  1. Might be niche on the surface as its primarily for live broadcast but this time limited offer might be worth considering for some of the many Ninja V/V+ owners on here. To recap about the two products (both of which house the Ninja V/V+ but obviously not simultaneously).. The AtomX Cast turns the Ninja V/V+ into a fully fledged four input switcher complete with a USB-C output for streaming input to broadcast it with your phone/laptop/ipad etc that can accept the webcam standard input (YouTube, Facebook, Skype, Teams etc etc). Full details here https://www.atomos.com/accessories/atomxcast The Atomos Connect adds a lot of connectivity utility for the Ninja V/V+ including an SDI input, WiFi6 and 1GB Ethernet for streaming and on set remote viewing, simultaneous ProRes and H265 proxy recordings (with timecode), Camera To Cloud to upload live from the camera, wireless timecode and remote control over BLE from an app. Atomos have also just announced a €99 paid upgrade to add NDI to its output so the camera can be used wirelessly within a standard broadcast protocol. Full details here https://www.atomos.com/accessories/atomos-connect On the surface, it might not seem like this bundle has much of an audience here but I think the Atomos Connect adds so much overall utility and AtomX Cast offers a whole new opportunity that its pretty transformative for the Ninja V/V+ and is a real bargain.
  2. Its interesting new info though so re-post it in that thread.
  3. Time will tell where it where it fits in the market but where it fits in this forum is in the existing thread for it 😉
  4. That wolves are absolutely coining it and won't get out of the lair for less than £10K a day plus points?
  5. Not an answer to your specific query about BRAW playing a role but here is a side by side that someone has done with the S5ii and S1H comparing moiré. Its there in both but far more pronounced in the S5ii with the suspicion that the OLPF of the S1H is the differentiator but I doubt that is the whole tale. From that test, it would be expected to be more from the S5ii but its interesting that you are seeing more with the S1H in BRAW than internal. Could be additional processing in the camera is taming it when recording internally ?
  6. It apparently will be called the ZV-E or ZV-E1 and seems to essentially be an A7Siii in the rangefinder-ish body of the A7c. The following specs are from rumour sites so take with a pinch of salt but if this is accurate then it will be an interesting release. 12MP sensor from the Sony a7s III 4k 60p and 4k 120p video (no crop) Max ISO of 409,600 No pixel binning AF from a7R V, but it has even better detection New AI features Priced expected to be under $2,500 4k 120p could come later with a firmware update
  7. Well, after having to put up with a family obsession with the show for years, they would likely have to pay me a significant part of the budget difference to force me to sit through a full side by side comparison but, yeah, on a brief look you can see there is more lustre for want of a better word on the movie version. Still can't see the justification in the extent of the multiplication factor though but I know zero about the nitty gritty of making movies or, indeed, the cost of walkie talkies 🙂
  8. Archive Team appear to be on the case. There are some other individual efforts to preserve the studio shot comparison content too apparently. https://wiki.archiveteam.org/index.php/DPReview
  9. Word has it that the mark 2 is imminent and will apparently have the following : 50MP sensor 8K/60 6K/8K ProRes RAW (to external SSD as far as I can tell) Phase Detect AF I suppose that would take care of your AF woes and it does all that at the current price of the mark 1 then you might be flogging off more gear to get it. It might change my Z9 plans as well.
  10. Bobby Bowfinger had it spot on twenty years ago Something that has always puzzled me is when you consider something like Downton Abbey which costs roughly $1-2M per hour as a TV programme yet was somewhere between $7-10M per hour for the film version without too much demonstrable difference in production values. The final season of Game Of Thrones was supposed to be around $15M per hour, its hard to imagine that if it was a movie then they'd be getting much change out of triple or even quadruple that amount. I suppose the trick is to pretend you are making a TV programme and hope no one finds out it is a film. A bit like wedding cakes.
  11. I think "fun" is probably better defined as "less annoying" when it comes to these cameras. In that respect, I'd say the 6KPro with the EVF as you then have two ways to address the major annoyance of the monitor screen. The internal ND is obviously a massive boon anyway but particularly as you might be using a mixture of EF and EF-S lenses that have wildly different filter thread sizes.
  12. It doesn't mind discussing the controversial racist and sexist article you supposedly wrote about him though . While all this is obviously a bit ridiculous (and people will jump in to say its not really meant to be 'intelligent') the huge issue here is that ChatGPT has already got a lot of traction with the wider public as a more intelligent search engine and just as people's social media is now scoured by prospective employers or contract granting decision makers they will now use ChatGPT. Good luck with you getting any deals with your apparent track record that they will be presented with !
  13. So, I asked it the same questions about you being involved in controversies, hoping that maybe you calling it a lying prick might have had some effect. And...well. So, it seems to have dropped the 1DC theft allegation but when pressed further for other controversies, it replied with this.. So you are apparently a fraudster, a racist and a sex pest. I honestly don't know where you get the time 😉 Pressed further for sources, it came up with the same bogus link shit. I then asked it what role EOSHD had in the R5 controversy and it came back with a decent summation. When pressed further though about whether an app was created in pursuit of the testing, it confirmed it was but then went off into fantasy land about what it did and it being sold on here I've got to say that this is horrendous. It blatantly makes stuff up about someone then when the subject of those accusations corrects the record (which should make it smarter) it then immediately pivots and starts making up totally different shit about them. Who the fuck is this "intelligence" actually modelled on? Boris Johnson by the looks of it. The 2020 allegation is interesting as it clearly just randomly tying anything controversial in the camera industry with you as I think we can both guess what that one is about based on a recent settlement. I'm surprised it didn't blame you for the M8 sensor debacle... "Reid is well known for pouring cold water on camera manufacturer's hype and it is believed that the sensors in the Leica M8 began to rust due to this ingress of liquid from Reid."
  14. Its jaw dropping really. Even if you go for the ISO version and go absolutely mad and get eight of the 6K cameras it is just over £21K, which is incredible for what you are getting. Bringing in the camera output over the internet (and being able to control them even down to switching the ND!) moves it on even another notch. Those modular 4 input mic box to MADI converters are also very impressive considering that they then give this new ATEM an internal (up to) 16 input digital console with EQ and Dynamics on every channel. You can achieve something similar with the ATEM Mini as it also has the Fairlight engine built in but its a ball ache and you end up with a rats nest of additional cables and boxes.
  15. And....thats all folks. Nice new ATEM switcher and the two cameras to go with it. Full presentation is here in case you missed it
  16. There is another new camera now. An update of the 4K Studio Camera so, again, likely to be of limited interest to many on here.
  17. 50 minutes in and there has been a new camera revealed which is a 6K version of the Studio Camera with internal ND. It records BRAW to external drives though so thats quite interesting. Not sure if there is another one to come later in the show.
  18. Just watching the live stream and he does confirm a new camera is coming up later in the presentation. It will be upcoming after this extremely awkward "I didn't think this one through properly" presentation of the new ATEM where he is attempting to drive the panel from behind.
  19. Yeah, I don't know the ins and outs of the arrangement but there are certainly slim pickings when it comes to DX lenses in Z mount (although there are a number of them on the lens roadmap) so these Sigma lenses certainly fill a gap for Nikon to encourage sales of the two DX cameras. Canon have the same issue with their RF-S range being small and exclusively fairly slow zooms so could also really do with these Sigma lenses for their R-50. Looks like a triumph of pragmatism over ideology to me but, knowing my terrible prediction skills, Canon will now launch a raft of RF-S lenses next week 🙂
  20. Meanwhile, far from handing out cease and desist notices, Nikon are absolutely thrilled with a 3rd party releasing lenses for their system. Hopefully this might see Canon reverse their policy? Nah, me neither.
  21. The usual suspects of things I think people would like to see, so maybe ... P4K Pro? 8K Ursa? Box version of P4K/P6K ? It could also be an updated version of the Micro Studio Camera or even a PTZ version. The ATEM stuff is very popular so the latter two would find a ready market. As for the ATEM update, it could well be 4K versions of the current Minis. Having said that, I bought an ATEM Mini Extreme ISO last week so I am expecting a severe kick in the nuts of it being slashed in price 🙂
  22. DJI Osmo Pocket/Pocket 2 with the anamorphic adapter is a decent option for holidays. Tiny, great stabilisation, looks half decent and has a lot of creative/practical options built in like panoramas and tracking etc. Also easy to share stuff from it through the phone app for social media if thats your thing.
  23. Before and after of me reading that piece...
  24. In the short to medium term there will be plenty of opportunities for people to have careers as editors of the Ai output. None of the code that I've experimented with it generating has actually worked (or even compiled) without me finessing it and anything creative I've prompted it to do has shown a propensity to frequently - and wildly - overestimate the number of limbs/fingers humans have and the extent of their range of articulation. It has also had a bizarre and somewhat disturbing penchant for creating faces in scenes of crowds where one of them has more than a passing resemblance to the former leader of the National Socialist party.
