Looks cool. Full cage looks a bit cumbersome to me. I'm sure they've thought about it, but I feel like it'll get in the way of all those buttons on the top. Would be nice to see a top view.

I suppose so. But the other link I posted can still do that as well. I've only used Resolve a little, but I remember the dual screen mode giving you full screen windows on both monitors. I also like to have room for the script etc. So even with this Resolve setup and the BMD eGPU, 3 screens AND a colour accurate monitor would fit the bill. Anyway, it's kind of off topic, and is down to your my preferences. For some reason, when I saw this product, I assumed it would be much better than the competition, but to me seems the same or even less flexible for more cash.

That seems a bit limited compared to this though.. maybe it has a better graphics card, but from where I"m sitting you can do more with the one @BTM_Pix shared earlier in this thread (https://www.scan.co.uk/products/gigabyte-aorus-gtx-1070-gaming-box-thunderbolt-3-rgb-graphics-box) It seems smaller and can run an additional 4 displays. For myself, I like to edit with 3 screens, and the BM would only allow me to do that if I use the MacBook display as one of them. Which is fine I guess, but you can't beat 3 of the same displays all calibrated and coloured in the same way. Does anyone know if the BM box is upgradable?

I just found this app: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cascable-wifi-camera-remote/id974193500?mt=8 It's free for a lot of features, but for raw you need the 'Pro' package. You can get a free trial of 'Pro' to use for a few days, and if you like it, you can choose between monthly subscriptions ($2) or out right purchase for $30 - it's a little steep, so I suggest making the most of those 3 days and really get to know the features to figure out if it's worth it to you. It's also got lots of other great features for wifi cameras, but I"m not sure how useful they are with a 7d

Check out the app Polarr - it's really easy to use and has a tonne of great features, including things like making eyes bigger, noses smaller etc. Quite fun to mess about with, and can be used very tastefully for a number of things if that's what you're into. You can also save your presets if you make a look you like for a certain lighting, and you can import LUTs- and of course batch processing. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/polarr-photo-editor/id988173374?mt=8

I'm 100% certain it'll be within the next couple of months.

Now Ronin-S has a follow focus for GH5.. and my thoughts about it
Anaconda_ replied to Amazeballs's topic in Cameras
Blackmagic say they "have published a new, open protocol and developer API so that anyone can create their own remote camera control solution. You can find this on the Blackmagic Design Support page." Supposedly smart folks will be able to use this to create a Bluetooth controlled follow focus. -
Thatt's he one I was looking at too. Seems pretty decent, and will definitely be an upgrade for a MBP, for a fraction of the cost of a full upgrade. It's not future proof like the ones where you buy separately, the housing is small, limiting the GPU you can use later. so when we switch to 8K VR in 3 years time, it's like starting fresh from this point...

I've been thinking of doing something similar. Do you have a rig you've been looking at?

I spoke to my dealer (camera dealer that is) about B&H's 3rd Sept date. They called BM Europe who apparently said they have never confirmed the 3rd to anyone. I then notice B&H changed their date. Read into that as much as you like, I'm looking forward to hearing the conspiracy theories ranging from a leaked release date to definite delays ?

ZCam E2 4k footage in the wild, including ungraded and 120fps
Anaconda_ replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
Surprised nobody's posted this yet, but there's more footage and original files to download. 120fps graded: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1h7s7w21AWbu_ExvcluOTwk3A_-A1bsmU/view 120fps Zlog: https://drive.google.com/open?id=13flDM9StynsRi-DuaSHoihz1XBPGsG5V -
Sorry to go off topic, but SmallRig are already working on a cage for the P4K, and a holder for the Samsung T5.

Again, agreed. But what if you're looking for John's info? Would you look here? You're focusing in the wrong part of my post. Those were just some basic examples of what forum threads mean to me. I don't think it's 'all of a sudden' either. You can't 'complain' about it before it happens. Anyway, those were just my thoughts, take it or leave it.

While I mostly agree, I see forums such as these as reference points for the future. Think in 3 years time, someone wants some information about this camera and they have to sift through @John Brawley's great, but off topic discussions. Similarly, if in 3 years I wanted to know the information he's shared here, I wouldn't think to look in a thread about a specific camera. Agreed, but it's got to a point where it's much more than that, and having it's own thread would make that information a lot easier to find and would give it more weight. He's not just some guy contributing to a discussion, but he has his own thread dedicated to sharing his insights! In fact, a separate thread about which lenses might be good for this camera was created. That has more connection to the original discussion here, so why not make a new one for John too? It makes much more sense (to me at least) Or, just an idea, we could just let this thread lie dormant until more information comes up. Most threads sink to the bottom when there's nothing more to contribute, let this do the same until there is footage or whatever. It doesn't HAVE to stay at the top of the first page until the camera is released and beyond. When I come on here and see this thread at the top, I expect to see something interesting about the P4K, like how it works with a gimbal, or that the release date has been pushed etc. The last thing I think I'll be reading is a discussion about why the LS300 has sold less units than any other camera, and that the mount/sensor choice did or didn't make sense at the time.

My main question is will the start, stop and focus knob on the S work with this camera? Focus, for me, would be the most important. BM say it's not yet compatible.
-
No judgment from me, I just find it interesting that these kinds of things exist and are so big in many places in the world. Who would have thought you can make a living from eating dinner.
-
I've seen videos of someone eating their dinner. The idea is if I you're home alone, you can eat with them...

This is certainly an interesting phenomenon. Seems you either love it or hate it. The Japanese artist thing is great, well shot, interesting and the sounds really give it something extra. The girl liking fake ears for 25 minutes though... not my bag. @Grimor what's it like when someone eats with their mouth open next you? Is it a similar response?

Going off the street photography for practice thing. You could try making a series of 1 minute docs about your town. Episode 1 - the people there, try to get comments from people on the street about what they like/dislike about the town Episode 2 - the business and shops there Episode 3 - the parks and recreational spaces Episode 4 - what's there for tourists, what do they think of the town? Episode 5 - tell us about the nightlife. This will give you an interesting story, and hopefully something you'd be keen to edit and produce. While also giving you all kinds of situations to test your gear out. I doubt it'll take more than a day to film each episode, and limiting yourself to 1 or 2 minutes means you can edit it in an afternoon. It also means you'll be more careful with what you shoot, since you don't need hours of broll.
-
Well then why are we here discussing cameras? If nobody cares what tools you're using, grab a 550d to shoot stuff and edit it on a $200 laptop. You're right, tools don't make you a better workman, but they can get you more inspired and change how you work. The hammer analogy is much too simple, the way you hit the nail (or your thumb) never changes, but the way you encode the footage, light your scene and basically use your camera definitely does change depending on which one you're using. My previous point was, there's no clear definition of consumer - prosumer - pro, but whats more important is how you use each camera and what you're using them for. EG a 'consumer' GX80 in a professional broadcast setting doesn't change that it's a 'consumer' camera. Like you say, the audience don't care what camera I shoot with, and in those settings, the GX80 fits the bill.
-
You mean because the FS7 is pro and LS300 borders pro and prosumer? While I totally agree that those cameras listed aren't really 'prosumer', it does depend on how you classify that category. If you go by price for example, then yes they're not top of the range, pro movie cameras, neither are they consumer cameras. Since they can be used for both if you wanted to though, maybe prosumer is a good category for them? If you're making music videos and documentaries, they are the cameras pros are using, so does the way you use a camera change it's classification? If so, I semi-regularly use a GX80 in a professional setting for TV broadcast... does that make it a pro camera? Of course it doesn't. I would generally class those cameras @Savannah Miller listed as pro, but then what would you call an Arri? Maybe also pro, but for a different purpose? Pro mkii ?

Haha hilarious! I opened a calendar and counted until 5th August. That's fantastic. Edit: 5th of any month is irrelevant anyway - Doubling down on stupidity today!

B&H reckon they'll be shipping on September 3rd. That's 5 weeks from now. That's not very far away at all. I would have thought with so little time between now and delivery, BM would know by now if they're going to meet the target date or not. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if they already have warehouses in a few countries full of packed up cameras ready to ship out. Then again, I have no idea of the manufacturing and shipping industries... maybe they'll make and pack them all on the 2nd for next day global delivery. ?
