Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???
anonim replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
From my experience with women - that unfathomable beings of absurd - I read these remarks as declaration of deepest connection and love. -
No, quite contrary... but as I see/understand it with my modest knowledge, all concept of comparing DR of GH4 and GH5 in a such way looks to me, say... bizarre, so it seems to me nice to show respect and try to think in comments with touch of bizarre accent So, again, if - in spite of all efforts from Panasonic to convince that GH5 represents progress in every aspect (except battery life and weight) in comparison with GH4 - Mattias with his extraordinaire experience and authority has some doubt - I simply think that it is very hard to uncover something that he already don't know.
-
Of course and you so nicely twice explain your ideas... but meaning of my observation was quite contrary one MB has so much great experience in evaluating cameras and camera tests that, I think, it is "totally unseemingly" that without highly accurate experiment and deep elaboration any of us could help/concure/add in estimation if DR in GH5 is as bad as in GH4 or it is worse to the level that make impossible to live with it.
-
I'd say it is very unseemingly that Mattias Burling really needs any advice about proper testing of cameras and instructions about possible testing flaws
-
If a question means asking for (always redundant as completely subjective) personal advice - I'll dare to answer in smart-ass-sounding manner (so please pardon me for it) Кееp vision, make it live and learn not to be frustrated. Frustration is part of peripheral thinking. While and if you are really fully focused on creation, frustration at those moments disappear. Person who feel frustration in a process of creation, can not make truly art - if it is goal. Actually, enjoy in overcoming and transcending minor or major obstacles is the most powerful fuel for being dignified with important vision (and then being dignified with capability to bring it to a suggestive representative life)...
-
For me truly personal frustration would be if I feel myself so frustratedly dependent of yet (IX 2018.) non existing device and trying to find reasons to justify that dependency - even presuming that others who are not frustrated must not be in demanding position equal to mine - instead of finding a different way to resolve or recompose given task. But, we all are different philosophers

I'd recommend simple test. Take one big mirror and stay in front of it at golden hour, asking loudly: "Do I need new camera for my next masterpiece?" If you hear quiet insider voice saying that you are at the level of possession when making masterpiece depends exclusively of you - you are artist candidate. But if - looking with suspicion to a mirror - you hear suggestive insider voice that ask you "Are this mirror autofocused you enough quickly for deep contemplation? Is your skintone correct? Are you mirrored with enough dynamic range to be able to answer sensible? Does this mirror has the best Out-of-Mirror image to provide natural i.e. "ungraded" answering? ... than you are candidate for very high-ranking between popular contributors in EOSHD asylum.

I'm not sure if these works may be useful as tests, but for the case you missed to view them, here they are
-
But video is clearly entitled "A Memento of Life Teaser - Fujifilm XT-3"?
-
Agree wholeheartedly.. so refreshingly unpretentious man and so modestly noble and politely humble in presentation, without different kinds of aggressive quasi friendly affectation. Not to mention his so nicely passionate devoting examples of artistic and technical vivisection of movies in general, camera works, used lenses, lighting etc.
-
But nobody wrote anything about camera's fault Some strange people just commented video...
-
Maybe it deserves own thread-question - especially regarding proliferation of camera's options and extremely vehement discussions: what more informed users think about proportion/contribution of camera and lens in resulted image quality? And if lenses are more important by high margin, why so much "positive histery" about as-universal-panacea-quality of any single camera (and mount and sensor size etc.) that appears in market? My favorite case that I yet to become worthy in knowledge (and, sadly, time to achieve): https://www.eoshd.com/2013/05/gh2-shot-sci-fi-upstream-color-breaks-300000-mark-at-the-us-box-office/

Pity a little bit - those Veydras look so extraordinaire in your tests ... Of course, there are so many other solutions, but because of their rare truly cinema-construction/quality from bottom to up (as also because of affordability) they are extremely attractive to me as defining decision/choice factor... (I mean, probably wrongly, I found that it is more important to me to first choose lens, then camera that is compatible with it

Oh, yes, I see finally - you are right, I quoted just your provided image, than add my question-comment - I supposed because your original following comment was not quite exactly what I was referring to, it was more global qualities of camera and used lenses. Sorry to hear so, than it really must be - regarding sensibility about related topic - as salt on the wound.... But you wrote earlier about case: "Funny you should mention the Veydras, because one of our very own esteemed forum members, under the guise of a dozen aliases, has gone to the trouble to dislike every one of those videos on my YT channel around ten times, as well as a bunch of other tests I’ve done with other lenses..." - I mean, you used word "Funny", so I mistakenly take it on more relax manner (or little bit humorous) as your own... Again, you are right - I was just by my mistake mislead with construction of sentence: first "every one of those videos on my YT channel" (so I thought "those videos" means "videos on YT channel in general" not being specified to Veydra as "those"?), than "as well as a bunch of other tests", which drive me to mistaken conclusion that "other tests" maybe refers to tests posted in this forum... Than it maybe could be interesting to make and then - as always - generously post some examples with that combination... if it not sounds too much as provocation Besides, as you wrote "If you compare apples to apples"... maybe "apples to apples", in topic of my interest about Veydras behavior on different cameras/sensors, could most precisely mean exactly that?

Now I'm totally confused - RAW 12:1 sounds to me as oxymoron... 12x compression of uncompressed file after software decoding and hardware computing results in what - compression or uncompression, noncompressed compression or compressed noncompression? So now everything is the same RAW? Why than it is said that, in a case of need for better quality, it is better to shoot in, say, 4:1 than 12:1? What a high traffic suspense soon to be expected with high quality codec everywhere, from 1:1 to 24:1 - I'll need a glossary to drive through it... Moreover, and saddest thing, is that I have yet to master and fully utilize poor old ProRes HQ...
-
Sadly, I don't quite understand this sentence, it has to be my English... I mean, of course those are all my own words, why to suppose I'm quoting you? I'm just little bit curious about Sony + Veydra combination if it is possible... Because, looking carefully thread about A7III I've noticed some glorious photo-shots, but all video examples - except, most closely, one of yours made with Distagon lens - didn't repeat - to my eyes at least - that quality... that, contrary, I find mostly preserved, say, in your qouted shot with Veydra... (Actually, one of the aspect that greatly attracts me with modern cameras is possibility to reproduce, to the great extent, color subtlеty of old-master-works... if that quality is, moreover, achieved in moving pictures, it makes, first, great aesthetic pleasure to me, and second, stimulative thinking foundation in comparing past and future... say, original Rembrandt with modern shooting-montage achievement - which you touch with shot of young man with scarf... Somebody has dozen aliases in EOSHD? It is really marvelous case, one of the great pluses for I'm finding so much extra funny here Or somebody makes dozen aliases to up number of downvoting It is even better!

Thanks, wonderful, I'll share it! ... "Grow up, you baby..." ("Please not..." - of course I thought.)
-
Wouldn't it be missed ideal timing opportunity - regarding new BMP4K and more manufacturer's external 10bit solution - if Panasonic technically could, but refuse to implement ProRes Raw codec in both GH5 versions?
-
I see... Thanks sir for illustrative clarification and additional information about your point of view.

I think that understand point, but what interested me is: why your first associative idea is an boxing match?
