Hehe...The video I have will proof you LYING - and will CLEARLY proof the provenience of the screenshot. Anyway...Your aggressive and insulting tonality are a brazenness - but hey, it's internet...

@lucabutera - I'm curious what you will say, if viewing the video on Vimeo. It seems you don't care about your reputation when convicting you for false claims. Your good work with the booster doesn't qualify you for false claims in connection with my footage.

This discussion - insults, conspiracy theories, false claims, etc. - is dull. Noone forces me to do this here. After delivering the first charge of h265 vs RAW and uploading the "false claim video" to Vimeo to proof Lucabutera false claims, I will be out here.

@Matthew Hartman will post the upload link to the footage and the Vimeo link for proofing Lucabutera false claims.

    You will get

    • 5-6 seconds of "classic" 4K NX1 H265 (incl. specifications)
    • 5-6 seconds of 4K NX1 DNG footage, both shot in exactly same conditions to compare (incl. specifications)
    • "The vertical image is a picture [...] You can not get a 1800 x 1200 pixel from a 4k or UHD video frame!" - said Lucabutera. This is a blattant false claim. Just split the coming Vimeo-video in screenshot frames and you will find the screenshot scene posted here

I was not after appreciation, fame, or money. Not even after furious insults and false claims. Many of the guys insulting me are prisonners of their own, small parallel universe - full of boredom, cynism, envy and hate. Go out and get a live. And try to stay polite and open minded.

Just curious how it all ends... When you @Arikhan made this improvement a week before X-mas, everybody would see it as a present. But a week before the 1st of April... I would like to see some footage, as everybody here in this topic will.

    Good morning everybody!

Today I received a "raw" file in my email from an anonymous person.
The image file not suffer from excessive sharpness but precedes by six days the release date.

Trying to look at your picture, but the site 4shared has a lot of download buttons not for the raw file. More spam than file... Can you share it a different way?

Nice topic. This one i did with a modified Isco 36 (now cine Iscorama mkII). I used different taking lenses (voigtlaender 40mm 2.0, Nikon 50mm 1.8, 58mm Helios and i think there was a 80mm Nikkor as well) I used the Gh5 on a Letus gimbal in 4:3 full sensor mode. So the final frame was a 2:1 ratio in 4K. Which gave me a lot of freedom for reframing.

Oh wow! I think i will leave this forum ;-)  This is sooo good! Thanks for sharing.

  4. Perhaps an Idea for a topic about films only taken with Iscorama 36 and Iscorama Cinegon? This one is taken with the Samsung NX1 and Voigtländer Ultron 40mm f2.0. Anamorphic lens the Iscorama Cinegon. It was difficult to focus with minus 5 degrees Celsius and strong wind. More to follow, or who next?

I feel the vintage lenses are increasing in price for lots of reasons.  But as someone who is coming into the game later, is biting the bullet and paying top dollar for a trusted piece of glass worth the premium over the Iscos that are so readily available at almost half the price?

I do not agree for this, You can still buy anamorphic lenses for 'normal' prices. I have seen Iscorama pre 36 and Bolex 16/32 for less than $ 1.000,- But those lenses are mostly gone before you find them. Actually, they are only for minutes on auction sites.

  7. Now filming for a few days in The Efteling, the Netherlands. Because of the low light at evening I decided to build my setup; NX1 + NXL speedbooster + Mamiya 55mm f1.4 + Bolex 16/32/1.5x + Rectilux HCDNA. I had to set the lens not at infinity, but somewhere about 10 meters to get the sharpest results. The film follows later, for now a few pictures.

After all, I am very happy with the NXL speedbooster.

You're my newest best friend here. ?

I was looking at the Rokinon XEEN series but at that point as might as well just buy an Alexa and sell the blood of my first born child. ?

I've done a general search for anamorphic on a PL mount online, but since I have little experience with anamorphic I really have no idea what qualities to look for. I'm finding a lot of affordable anamorphic projector lens, but I'm assuming that won't work?

I really like the look and quality you got with your Bolex, but I don't know if thats unique to the wider format or the properties and characteristics of that particular lens? You definitely have the most experience with this that I've come across online.

I'd love if you could share some of your knowledge, like requirements to get the NX1 to conform with anamorphic, what systems are valued as the gems, what systems are considered acceptable, which ones to avoid.

I wish we lived near eachother, I'd love to talk shop and explore NX1/anamorphic setups with you, because above anything else I've seen in terms of making the NX1 produce a more filmic quality, I think you are onto something with the biggest potential.

I'd like to see some results with some diffusion filters on the end of your Bolex lens, as well as shooting faces with diffused lighting. I think this trifecta is the 3 combo power punch into filmic quality on the NX1.

    And then there's this photo:

And a recent shoot using faux cinescope in Premeire:

Wow, thank you for your Message. But I am only an enthousiatic hobbiest. There are more 'pro' anamorphic filmers at this forum. You can also check facebook, https://www.facebook.com/groups/anamorphicshooters/

I do not have an PL adapter, I normally use an adapter for Nikon to Samsung, to fit a taking lens and on that the anamorphic lens.

Your pictures are really lovely and your setup with the Cooke lens is really dope.

It's good we have internet and that's worldwide. Forums and Facebook to share ideas and experiences.

Maybe I wasn't clear. What I mean is while you're shooting. Isn't your image on the camera's screen "squeezed" ?

Yes Matthew, all the people(and everything) are thin. You cannot desqueeze that in your screen of the NX1 like the GH5 can with 2x anamorphic. But it's Okay.
