Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???
anonim replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
Yes, it must be "The look" -
Thanks, although I know all of that pretty well I was just curious why Wild Ranger would use LogC offer (aesthetically wise) as conversion starting point instead of recommended Main...
-
In the interest of annoying curiosity, is it possible with simple words to describe difference between LogC and, say, Main GHa conversion? Why should - which specific "look" or further grading orientation having in mind - someone use one instead of another? If it is complicate to answer, please don't bother...

edit and correction... I forgot - actually, solo Rollei line was made in Singapoore, not in Japan - if it is of any importance
-
Visually, in general I like them more than Contax - they are full metal and always smaller, so very pretty and... sexy as full set, resembling me to SLR Magic line Construction wise - as I bring some of them to refreshing treatment to master - they are on the same level as Contax, but my impression that they are little bit or two-three more prone to time-passing effect... so try always to find nice condition examples, lubrication etc. wise. Also, zooming operation is stiffer - at least with examples I had. Coating of Contax is always little bit better - so Rolleis are more prone to flaring... but there is, of course, some magic. "Sharpness" and all connecting with image wise, there's no difference between Contax and Rollei, besides, probably, as usual sample variation. BUT... pay attention that signature should always be Rollei Zeiss line... Although Japanese version of just Rollei engraved could be also equally nice, German origin is more proven to quality. I especially liked 35mm 2.8 Rollei Zeiss. Sometimes they are on the market even more pricey than Contax... for example 85mm 1.4 is very very rare, as even more 35mm 1.4 f2.8 line is wonderful as set for gimbal - little and powerful 25mm (strange painting instrument!), 35mm (astonishing smooth rendering from 2.8), 50mm (also sharp from 2.8), 85mm (same as Contax secret 85mm 2.8 favorite). Once upon a time there was an Ikarex 50mm 1.4 concave version - it could be easy the most astonishing rendering lens that I was lucky to try with proper adapter.... extremely rare, but my country is inside old East German optic circle, so these lenses today mostly come from Eastern Europe. Just be careful not to messed them with Rolleinar lenses - these are not at the same league... so just Rolleiflex line...

Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???

Knowing little bit about strong roots of Japanese culture-society tradition, my theory is that Japanese companies will never completely destroyed each other sales wise - but they could be redistributed, reorganized, rethought, absorbed-and-reborn future wise in the background, always also dealing in some universal-meta-plan-level of the-same-society cooperation. Japanese still keep some deep spiral-spreading-family-instinct that made them so brilliantly/paradoxically at the same time the sharpest competitive and mutual protective . -
If this information may be useful for someone: I had 5-lenses set of Rollei Zeiss as also Contax-Zeiss - Rollei version could be very easy "Leitaxed" with cheap chinesse 3-screw replacing mount... such are provided just for Rollei, not for Contax version of mount.

Nice wish, surely nothing wrong with it, and even more surely not deserving downvoting more than some other - also very often including mine. But - it is just completely unrealistic wish, and so you maybe annoyingly occupy place in this precious thread reserved just for serious and strictly product-oriented informations. Simply, there's no IBIS. It has to be, I guess, pretty great and pricey know-how-experienced patent, especially regarding RAW shooting ambition of camera.

Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???

What I like the most is open race of announcement period : "Word on the street is that Panasonic will show a prototype and the final product will be on market during the first half of 2019." So not just in theory, Panasonic will beat BM offer - Panny gives us even more time to wait: potential 9 months according quoted "word on the street". So, battle of virtuality-like using of time in the market becomes more and more seriously shaped: BM made, I think, serious attack on buying decision about GH5s, now FF Panasonic will potentially hit back to still unborn Sony A7S III (probably on Canon mirrorless FF also) and barely born Nikon Z line. In a meanwhile we will be under the threat of further unnoticed hypnosis, namely making another 300 (as minimum) pages of quarrelsome threads, guessing about prototype, calling each other "fanboys", actually living in the passively-guessing recent future (that slowly will become less and less "recent"). Luckily, best answer, I think, is always at disposal: to go out and make shooting art, cat-movies, beauty reminiscences, anything, and... enjoy. -
Actually, for me camera- and post- color manipulation goes totally to the second plan... it seems to me that you dispose with truly high level of object composing, subject positioning and colors-harmonization intuitiveness. Many used angles and tonal compositions are so nicely chosen to provide brilliant accompaniment for according psychological aim... So, if it in general has a sense and if it is necessary at all, I encourage you to invest deeper in drama-shooting treatment, having great talent, feeling and eye, capable to - at favorable circumstances - result in something like, say, Enter the Void (Lets say I have some aesthetic background to dare to notice something like this :)

Wow... I'd call it "educational framing". Bravo!

To whom that yet didn't try it, I recommend using of Edius on PC... It is by far the fastest editor for Windows platform, only one between all NLE that I can use for editing in 4k timeline, even without proxies, with old Dell Precission m4600 laptop (32gb Ram, Quadro 2000m 2Gb). Late versions (8.53 to 9.x) have proper HLG source support (also Arri or Canon C100 etc. files) - and, what greatly impressed me, is remarcable-accurate reading of GH5 HLG 2020 files and than translating to precise 709 rendering. Using of luts is also quick and easy. Even Primare CC task is very fluid with new Primary Correction tool with massive collection of highly smooth responding and precise sliders even for help in curve adjusting. For more complex grading task - although I found newer Edius is extremely capable and fast in grading itself - simplest way is to export timeline as EDL and than instantly import/read it in Resolve with the same clips in the Media pool. As example, this pleasant relax clip was edited in Edius

As Yurolov already mentioned, I think that some shots show so capable DR, which is, of course, expected... Reason why I'm waiting BMP4k'raw (before, say, GH5s) is even greater possibility to conceal/correct critical WB and exposing mistakes I made in so often uncontrolled situation... What is rest for best wish is - better build quality and longer life period without issues than original BMPCC... area where Panasonic is, with Canon 5d's, what I found from experience, so annoyingly superior in prosumer/consumer market (it is incredible that I still find GH1 and 5D II in great condition after very hard usage treatment.)
-
Hattie Mae is so brilliant actress! And I think you did wonderful job so nicely taming the modern oversharpness. Darker mood need darker grading - just it made comparison with Ursa's clip harder because of different atmosphere... I just regret that you didn't somehow, for the sake of the fake game-test, change signature of used cameras... Sorry to say, but I have impression that just seeing the name of Ursa vs GH5 makes impression on some commenting... which, in a case of Hattie Mae's showcase movie is not true because of modest DR request in the scene that provide possibility that GH5 clip looks to me much more OLPFish.

Brief summary of what is known so far -
Nikon Z6 features 4K N-LOG, 10bit HDMI output and 120fps 1080p

Now I finally learned how sounds somebody who is completely out of suspicion to be the fanboy I mean, not just being absolutely sure that one manufacturer is /has "largely a superior product compared to the rest", and not just being even more absolutely sure that all around are people that feel threat and logically hate that largely superior product, but, most important - saying such epochal true in such epic last-line way and intonation, that all mirrors are immediately breaking apart! Thank you, sir, you finally tell to all of that fanboy-pet-cameras unenlightened-cowards full of shit what they deserved! -

Yes, very harsh light makes almost impossible to judge properly... at least for me. I see plenty of blown highlights, as also fully crushed blacks in trousers; of course, middle spectrum is crisp and contrasty, but it is expected... Judging for such my subjective and probably wrong perception, sometimes I'm wondering who and why allows such examples at the pick of promotional wave.. -

I hope this is not Nikon's best -
Hi, you made me serious task, but I resolved it successfully Namely, I can't strictly help you because those examples are not mine, but, after effort of several minutes, I found again from where I picked them few months ago... so maybe you can post question there... Here it is, I wish you to find answer to your question...

Precisely, it looks extremely similar color distribution and balance, as also skintone smoothness - where it is presented - between these two clips... Actually, in GH5-gha example exists, I'd say, even little bit more accurate work and, consequently, sometimes better rolloff protection, but impression is, for me, on the same level (so doubling my fanboyism!)
-
Actually, I have no special admiration for the GH5 (more actually I have admiration just for some people and their works), instead, I hate all camera manufacturers equally because their products are so pricey for my pocket and unfortunately I can't quickly and easy change systems, not to mention to have two simultaneously But I admire fanatics as Sage, firstly because I recognize part of myself in his dedication and secondly because I find this last version of GHa shockingly good... Yes, I predict that GH5 will be in your future... above, just posted, clip The Lane looks, I think, incredibly similar to some of the best Canon ML results that I saw... BTW - typically, I still didn't buy GHa
-
"Lol, not quite..." Why lol I really don't understand why Panasonic didn't already hire you... such capable "hacker" will make their life easier and comfortly prolong life of GH5 to the indeed legendary period of time in regarding field of usage - they already did it with Nick Driftwood... The Lane looks to me really "amazing"... In Tilian-Cocky author really didn't spare sack with a precious grain No, I found it two month ago, but decide to post now because for some time I didn't see contribution to this one, my most favorite thread - simply I like very much talented independent people... Also, I feel a need to approve myself as proud carrier of the fresh-acquired title Fanboy! But, I'm sure you have something to note about similarity with ML and 5D III - but you still hesitate

Panasonic bought you patent for a fortune and will make it as free update?
