Park Cameras (unusually) have got a used H3DII-39 for £1499. There are plenty of HC80s around at £800 to pair with it. MPB have got a 50-110 for £850. £2300 for either combo is a steal in relative terms. Actually, forget relative terms, its a steal in absolute terms as well.

What if there was a way where you had an option when you put it into record it always simultaneously selected the shutter speed in case you'd accidentally knocked it? Noted, if so.

I just don't understand why they haven't done a swappable version. The swap on an Epic between PL and Canon mounts takes a few minutes with an allen key and even with RED doing their macho bullshit styling and etching everything in BOLD CAPITALS on it can't get it to be over $700 (although inevitably they have also an operation-desert-storm-kevlar-titanium-and-granite version of it for a gazillion quid). The bottom line though is even doing a swappable version is all a bit of a wheel re-invention as having an MFT mount on it from the get go just gives you more options. They could've gone as far as bundling it with a Metabones smart EF Speedbooster and I think everyone would've been happy. It won't stop me buying one as I wasn't going to anyway so maybe they have listened to the right focus group from that perspective ! Now you're 'over' IBIS the future AF200 for you is the current LS300

As its got a LANC port, you can also remote the zoom rocker (as well as the record function) off the body with one of these

One thing you do have to watch out for when attaching every lens in the known world ( ) to this thing is ND wheel. Because it protrudes forward of the mount, attaching lens adapters which have a tripod foot on them requires taking the tripod foot off. In the case of the Metabones smart EF booster, which someone at the factory must have used the tyre gun from an F1 team to bolt it on with, this involved me having to take a hacksaw to it. No, really. With the Aputure Lens Regain, you have to be really careful removing the foot and then replacing it when its on the camera as it contains some flimsy wiring.

I'm mainly finding it staring at me saying "why aren't you using me?" unfortunately. The intention was to use it for the tournament assignment I've just done but it took a complete backseat to the stills work to the extent that it and all its supporting gear actually got shipped back home midway through as it was becoming a logistical burden hauling it round with me! I've got the new firmware on it at least so as soon as I've had this little holiday it will be getting put to work for the new season so watch this space. What I can say from all the testing I've done with it is that the sheer versatility of this thing in using native MFT, B4, PL, Canon AF, Contax Zeiss, M42 and Nikon lenses is that you'll get no arguments from me about what mount Panasonic have missed a trick not putting on the EVA

Glad I got it as a one off purchase when I did then as it looks like they've farmed it out into a bundle. Not cool.

Yeah, you do have to watch out for the jiggery pokery that it gets up to with corrections on its own lenses. The original thread from @fuzzynormal about it is here where we discussing it and also contains a link back to a related discussion about it in the big Fuji thread.

This is a decent comparison to summarise the differences in video performance between the X-T2 and the X-T20. The headline difference is in the line skipping on the X-T20 which gives the X-T2 the edge (ho ho) in terms of sharpness but at the expense of the additional crop factor. Its by no means a night and day difference though so they will cut together without a major issue. The X-T2 can also do log albeit only to an external recorder. On the other hand the X-T20 does touch AF which might be something that would be appealing. There are other additional hardware differences that favour the X-T2 such as a better EVF, dual card slots, the battery grip and so on so there's no question its a higher end offering but, IMO, I think a better spend instead of two X-T2's would be one X-T2, one X-T20 and use the saving on a Crane or other gimbal. You'd be getting near identical IQ so most of the advantages of two of the same model but with the advantage of the flexibility of different form factors (the X-T20 is not far off GX80 tiny) and also addressing its achilles heel compared to GH5 etc of not having IBIS.

Slow-mo shootout - which camera gives the most detail at 120fps?
BTM_Pix replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I'll second that about Finisher. I like the simplicity of CrumplePop's stuff -
And don't forget the Mauerpark flea market if you're there on Sunday where I got these three fleas for €120 when I was there a few weeks ago. And there is also a van there that sells quite remarkable chips. I went for lenses but stayed for the chips.

Top marks for a thorough and helpful response @cantsin

Put it on the floor while with an RX100 on it to record a couple of quick clips for you today so you could see it in action ! This was on smooth-ish flooring but a small strip of lino to run it on would make a difference. Its not going to give the makers of real motorised sliders any sleepless nights but with a bit of post stabilisation (which these clips obviously don't have) its not bad at all. And its very stealth. I'm going to experiment with pimping the wheels with some chunkier tyres. C0018.mov C0017.mov

Its the side mounting holes that can make the difference and can give you the extra point of contact with a pistol grip. If you are using something small like a GX80 then shaping the MOVO into a chest or belt configuration and putting the grip on the side as above you can grip the camera with your left hand, hold the pistol grip with your right and your third point of contact is the chest or your belt area. Its not as sophisticated as the Edelkrone was (which you would expect for the price) as you have to manually tighten and loosen the arms but, for me at least, the mounting holes give it more potential all round utility.

I remember back in the Epic days they came up with the M version which people could jump the queue ahead of the X version if they stumped up the money so its not without precedent for them. Not sure whats gone on here as it seems a confused picture as to why they seemingly couldn't deliver until 2018 and now they are available from stock at Apple. I thought there might be some reaction on Reduser to it if they had bypassed a bunch of backorders to favour Apple but there doesn't seem to be. Mind you, Jannard could go on there and tell them all to fuck off and the reaction would pretty much be this

How well it works for that specific movement will vary from person to person I suppose. My own physiology isn't conducive to decent walking shots anymore because of the amount of damage I've done to my shoulder over the years but the MOVO does improve it over handheld. What is interesting about it though is that it can be shaped in so many different ways so I've done some experiments with turning the last piece up instead of down so it hooks under the shoulder which with my physiology is actually a bit better. So the answer I suppose is that it depends ! But there is a ton of flexibility to it that you can find a way that suits you personally better. I've just done this quick illustration for you of what else you could do if you put it into a more basic inverted L shape. Because of the mounting points on all of the arms you could side mount two cheap pistol grips (I only have one so you'll have to use your imagination but basically it would go directly on the other side!) to do something with a different take on the Fig approach where it would be gripped like handlebars. I've put the other picture from the other thread of the grip being used in a more conventional way for anyone who is only looking at this thread and hasn't seen it. A couple of these grips (which are inexpensive and way hardly anything) can do offer a lot of scope with the MOVO without breaking the bank or your back. Grips are here https://www.amazon.co.uk/Neewer-Handheld-Stabilizer-Panasonic-Samsung/dp/B018LQEFL4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1501604216&sr=1-1&keywords=Neewer+Camera+Handle+Pistol+Grip

That answers what was going to be my next question about what I've just seen out of my hotel window then. Thats as reasonable an explanation as I've been able to come up with. I had pondered whether they seem taller because the bikes are taller though as well. No, seriously.

Its interesting to read @cantsin and @Cinegain view on the deteriorating situation in Holland as I'd come back to this thread to say that the place I've found to be bucking the trend while I've been on this assignment here for the past three weeks was, erm, Holland! In smaller places like Tilburg and Breda that I've been working, I was surprised to find that both had two very well stocked stores as well as MediaMarkts with decent selections. The camera stores also had a good selection of accessories like sliders and cages and lens adaptors too. The point being I suppose is that it if this is Holland in a decline then it puts into perspective just how bad its become in the UK because these stores had as broad a range of product on display as you'd find in central London. A couple of things about Holland that puzzle me though if you can help me guys, is 1) What is the deal with the number of Tesla S cars? Are they heavily subsidised or something because they are absolutely everywhere. I thought I was seeing things when I saw they were used as taxis! 2) How can one quick squirt of sauce on the top layer of a cone of frites penetrate the rest of them? If I did that with an English cone of chips it would only cover the exposed ones yet your places manage to make it coat every one of them in the cone. It seems to be the reverse of what you are able to do with reclaiming the land from the sea.

On the other hand, it could just be the cult thing and they're about to purchase a South Pacific island and start hollowing out a volcano.

FCPX gets an exclusivity period on the plugin to edit content for the Hydrogen maybe? The maturity of Resolve into a full blown editor and its ability to run on cheaper hardware using different OS might be concerning them ever so slightly. How long will it be before buying a big spec Mac and FCPX for editing versus a Linux or Windows machine with a monster graphics card and free Resolve looks a bit reckless financially, if its not there already? People are already looking at the cost and performance of newer Macs and not seeing enough difference to buy an upgrade. Supplementing what you've got Mac wise with a dedicated Resolve machine using gaming components seems a better spend to me right now and I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that. Taking some degree of control of the content creation for 'the next big thing' if that's what the Hydrogen is to become is a way of stopping that drain.

Its a bit mind boggling to consider the sort of fanboy cult an alliance between RED and Apple could potentially produce. Its going to be like the moonies merging with the scientologists. Via USB-C

The next month or so should reveal more information apparently. The problem I have is that the go to source for info about it should be the reduser site but I can't last more than a few more minutes on there because of the sycophancy. I went over there earlier to see what it was all about regarding RED selling the cameras through the Apple store and pretty much did this.
