoat on ! As is often the way with these brands though, if you picked a Lunar up during the fire sales that went on with them then you'd be sitting on a profit now from collectors whereas with "real" Hasselblad digitals from the same era you'll have lost most of the original price. I'm fascinated by where they will be going with this new camera as Fuji have given them a bit of a caning with the GFX but as the first new Hasselblad product post DJI then there could be some surprises not least in terms of price.
  8. Yes it does. Some fast panning tests with it here
  9. I like having a few cameras but even at 3000 dollars I think 2000 of them is a bit excessive Don With regard to the 6K or 8K issue, one of the drawbacks with the LS300 when you are in 4K is that the Prime Zoom function only gives you 1.25x zoom versus 2.3x zoom when you are in HD so the additional resolution would be of great benefit for that if not necessarily as a recording format.
  10. Well its the 50th anniversary next month of Hasselblad's most famous field trip so it would be nice to see them tie it in to returning to that iconic form factor. I'm surprised they haven't actually timed this launch date with that launch date to exploit the link but maybe the imminent arrival of the Fuji has forced their hand. Mind you, the last time they tried to tip their hat to the space programme they made a right shambles of it with the Lunar. Although the design does look somewhat reminiscent of a more recent popular camera....

Yeah, if you put "camera rain cover" into aliexpress you'll find the same ones that ship to Australia. Half the price as well.
  12. Oddly enough, I saw this for sale the other day and thought of you ! Go on , you know you want to https://www.mpb.com/en-uk/used-equipment/used-photo-and-video/used-video-cameras/aja-cion-4k-production-camera/sku-841098/

I used the ThinkTank Hydrophobia range which are great but have a price tag to match, although when you factor in the cost of the cameras and lens combos they were protecting they are a bargain You can get generic versions that will do the job for you for a lot less money and this one has the advantage of having a two stage lens portion to accommodate different lens lengths https://www.amazon.co.uk/2-Stage-Camera-Protector-Foldable-Cameras/dp/B01HRGPDKQ
  14. The conversation I had with with someone from JVC regarding the EVF on the LS300 is that they were offered a different option during the development but felt it would have blown the price beyond what they thought was reasonable. So they are very aware of that shortcoming (though I would say when you add a Ninja V to the LS300 it takes away all that and adds 4K60p so is the best £500 you can spend on it!) so I expect it to be a given that it is addressed in the new one. The price is an interesting thing in that while the LS300 is a great price now (particularly used) it has had a few price cuts in its life cycle so I'd be surprised to see them get a lot of some of the features they're asking questions about into the sort of launch price that might be anticipated. When all is said and done, JVC are a very much a traditional broadcast company with the sort of prices that match rather than an aggressive new player. Having said that, I wouldn't have expected them to come up with a product like the LS300 in the first place so you never know !
  15. Looking at the twitter handle in the video description, I'm a bit confused about the "found" bit of your post ? In the intervening four years since he posed the question he might well have.
  16. Its USB and works with both PC and Mac. There is a helper application linked in the Amazon product page for both to enable the key re-mapping. The reference to an app was in regards to using it with the iOS editing app LumaFusion which I have developed a bluetooth interface for.
  17. You really think I'd have wasted £34 on something that I didn't have a half baked idea for incorporating a processor, some epoxy and an electric blue case? It is now a new option that I've incorporated for this to enable it to be used as a custom keyboard in LumaFusion
  18. I think its actually pretty smart. More to the point, if they release a version of the base unit of this thing for the Osmo Pocket then it would actually be a pretty intriguing product with the amount of customisation available through the programming interface. With the combination of repeatable movement and articulation that it could achieve with just some of that blue tape and a few of the markers It could be the motion controller for the rest of us. For low budget sports productions it would be a revolution in making high speed remote tracking shots available at that sort of price.
  19. Slightly related as an alternative/supplement are programmable keypads so you can create your own surface. It has 23 programmable keys (ignore the keycaps as you also get a set of blanks) and these can be set to single keys or multi stroke macros. You can also setup four layers to increase the flexibility and it is very reasonably priced at £34, particularly when compared to something like the X-Keys products. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mechanical-Keyboard-Koolertron-Programmable-Portable-23keys-Blue-Switches-Blue-Backlit/dp/B07SFFHQCJ
  20. Considering who it was he was trying to emulate with his look at me antics, I'd have titled it "Suitcasey Righttwat" if I had been fast enough to film it.
  21. Fire away, I've just seen a grown man riding a skateboard through an airport while pulling his suitcase fall off it and take out another grown man on a skateboard filming him so nothing is going to impact my bliss now.
