  1. Sshhh. we want people to upgrade from the G2 and drive 2nd hand prices down.
  2. Im not sure this is representative of the facts. The crop is only for the very high frame rates. For normal shooting, there is no crop at any resolution... As far as I understood anyway.
  3. Gen5 colour is already usable with all braw footage ever filmed. I guess soon it'll be available in cam too.
  4. V5 is already available for everything previously shot in Braw. I imagine in a few weeks, all cameras will get an upgrade to v5 colour internal too.
  5. I just saw on FujiRumours that people in the UK can rent Fuji gear for 48 hours for free! https://fujifilm-connect.hireacamera.com/en-gb/
  6. This isn't too far off from what you're already doing, but in my opinion is more flexible because of the connector type and 48v phantom power. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1349307-REG/saramonic_sr_vrm1_compact_liner_pcm_recorder.html I tend to use it the other way around to how I picture your setup. Have a lav going into this, and record local. Then plug it into a Rode Wireless go which sends the audio to my camera for monitoring and recording backup audio. What this offers that no other device this size does is Phantom Power 48v, so you can also use this setup for wireless boom, reporter mics and a few other applications, it works very well and means you always have backup audio.
  7. Looks interesting. Could that mean 4k Braw with 35mm crop? I'm also hoping for camera control from a VA. That would give all pockets a really good detachable tilty/twist screen.
  8. Won't Sony complain about that? I don't think it'd be a Micro style body, that's exactly what the Z-Cam is and there's already tonnes of options with Z-Cam, with internal raw and ProRes - what would BMD offer extra? Only Braw and CS.
  9. I think that would upset too many people. The Pocket 4k was only released in September 2018. Releasing a 2nd 'upgrade' already would be a bit much, many users wouldn't upgrade for 8k. Also, putting a higher res sensor in the same body when there's well documented issues with the body design would be irresponsible. They'd have to at least add a tilt screen, change the battery and adjust a few more things. They might put that sensor in a micro body, but that's basically a Z-Cam e2 rebranded. I don't think they'll be announcing any cameras this time around. I think this announcement will be mostly on Resolve, since that was missed with their last announcement and they couldn't show it off at NAB. There will also be firmware updates for their lineup : We know Braw is coming to VA for the Sigma FP, but there will also be more supported cameras and treats for people with the new VAs. Possible Braw on the original Mini 4.6k (not pro) - That would be spectacular. There might be Braw improvements for all systems - higher frame rates? Maybe 4k Braw on the pocket 6k? Maybe the whole process has been refined?
  10. Looks like Braw isn't far off as Blackmagic just updated their SDK: This is only the software side, so once you've recorded the clips. I guess in the next few days they'll release the Video Assist update to allow the recording.
  11. wow, that would be great. I tried raspiraw, but couldn't wrap my head around it. Instead, I created the process using this: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/raspbian/applications/camera.md the same also applies to raspividrgb. but then you get a .rgb file instead of .yuv.
  12. I think it's this, but I recently had to buy a new laptop and Catalina won't let me open it to check. Tomorrow I'll be with my other system, so will try to open it there and make sure it's the correct software. https://github.com/IENT/YUView/releases
  13. It's multiple. I have found a viewer for it and can see the different frames, but there's no way to export it at all from the viewer. For now, I've stopped the quest for raw as finishing the physical build seems more important - though, that's also on hold for now too.
  14. What about something really simple; Natural light only All audio must be recorded at the time of the shot (real time as it where) --- Or it could be joint projects - you post an ungraded edit, and the next person to post their video grades your project. Then have a prize for best story and best grade to ensure there's no sabotaging going on haha. To avoid sending big files, you could send tiff frame grab from each shot for the grader to work with, and then they send you their project for you to copy paste the grade onto the original footage... of course, this relies on people using the same software so might be tough to coordinate.
  15. Is that Sharp 8k Pocket camera still a thing? Will be interesting to compare heat / codec etc. But I don't remember much about the specs of that.
  16. I think, in this case, it's more like plain making jokes.
  17. I'm not all that interest in the camera as I have no plans to upgrade any gear, but this is interesting for me personally, and possibly others:
  18. The thing is, Blackmagic aren't busy laughing at their customers, so they have more time to respond.
  19. If you fit into this market, chances are you're better off buying something like the Nikon P950, which has a built in 24–2000 mm F2.8–6.5 (35mm equiv). Just don't look into things like the 1/2inch sensor...
  20. You've changed, man. Do those cards also transfer Fuji raw to your phone? Fuji cameras don't allow raw transfer over Wifi, but it'd be cool if the card bypassed the camera's limitation.
  21. Getting the slowmo from the XT4 would be really nice.
  22. I use showreels as a way to learn a new NLE. It's in my interested to make a good showreel, but there's no time limit, so you can really explore the tools and work out how to get the exact look you want. If possible, work from original material, not cutting scenes out of already finished work. That way you can also learn colouring in the new NLE as you can try to match the original final look. EDIT: Also, if you're making a reel from your own footage, it's a nice way to analyse your work and work out why this shot looks better than that one etc.
  23. DCI and UHD? Sorry, didn't see that this was already answered haha. I'm out of the loop with Canon. What's their raw video like to edit with?
  24. I've never heard of updating the firmware on a storage device. Bonkers! Thanks for the tip though... Where I am, 1tb is in-stock basically everywhere, but 500gb is not quite so available.
  25. This seems like a pretty weird place to be so blunt about something objective. Feels like it's much better suited to a personal message with some kind of polite wording around it... Just my 2 cents. -- What I don't like about camera designs like this, is they seem so reliant on menus. For example the mode dial; before switching you first have to press another button so the dial knows what it's selecting, then watch on the screen to make sure you're in the right mode. With Fuji, for example, I know that flicking the mode dial all the way to one side, puts me in video mode. I can do it behind my back and know for sure I'll start recording a video when I press the shutter. That said, maybe it's a non-issue for cameras with a separate rec button. Can this record a video in any mode?
