Yes because of course I'm not busy enough right now Seriously though, Gmonitor does all this stuff and is available for Android and iOs https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gmonitor/id1219955645?mt=8

OK, well I've got a solution for you. The live view to a phone works while recording the burst. So your options are to use the free Panasonic Image App on your phone as a monitor or use an app like Gmonitor (Android or iOS) which is about $5 and is a more dedicated monitor app for showing the live stream. There is some lag but it is actually pretty marginal and definitely usable. Far, far more usable than the non-functioning HDMI port.

No, it has morphed slighty into a Leica/Panasonic/Sony controller and will be available soon both as the pocket version here But also the larger version with focus wheel as shown here with the Pocket4K There will likely be a Wifi version of 3C for them as well.

Shooting some Superbike testing at the circuit today with the LS300 and his new best friend the Atomos Ninja V. And in one fell swoop its achilles heel of abysmal monitoring is solved and 4K60p added without having to wrestle with the bigger recorders. A very worthwhile upgrade for £550.

Thank you. Yes, I have tested it on my Fire 7HD but of course you will need to put the Play Store on to your tablet to buy it. If you haven't already put Play Store on it then there are plenty of step by step tutorials around to follow.

If you use an Android emulator on it then yes

The initial spark for it was to offer something for Android because there was (and still isn't) an official app from BM for it and also because the official one was iPad only which, again, didn't strike me as ideal form factor wise. I still hold that view but as its developed quite a lot functionality wise during its evolution from being just an Android alternative then, perhaps, it might be something I would do if there is enough demand. To be honest though, I still regard it as being something that I would view as running on a dedicated low cost Android device such as this one rather than "wasting" something more expensive on it like an iPhone https://www.amazon.co.uk/SIM-Free-Unlocked-Smartphones-,MTK6580-ShaQx/dp/B07KT9KM8Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1551731135 I agree regarding some aspects of the Android experience being less than enthralling (whilst acknowledging that iOS has its moments as well) but for something like this I'd view it as being a dedicated single function device that just happens to have Android underneath it. The way to look at is if I didn't say it was an app but said would you like a touch screen bluetooth remote control device for your Pocket4K with an all day rechargeable battery for a total cost £55 then it would seem a different proposition The upside to having it on Android is it makes it easier to accommodate other enhancements to it such as live view integration but also offers a future option to run it on small single board computers that can be put in more pro film making housings.

Thanks Especially for someone as lazy as I am. My projects really need to go on Kickupthearsestarter

Version 1.2 will be released on Wednesday and includes a new mode for supporting for the Blackberry Key1/2 phones. It might seem a quirky device to support but the combination of touch screen and physical keyboard is actually very nice in terms of controlling the camera. Aside from being able to control the functions from the screen, the functions are also mapped to the physical keys on the phone and the rubber backing of the phone makes it more comfortable to hold. When running 3C on the Key1/2 it defaults to portrait mode to make for more ergonomic one hand operation and/or narrower profile for mounting on a rig or gimbal handle.

I have a cunning plan for a new app that might just have some utility in this area

After how much I spent for that toaster, I am in more need of the free stuff than anyone.
-
If its any consolation I spent £250 on a Dualit toaster about 10 years ago. I gifted it to my daughter along with a bunch of other kitchen appliances when she moved in to her new apartment last year. I asked a few weeks later how she was getting on with this iconic bread heating masterpiece only to discover she had thrown it out because "it looked old fashioned". This keen appreciation of design classics also means she refers to my Billingham Hadley Pro bag as a satchel. I blame her mother.

You'll be going into the Leica store to collect your Q2 just as they are unboxing the demo version of the upcoming M Mini. Be strong

It doesn't but I'm curious enough to ask whether you currently use an ios/android app like Movie Slate ? I'm sure you know where my curiosity may lie for whether this might be something that people would use if it incorporated the camera data

The output of quite a few of the other cameras that I've got can certainly exceed that of the two Leicas that I have. But the input to none of them can. It matters.
-
Yep, that was the point I was rather clumsily attempting to make as the scope of some of the patents that the company most likely to be the ones that have been infringed are broad enough to make you wonder how anyone gets away with actually making a camera without getting sued by them for one aspect of it or another

Let me have a look at my GX80 when I get back at the weekend and I'll get back to you. Can you tell me what happens if you use Panasonic's Image App when doing this? What does it display in the live view aspect ratio wise and is it interrupted during the burst? Is the interruption (or not) the same when you instigate the burst from the app as it is when you instigate it from the camera's own shutter button?
-
I would hazard a guess that it might be to do with the method to construct continuous video from it rather than specifically the file format for individual frames, which would make me suspect it was the same company that were suing Atomos until very recently before a licensing arrangement was done. Whether the same license arrangement was not offered due to BM being a rival camera manufacturer or BM decided to turn it down would be a question if it was who I suspect it was.

With BRAW they've put a realistic possibility of an SD card only, screenless, compact version a la BMMCC should be back on the table now I don't even think it has to be particularly dramatically cheaper than the current one either as its all about the alternative form factor. Something less power hungry and more easily flyable on a gimbal by virtue of getting rid of that big inflexible screen would get a lot of business as both an alternative to but also as a supplemental B camera for existing owners. Lets be brutually honest here and say that if it was 20% cheaper than the current one then you'd have TWO cameras and still be up on the deal compared to the cost of more pedestrian hybrid offerings.

I think one potential solution to get a uniform look might be to use EOSHD ProColour on both of them instead of using Cinelike D on the G80 and trying to match it on the GH2 but you'll need @Andrew Reid to chime in regarding how it developed with the GH2 because it was experimental at the time.

No, I took a design decision early on to leave the codec and format selection to being set at the camera partly to keep to the single screen ethos but primarily for safety purposes. If someone changes an aperture setting accidentally then its obvious and they can correct themselves but its not the same case with a change of format or codec so I decided something as potentially destructive as that is better left to be a consciously deliberate change that you have to use the camera menus for. BRAW is already supported in the control spec though so its a 20 minute job to add a selector in the future if people want it.

When TechArt release their E mount adapter, you will then be able to put their TechART Pro adapter on it. The basic premise of the TechART Pro is that it is a Leica M to Sony E adapter that enables you to have autofocus of the very not autofocus M mount lenses. When you activate the AF on the camera, the adapter physically moves the lens to achieve focus (you set the lens to infinity focus and leave it there). So far so very good as there are obviously a world of very fine M mount lenses available for you to bankrupt yourself with as well as some very fine ones from Voigtlander and 7Artisans that will hurt far less. The bonus though is via very cheap adapters to the M mount, you can do the same trick for manual focus lenses with Nikon F, Contax Zeiss C/Y, Canon FD, M42, Leica R, Minolta MD mounts and so on. There are some caveats regarding the weight of the lens so I wouldn't recommend you hanging an old 300mm f2.8 off it (although if you use a monopod and let the camera move rather than the lens then it is possible ) but it offers some great possibilities for getting more out of old lenses. Another bonus is that you if you set the focus on the lens to minimum rather than infinity you can actually reduce the minimum focus distance by quite a large amount because you are varying its distance to the sensor which you can't do with regular adapters.
