I posted this in the other thread but it was probably more appropriate here. -------- If you are looking for a used bargain then MPB have a 10% off promotion on all of their lens stock. https://www.mpb.com/en-uk/used-equipment/used-photo-and-video/used-lenses/

I can't recommend it yet (as I am still contemplating buying it ) but just for completeness, one lens that might be interesting for you is the Handevision IBERIT 75mm f/2.4 in Leica M mount. Nope, I'd never heard of them either. Here is a review and some sample images from a German reviewer using it on a Leica M10. Google translate has mangled it a bit but you can get the gist. https://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=de&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.qimago.de%2Fdas-handevision-iberit-75mm-f2-4-fuer-leica-m%2F There are also some other images from a quick LeicaRumours test and these back up the lower contrast look (certainly against the Voigtlander) that the reviewer was referring to, which is not such a bad thing in my view if you are using it for video. https://leicarumors.com/2017/03/19/quick-hands-on-review-of-the-handevision-iberit-lenses-on-a-leica-m10-camera.aspx/ There are a couple of reviews on the Adorama site where they are currently selling it for a much lower price ($379) than €600 the reviewer was basing his review on https://www.adorama.com/kal7524lcmb.html As I say, I can't recommend it as I haven't used one personally but if I can find one in Europe at the price that Adorama are selling them for then I almost certainly will be.

Yeah but isn't that sort of someone else's post you should have been quoting

Its asking me to log in What is it? EDIT>>> I've just put "WEIP" (which is the brand of the connector) into the search bar at aliexpress and its returned a lot of products featuring ladies who presumably must be riding horses. In their lingerie. EDIT 2>>> If it is this product though, then I think its a winner. This is exactly what I'm going to use my cable kit for as I already have a few of the battery mounts that are included in this kit. The curly version of the cable is actually a better solution too. Link to it here https://www.aliexpress.com/item/DC-12V-NP-F-Battery-Power-Supply-System-Mount-Adapter-Plate-Holder-for-BMCC-BMPCC-4K/32955311989.html

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was pretty close to just hacking off the connector from the mains supply if BM didn't get a move on with their cable kit and it looks like he ran out of patience before I did ! Thankfully my real cable kit is coming in a few days so I don't have to do it. If anyone is interested in making their own custom cables - which might be a bit neater for some solutions as the official ones are 65cm long - then these are the connectors (make sure you order the 2 pin version obviously ) https://weipuconnector.en.alibaba.com/product/60735848587-806276836/IP67_Industrial_Push_pull_Metal_connector_male_SF1610_Weipu_connector_electrical_connector_metal_plugs.html

CVP have actually got the semi mythical official cable set in (limited) stock https://cvp.com/product/blackmagic-bmd-cable-ccpoc4k-dc-cable-pack

Does it make a difference balance wise if you use the dummy battery/external power pack option @Anaconda_ ?

Maybe they could offer the transmission box as an add on for the Weebill. They'd certainly get a few takers considering how expensive standalone ones are.

And Mel Brooks can make a film about it

In all fairness, they do need to be far more specific about that functionality. Even in the Newsshooter review they talk about other cameras being supported in the future but they should be explicit about the situation regarding the Pocket 4K specifically but other cameras in general.

Its very informative that Canon have a relationship with a site like that and then get their knickers in a twist with them about mention of Magic Lantern. So they'll happily contribute to the creation of speculation and fake news about their own products in order to keep people on the hook but actively discourage the awareness of actual facts about enhancing ones you may already own. Honestly, them having any sort of relationship with a rumour site is a pretty sad indictment of the way things are with regard to the chicanery of the camera business. If you can't even trust the sites that are actually set up for making shit up to actually make that shit up in an unbiased way then he game has gone!

My reading of it is that their app is a roll your own version of the Sony and Panasonic apps that can stream over wifi, hence why its only models from those two that are supported as its fairly easy to invoke and tap into their streams. On the upside, it also means if it works with Panasonic then it also works with Leica They could do the same for Nikon and Canon and Fuji (although your record quality would then drop to 720p as is the way with Fuji when you want to operate them over wifi). Pocket 4K obviously lacks the wifi capability so would need a different solution. The external control of the Pocket 4K is also over Bluetooth LE so would again need a different solution.

I've shot the Winter Olympics as a freelancer so it isn't out of the question as long as you can meet the usual requirements of membership of a recognised professional sports journalism organisation such as AIPS and have a body of recently published work. The accreditation is via each country's Olympic comittee rather than centrally so you have to apply to the one in your country. As a freelancer you will almost certainly be required to produce a letter of assignment from a publication/broadcaster but this will vary depending on your individual country as will the number of slots available for each specific role (writer/radio/photo etc). There will also be some rights restriction aspects as well that will strictly define how you can use your content so you will need to make sure that you have that clarified precisely. I suspect that the more immediate hurdle for you might be the deadline to apply though as it may, as it has with the British association, already have passed.

I have to say that I'm not sure that it actually is that easy to understand why manual focus is the only way to go. The AF adapters don't just work with the two major MFT camera makers but also with the MFT mount JVC LS300, so I don't really get why BM can't get them to work? Or why no one seems that bothered about it either. Does the camera offer the greatest AF options in the world anyway? No, of course not but its quite adequate especially the area touch focus function. In addition, the throw in manual focus mode on a lot of the lenses that people would be looking to adapt is often very limited so its a bit of a pain to work with them like that. If BM have no intention of changing this in a later release (and the fact that no one seems bothered about it suggests they probably won't) then I'd say the Aputure device would be the one to get if you can get hold of one as it gives you a bit more precise control of those lenses and of course is the only one to allow any sort of hands off control when it is on a gimbal. In addition, as it does slightly less reduction than the others it makes it far less prone to vignetting on APS-C lenses.

Unfortunately, its the inadvertent growing aspect of those batteries that has been causing the problem with them getting stuck in this camera.

With all due respect, I think it is a bit harsh referring to people as crying babies who are whining when they are actually raising legitmate concerns about powering this camera. Read my post above about the difference in heat generation between powering it on mains for 8 or 9 hour stretches versus powering it for 10 or 15 minutes on batteries. That difference in heat is not something to be unconcerned about and neither is the random battery life indicator. I have literally just had mine shut down on me mid take when it waa showing a quarter full. Yet, thus far, the only OFFICIAL way to power this camera other than the mains adapter is to use batteries. Everything else until they actually get that cable kit out is some form of cobbled together solution with dummy batteries and power packs. Yes,that situation will be resolved over time and won't be a concern for people who get this camera in the future but for people who actually DO have it right now, it is fair comment to be annoyed about the situation. The price of this camera doesn't always give it a pass regarding criticism as some of the criticisms have got absolutely nothing to do with the price of it or could have been avoided with such a minimal price increase that would have had zero impact on sales or anyone's satisfaction that they were getting more than their money's worth. Oh and @Jonesy Jones, my advice would be to favour any solution that powers it off the DC port. If they ever ship that cable kit

It gives you three cables with the 2 pin DC input on the end. (Dtap, DC Barrel and bare wire.) So you can power it from different battery solutions or even fabricate one yourself with the bare end. The 2 pin locking DC connectors themselves are between £10-15 each (and you have to hunt them down as while they are not proprietary to BM they are not a standard part in any electrical store) so the price is not too bad. As to why they are so rare, that is just a good old fashioned balls up as far as I'm concerned as they should have been available from day one. You'd have to think cables were the easy part of this particular project really so I don't understand it. It has also left BM open to a lot of heat literally and figuratively regarding running it on batteries. I have been working on the camera with it sat powered from the mains for hours on end (literally 8 and 9 hour days) and it produces barely any heat but within 10 minutes of then doing the same off the internal battery it is getting plenty warm. So for me this cable pack is not just about having ways to get longer run times any more but also about not running it on the internal battery unless absolutely necessary because the heat generation is a long term concern.
