  1. I would agree, but not necessarily the cameras. Their switchers, encoders, surfaces, control boards and all those kids of things are where the money is. The cameras are cheap to get people on the lower end using their gear and knowing the brand. DaVinci comes with them for free because once you start using it, you'll want to progress and step up to the next tier. That means you'll buy the hardware to help with that, which is also made by BMD. So while the software is cheap/free and the cameras are low priced, I would agree with @nathlas - They want everyone to be using Resolve because then they have a cornered market for the accompanying hardware.
  2. 50fps looks like silk, film does not. That's why they're saying it looks more videoy.
  3. I read this question as physical depth of the camera, from front of the lens to the screen. If that wasn't the question, I'd still like to know
  4. It's strange they put version numbers on at all. Since so far all updates are free, they could just not even mention it on the packet thing. Also, it's nice to see it's not just double the price for 6k and EF mount. There's also a strap!
  5. @mercer Here's everything Grant mentioned regarding the P4K update v6.6 expected 'in a month or two'. 1. Many more HUD languages 2. One screen level, using built in gyrochip. 3. Gimbal support to allow start stop and focus on popular gimbals. (No mention of what those are) 4. 4k 2.4:1 - s16 - 1.33x anamorphic desqueeze & 16x9 preview - 4:3 anamorphic 2x desqueeze preview 5. Hopefully a few other little surprises
  6. Interesting sensor comparison. The 6k is slightly smaller that s36, but the 4k is large (wider but shorter) than mft.
  7. Yeah, my thought process was, you can already do that and always could, just crop in post. But as been pointed out, this new in camera crop will save space and time, and we definitely need to do that with the way the world's looking these days.
  8. There's no reason it won't. EFs are made for APSC sensors, which this is. The only reason they don't work on speed boosters is because the glass in the booster stops the lens from clicking into onto the mount. On the P6k, there's no glass between the mount and the sensor, so nothing to get in the way.
  9. It’s probably a stupid question, and I’m missing something, but what's the advantage of an in camera crop to s16 over using the whole sensor and cropping in post? Couldn't they just add s16 frame lines to help you get your shot and then you can adjust it later. That way it's the same advantage as shooting 6k for 4k delivery... right? Or even better, allow the s16 frame to fill the camera monitor, but the actual file has the full 4k image, vignette and all.
  10. Firmware 6.5 is already out, but ONLY for the 6k camera. Is there really no option for 4k and 1080 Braw?
  11. Isn't it pensive piano music and slow motion shots of your girlfriend walking through a park with a teal and orange LUT?
  12. My experience with ML raw is limited, but Braw is much easier to work with and you can put it straight into the NLE and go. It also has half baked luts, so you have a near perfect SOC file with all the luxuries that come with raw. Ive also found its less noisy and often more forgiving that ML raw, but like I said my experience with ML is limited and it’s entirely possible I’m doing it wrong.
  13. But how many people bought the lowres 4k version before seeing any footage? People just trust that BM cameras look nice, and that's a pretty good reputation that they've built for themselves... despite the many other, more negative sides of that reputation.
  14. They fit the Ursa line, so I don't see a reason they wouldn't fit this. They only don't fit speedboosters because there's extra glass between the mount and the sensor.
  15. Especially with the dedicated Teal and Orange mode. https://fstoppers.com/gear/sigma-fp-has-built-teal-and-orange-color-mode-and-its-certainly-eye-catching-395686 Not so much eye catching to me. More I watering.
  16. It does have dual ISO. 400 and 3200
  17. @Snowfun, It looks like a Tentacle Sync: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1372225-REG/tentacle_sync_te1_sync_e_single_set.html/DFF/d10-v21-t1-x856237/SID/EZ
  18. Anamorphic modes are coming to pocket 4k, also s16. Take a leaf out of @BTM_Pix's book and epoxy the booster onto the camera and eliminate all hassle forever... or leave it on there without the epoxy
  19. At twice the price, I still think I'd buy the P4k and a booster over the 6k. There's many more lens options. If the 6k had more 4k framerates, things might be different. I don't see it as worth the upgrade, but I don't think it's supposed to be either.
