To be fair, they also did it to us with the CF cards and Red Drives for the original Red ONE camera when their brand name was largely associated with not shipping a camera on time

Looking into this a bit further, it seems RED's suit against Jinnitech for IP infringement was dismissed a few days ago, presumably freeing them up to release this video. Meanwhile, Jinnitech's suit against RED is still very much alive.... https://casetext.com/case/jinni-tech-ltd-v-redcom-inc

The browser based tweaker is only compatible with releases prior to the June 2017 camera firmware updates. https://sony-pmca.appspot.com/plugin/app/com.github.ma1co.openmemories.tweak The recommendation for versions post that date is to use the standalone installer. https://github.com/ma1co/Sony-PMCA-RE/releases/tag/v0.17 I did an A7Rii a few weeks ago using the standalone one to change it from Japanese but I couldn't vouch for if it is still possible with cameras that had the very lastest firmware update firmware updates Sony pushed out at the end of May this year.

If you are using FCPX then there are a number of infographic generators that you can buy such as this one. It has a free demo version that you can try.

Now I never really expected RED to have made the physical media inside their mags so it doesn't come as a massive surprise to find that they contain fairly run of the mill standard drives. Did I think they were taking the piss with the price they were charging for them? Well I still wince thinking about how much I paid for the 64 gig Redmags that I bought with the EPIC so the answer is definitely yes but when you looked at how much Panasonic were asking for P2 cards then it was par for the course. This video - which has been produced by a company that make alternative mags - shouldn't come as too much of a surprise then when they strip an official one and show the components. What I hadn't really appreciated though in terms of significance are the statements that RED have made regarding them developing the drives, the millions spent on custom firmware that writes the data in a unique way and how its a US made product. All of which this video pretty much debunks and in addition shows there being a somewhat innacurate description of the capacity. Charging people ten times what they could buy the product for is one thing but the misleading descriptions is another and one that might well cause them a few issues. I'll be very interested to see what the producers of this video have in store for part 2. Particularly as it appears RED have been trying to sue them.

I was hoping to score enough points in the shopping section to offset the lack of them in the actual creative bit! -
Find the best video quality for under $200 - fun challenge

So I had a quick go with the £28 CCD camera yesterday and managed to get a film look out of it. Unfortunately the particular film it looks like is the Zapruder one Yeah, after looking at stuff I shot yesterday even on the lesser of the two evil cameras, I'm now regretting not giving in to my darker side and "buying" that 4K camera I'm also regretting not noticing the auto ISO was set to ON which as I had a vari-ND on was merrily ramping up the ISO to counteract every reduction I was doing. Every shot before I noticed it (which was about 70% of the total) has a swarm of angry red and green mosquitos buzzing around in it. -

I found a used version of a camera that I already own today for £200. I really didn't know the score about whether that makes mine eligible but I doubt it so I passed. You'll be pleased to know I managed to park my inherent devious tendencies out of respect for the spirit of the competition and DIDN'T do a deal with the shop to buy it and return it 10 seconds later with a 10% handling charge so I'd have a receipt for one and then use my own! -

Good luck getting that St. Bernard into a cardboard box let alone getting it into a bikini.

I've narrowed the hardware down to a couple of options but the speed/cost balancing ratio may cool some people's passion for that functionality. If you have a device that can do split screen for apps then you can have it now with VLC and an off the shelf hdmi>wifi encoder. With regard to bluetooth over wifi, if you put a VNC server on the android device that you are running 3C on then you can control it over IP from anywhere on the same network or even from the other side of the world through the internet. How are you getting on with using the app by the way?

Oh bollocks. <clicks Remove Z6 From Basket>

It works. Because the E to Z is only 2mm its actually not that bulky a deal. Especially not to get auto focus on 50 year old lenses!
-
Well there was but you had to have the brightness set to 11 to do it!
-
If its manual F mount lenses then the best play is F to Leica M adapter, TechArt Pro M to E and then the TechArt E to Z as that way those manual focus F mount lenses magically become auto focus ones.

B for the dog and L for the lake for me. Just as an aide-mémoire when reading everyone else's choices I've made these

Well I was only kidding but to be fair the reality is that it is similarly niche. I've bought gazillions of cakes in my life but only one wedding cake. So in the overall world of cake, the wedding ones represent a tiny slice of the......nope, I can't do it.

I like finding shortcuts.... So to my mind the shortcut here then would be analogous to a traditional TV channel where you find someone with a monetised account to host your content in their channel for them taking a cut of the ad revenue? Solves the problem of you getting your content out there @kaylee and earning from the get go without your own audience and solves the problem of the channel owner not being prolific enough in terms of content to maintain his place in whatever arbitrary algorithm reshuffle they do next. It can't be that simple can it?

Without that video he made about it on his channel, I wouldn't have known about the $200 USB rechargeable precision screwdriver. And without the comments section of that video, I would never have known about the £35 identical version I bought from Amazon last week!

I worked with the Soundfield company itself when it changed hands from AMS/Calrec about 25 years ago so I sold/demoed/rented quite a few ST350 systems to broadcasters and studios. The H3VR is not quite at that level In fairness though, it only costs about the same as the flight case did for those so its punching well above its weight. For what it is as at this sort of level I think its actually pretty good to be honest. Its not going to fulfill a fantasy of being a magic bullet for a "record all/point later" device for primary audio but as a simple way for recording general ambience in a surround format to supplement it then it has a lot going for it for me.
