Canon as blown its competitors away with this one. You can't come with the crippled talk now. You either pay up or keep it moving. This camera isn't for everyone. That internal Raw is a game changer. Not sure what the issue with file size is. Thats what you get dealing with raw. Canon color + 1DC filmic mojo + log with RAW on a dslr format is insane. I wouldn't be buying this, as this is out of my price range, but I will definitely be loaning this for a few shoots.

You were never going to buy it regardless

I am probably one of the people that didnt mind mjpeg. Complemented the 1dc very well
-
I found the ipb to be quite jittery in motion and the All-I had a buttery motion to the eye. The All-I is easier to edit too. It reminds me of the mjpeg in character. Could have been a frame rate setting issue, but those additional MBs make a hell of a difference from my experience.

Battery life isnt as bad on the eos rp as people make out. I used to own it. Got a f mixture of stills and video for a days shoot . I sold our in the end and went for the R . I could have kept it if not for it lacking ALL-I

Beginning to get the feel of this camera. It's a beast. Something I am going to avoid doing moving forward, is watching alot of these cameras reviews from these so called experts. Nothing beats your experience with a cam. For me, this camera is the best bang for £. I hate rigging cameras , unless necessary. I have kept my setup light. LP batteries and Lens with a hot shoe handle. The images below are from a shoot I dod recently. Set up: 1080p pro res Hq 24, 60 and 120 Tamron 24-75mm 2.8 Iso: 800 and 1000 Shot in film Graded in fcp x No lighting setup, just the fluorescent bulbs from the gym. When with the green tint for the look. I am a canon fan boy so, I want my colours to be rich and pop. This camera is shockingly better than I expected

?The camera is still not idiot proof with these benefits. Had a friend working as my camera OP, and I kept reviewing each shots and adjusting the camera for him. Still requires a bit of a skill Interesting, I havent actually used raw. Just Pro-res 422 HQ. That's why I mentioned the iso. The 1080 I shot recently is just as good as the 4K to the eye. I will eventually start toying BRAW. I i am a straight to FCPX type of shooter. Preference of UI over davinci

Thats a super impressive update. Been very impressed with the BMP4K. I am still shooting at 1080p 60fps with it.(Quick workflow) I think it's the best bang for the buck at the price. I am still trying to work out it's sweet spot. But I think its between 400-640 iso. Thats where I have had the best results. This update pumps some more sellby date into this cam.

All this is meh. Just give me an affordable camera that shoots good. Not interested in all this politics. Doubt any of this revelation will stop red fan boys staning on.

No Ibis? No 8k? That's a no for me. ?

How many sales are Canon losing from enthusiasts due to video shenanigans?
Dunjoye replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
The problem is whatever more they offer, it's just never enough.. All those features you mentioned are in the 1dx mark ii, bar IBIS. Which supports my argument that the niche market for video dont really know what they want , when they often pretend like they do. DSLR Video market is still the only market I know of , where people are trading off their cameras within 6 months to a year looking for the next best thing, they never really need. 1 thing I know is this, canon have offered little innovation on the video side of things on DSLR since the 5DMKIi revolutionary. However, the image as improved significantly over time -

Also explains why there products are littered with bugs. Doubt they even have a QA team over there The way people go on like canon cameras shoots .3gp 240p quality. Never understood people who's say canon footage is unusable.. Dont get me wrong there are other competitors pushing the boundaries for video, most vlog content I come across on YouTube are mostly shot on canon. This dslr video market is smaller and more fickle than we think.. -

If you guys believe canon are done in the DSLR video game, and believe other competitors offer better, why do these type of topics keep popping up every other quarter ? It's either people havent found what they are looking for in the dslr video format and I doubt they ever will.. Canons will always be a stills camera first and they wot change that ethos with their DSLRs. I use them for photography strictly. Videos is my blackmagic. -
Is there still an appeal for ML hacking? I just feel like alot of cameras have caught up. Although no dslr is shooting raw at the moment but the margin in trade off is getting shorter. Not sure what people are really looking for in canon cameras these days. There message as been clear from day. You either shoot on the C line for video or DSLR for pics

It's the way the game goes man. ?

YO!!!] Wont mind this two on my 4k. I will void my warranty for this

In the right hands, the rest is history.

Yeah, I agree that no camera can be future proof. But, some cameras do stand the test of time at least for a 5-10 year period. Red, c100s and co. Within the last 5-7 years, we can agree that the following are now dead in the water. Ursa , UM4k UM4.6K, Micro. Personally, I like the pocket 4k. That was the camera I always wanted the first BMCC to be and with a few firmware upgrades there is soo much potential for improvement rather than a new system in such a short space of time. I use a viltrox speed reducer and the Tamron 24-70 2.8 with my pocket 4k. No rigs, just body and battery and it's so convenient
-
This is dope. However, I think this is way too soon and I worry that they could make the 4k obsolete very soon. Even though I haven't owned it longer than 7 months. Is this the pattern they are rolling with. They are knocking cameras out way too soon for my liking. Bare in mind the 4k was suppose to be future proof. Anyhoo looking at the image I cant really see a significant improvement. I have fallen in love with the 4K and I think it's a gem as long as you shoot within it's sweet spot. Personally this is meh. I can't see the appeal for an upgrade but having an EF MOUNT is very ideal .

#gamechanger Yeah I have heard that buzz word so many times. The camera just like the phone game as peaked. Other than a few innovative features. Focus improvement and what not, It's nothing new to see here.

Tools in the right hands always does wonders. Regardless of the cam

Canon EOS RP specs leaked, features 26MP sensor and 4K video
Dunjoye replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Spot on. There is a reason why every time I attend an event (wedding , conference, sports etc) most of the camera men are using a canon. There is a reason why many organisationuse the C_line for docs... There is a reason why majority of the bloggers on YouTube use a canon. Sometimes doing the basic so well is key. I have said it before, their market isn't the video pixel peepers and spec sheet ambassadors. -
Canon predicting a 50% decline in sales units in the next 2 years
Dunjoye replied to JurijTurnsek's topic in Cameras
Guys, even if the camera had magic lantern raw features it won't make a significant difference to their sales. This is just a sign of the times we are living in. Smartphones cameras and so many alternative options available in the camera market.
