@Terry Lee Don't know - at the moment I use Lens Turbo with two Zeiss Distagons. Even at largest aperture I have to use some sort of lowering contrast intervention in post - these lenses are so punchy, but no at digital way. Also, any special flare issue I didn't see in compare with Metabones. Panny 42.5 1.7 is really very capable lens for the price and size - I've already suggest to imacreath not to sell that one, neither 15mm 1.7. But all native autofocusing lenses for me have too obvious videoish effect - what we simply call sharpness, is in fact panasonic intensive internal software base work. For wedding it may just work. So I'm very interested for kidzerecil usage of Tiffen Mist and Sattin fillters... BTW your samples are indeed very (over)contrasted and (over)saturated for my humble taste. But perhaps it has to be such for accentuating special purpose as wedding is... or is supposed to be.
  2. That's nothing new and superwise - Leica still borrow its status from time when mechanical precision and craftmanship was the most important for signification of value. As every handscraftmanship it once upon a time had semi-artistic dignity and it had to be respected as such and - payed. Now, as all we know, times changed. Leica has to buy outer software and processor knowledge - new heart of photo-video items instead of pure mechanical precision and solidness - and precision per se is just matter of calculation of investments of every big players know-how equal competence. Nowaday Leica camera brand depends of minimal user fan base and partially because of that is forced to ask for prices out of logic. Feeling self as a part of an elite club - that's all, but ofr a time when football players earns million for week, actors of one movie gets year budget of midrange state and printing dollars is out of any control, it is quite normal.
  3. Some sort of monodrama, without dialogue but very nicely exploring possibilities If Short include and documentary, this one (look further) is impressive
  4. Well, we need better and more experienced eyes than mine to judge - I'm blocked with a view of black pots and pencils as a letter message from death - you know, association of an ash pot and handwrite, or such things... ) I really and just full subjectively - and of course just from provided mages - like G9 body more than GH5. That secondary screen has special suspense-look when is illuminated. Seriously, I think that quasi erotic pleasure of handling tool is one of the most important aspect in shooting. For me it (G9 screen) look as mobile phone screen that could at the moment be lighten-up and bring to me some sweet and tender message from some unknown beauty... I think that G9 show deep psychological competence of Panasonic construct team - hat down for that mix of romanticism and modernism! Buttons are, I think, better ergonomically posted too.
  5. @Eno Just to mention potential suspect... maybe your eyes simply are not trained as Jon's in looking with ETTC compensation in reserve, so he is not that thrilled or impressed with detecting 0.4 ISO differences in 400% magnification at 6400ISO values.
  6. Sell both and for some time be happy with saved money and - more important - with peace in mind. Seriously. Than look around. New tools principally and in most cases are - although we all try to neglect admitting - indeed more complete and better. Maybe Panasonic G9 will be the best balanced answer - it seems that you'll have enough money for it and some sort of speedbooster. Maybe Sony technician will experience technical illumination and provide marvel in form of undimming screen in a7000 incarnation. Maybe Nikon mirrorless will knock in the door after New Year and show you how to magically make 4k without 2.3x crop in APS and full frame.
  7. @jonpais It is obvious - you can't restrict you and cover all these magical Vietnamese ladies (from your well thought camouflage tests) with miserable 0.82 ETF magnification - you need at least fisheyed 4.0! (Sony, Canon was Eno's special addition, not mine.)
  8. @Eno Hey, question, and following arguments, is not - at least I thought so - how much G9 is video competent (of course it is, andI'd like to get it and send to you right now spreading good spirit of EOS community!), but if it is seriously comparable with GH5! Sony question about - I don't know how sony fans are shooting video - maybe proudly sleeping-dreaming about pure mighty-autofocus human breed
  9. @jonpais Don't worry, at the same moment when mr Caldwell's new mastery product steps into BHphoto, its chinese clone type of Zhongyi will be on the road from the Guangdong for 5x lower price - and I bet that one of the first ceremonial/inaugurational piece will be sent to one famous address in Vietnam
  10. G9 instead GH5 for video work? For me - new best medical symptom-detection test of unbearable GASyndrom Also, have to admit, and sign of special sort of imagination - GAS one: even if something clearly is not meant to be equal (in respective field of products) competitive video tool, we will made and forced it to be! I think that even engineers in Panasonic are openmouthed by such development of reception-events (Guys from western economies, SLR Magic base anamorphot adapter is just 400$ new - with such wonderfull posibilities to play and gain serious aesthetic results about which Andrey Tarkovski could only dream shiped into Solaris station.)
  11. https://***URL removed***/forums/thread/3515608#forum-post-51792972 Comparison between first versions - especially Lens Turbo II in a meantime become significantly better - of course finally without central blue spot.
  12. ... Or maybe sell also and 25mm and buy 15mm - with so efficient ETC in GH5 you get two-in-one and it's a pity not to use it. 12-35 I - most boring pricey dolly (with such annoying zoom flickering in her clinical eyes)
  13. As I already wrote - 18-35 has comfortable zone, I've say to 1.38-1.4 crop (I tested it when worked with 18-35 with BMPCC speedbooster on m43 bodies and had to enlarge ratio because of vigneting). XL make 1.28 crop factor and from my experience it is out of being safe, but tastes are different ("said devil and sit down into nettles" as said proverb in my locals (And... I vote not to letting go all of your native lenses in favor to new love. if you have them, keep at least 15 and 42.5 mm 1.7... my 2 cents although I'm not fan of autofocus lenses.)
  14. @imackreath That quote - is it some of the test calculation problem for photo-elementary school No, as julien416 exactly say - you are safe except from XL enemy.
  15. Well, make calculation alone. With Zhongyi you get 1.452 crop factor. It is inside 18-35 safe margin - for Nikon APS crop is 1.5 and 18-35 is designed for it with some comfotable zone more - e. g. 1.45 is OK.
  16. Slightly bigger crop factor of Zhongyi II is your friend It has crop factor lowering to 0.726 so you are pretty inside safe margin even with 18-35. Personally I used Zhongyi with GH2 witch has multiaspect ratio crop smaller than GH5 - of 1.86 - and there was no problem with full frame lenses, so you should no worry at all with Sigma Art full frame lenses. BTW I found that Zhongyi has very little bit sharper reproduction than first version of Metabones speedboosters.
  17. @kidzrevil Thanks, your statements are always very well supported by real-life shots and - at least I found so - some sort of unpretentious artistic achievements in atmospheric design (for example Tiffen Black Satin test). BTW I saw your impressive use of Tiffen softfilters so I'd like to buy some of them also - as I've seen Black Satin filter has 1-3 level of density, Black Pro Mist from 1/8 to 1. Which one from both you preffere?
  18. This - @jonpais: "... one of the most colorful times of the year in Vietnam; so I chose to shoot in B&W because of my contrarian nature." (As wrote by, for example, Mark Twain - Thumbs up, mr Huck Finn!)
  19. Am I missing something - why nobody doesn't comment simply blown out sky in case of GH5 and A6500 in previous Yuryev's details-test sample? Also, does a6500 always and inevitably show such strong magenta bias (I never had one to check)? GH5 color science looks here (imo) very balanced.

Not so much expensive for once-to-a-life unforgettable pleasure-grief dating, I dare to state... Of course, just R (i. e. fire-ones, censured-ones version are accounted: I got 35mm and 50mm Summicron for 250e and 200e respectively, even 28mm 2.8 could be find for about 400e. Even 28-70 zooms are just of the same silksexy touch for about 300e.

@kidzrevil I think I know that nice feeling of testing artistically flagrance of lenses So damn close to magic scent of women. Just one add to your marvelous Don Juan list - I thought: how I will hate and despise these snobish Leica dolly-ladies once I vivisect them... but, but... they really could go deep under the skin, into the blood and mind, these soft as silk, but devilish hypnotic Leica-sort girls!

@Terry Lee Frankly, I didn't notice any picture-wise difference between Metabones and RJ mk2 speedbooster - had them both, actually I had just Metabones NikonG-M43 and NikonG-BMPCC with BMPCC, Actually, RJ Lens Turbo mk2 to me seems even 0.0011 % sharper. Also, I've omitted Voigt 25mm once I got 17.5. For me it seems better to buy 42.5 as a pair, regarding ETC possibilities of Panasonic cameras.

@kidzrevil to @Terry Lee I'm tending to agree. Nikon ais was my first choice but lately found preAi more interesting. I think that Voigts are just perfect balance in ratio of rendering/controling imperfections - a bit or two better in that regard than speedboosted glourious classic manual lenses (Contax and Leica R, than Nikon or Takumar). As a first choice I've choose Leica R's. Very very same as Contaxes, but slightly noble-softer (less modern-punch) in rendering - although result can be easy achieved in grading. And yes, classic Zeisses really could have minuscule 3D effect, but not so obvious. Modern Zeisses are, in fact, similar in picture ideology to Sigma Art's.

Oh, no - not so pricey Zeiss Contax Distagon 35mm 2.8 (and its Voigtlander Scoparex clone), Zeiss Contax Distagon 25mm 2.8 and Leica Summicron 35mm f2. Actually, I like small and precise constructed manual lenses on m43 body. For me it is so lovely to rotate smooth focus ring and be more envolved in shooting process. IMO, autofocusing is so boring and cocacola styled (Being VIP-importantly in hurry and get some fast sugar emulsion for keep condition for our choef-d-oeuvre's shots!)

Well, for opinions there are some other conneiseurs here who can be more elaborative. From my side - I already did the same - changed 18-35 A for Voigtlander 17.5 and speedboosted Zeiss/Leica.
