I would be interested in a lens adapter solution only, I don't have any problem turning my VND manually, but I hate to constantly switch it unscrewing from one lens to another. But I don't understand how could you pull it off technically, as the flange distance would be changed. There is already an aperture ND adapter but it works only with adapted lenses for obvious reasons. But if you can pull it off somehow, that would be a miracle for sure. I would pay.. probably up to 200$ for such a device. Actually I do have an idea about another device for lumix cameras which I wanted to share with you. Will do in PM.

Great idea about Oly 45 1.8, I might just get one actually. And it's around 200$ used.
-
I will pass on that option if it costs me 800$, so let's concentrate on other aspects of best bokeh mft lens. Manual focus is not a deal breaker for me.
-
I've seen comparisons and the difference of bokeh between Noct and Oly 1.2 primes is neglegible though with a slight edge for Oly. The problem for me is that Oly costs twice as much comparing to a used Noct in my country. And I can get Noc for around 800$ right now. Still feels expansive though.

I've been trying to figure out which one to get. I'am currently stuck between 42.5 1.7 and 1.2. The difference in bokeh doesn't seem to justify the difference in price and weight. And small Pana can focus much closer giving me an option for even more bokeh for semi-macro close ups shots. Any thought on which one to get for video? I know that MF on 1.7 is terrible for video, how is 1.2 focus ring in that regard? Is there difference in AFC? Anything else I might have miss? Besides dual is 1 vs 2. I also have 25 1.4 for more wide shots so I need a portrait lens now. Oly 75 1.8 is not what I want cos of the distance it needs and lack of any OIS. On telephoto lenses dual IS starts to metter. I am not listing Sigma 18-35 cos it's AF is pretty bad.

Yeap, it does: "An improved CTU segmentation, as well as a better motion compensation and spatial prediction require much more signal processing capability for video compression, but has a significantly less impact on the amount of computation needed for decompression." So its better for editing but for recording its even more power hungry. I guess thats why we still dont see it on GH5, who has the best processor and a hit pipe through all of them. So I would not expect h.265 considering that even for 4k30p on A73 needs a crop. Sadly I expect the will continue that low megapixel trend which nobody really needs at this point. I would much prefer A7S3 to have the same sensor as A73, but other features, like: - flip out screen - build in variable ND - modern menus with touch support - better IBIS - higher fps both for 4k and FHD Could not care about another low light sensor less.
-
Waiting for Mavic 2 as well. Hope that the weight and price have not inflated too much, just a bit.
-
Well I have G85 which has the same IBIS as GH5 and when I got G9 I have seen a noticeable difference. GH5\G85 IBIS is still quite brilliant but the difference is there. Specwise its 1.5 stops ahead.
-
yeah, I am starting to think about getting GH5 actually its about what I need more, and I feel I need focus transitions, uncrippled slowmo bitrates and the rest of the GH5 goodies more then better IBIS and 60 gram lighter body. Dont care about better EVF. Hires mode though I would miss.

Well, I needed monitor for gimbal shots, but now when I got the camera I am not sure it is capable of those shots to begin with. Cos its autofocus still suck. Yeah, yeah, same old story. Those tests ppl make on youtube, they use contrast background and foreground, but if you try to do it with not a very contrast setting.. well it works like 50% of the time + often hunting and pulsing on the final movement. Damn. And you cant tune it in anyway, there is no setting like on GH5 for sensitivity and speed. And slow mo bitrates are crippled. Only 150 and 180p with no AF and 20 mbps.. not very great. One thing I did enjoy was its IBIS.. it is a really substantial upgrade. I am coming from G85 so its IBIS already quite good, but even then I was surprised. But not sure extra 750$ justify my upgrade. I want reliable AFC and good quality slow mo. Will do more tests in upcoming days. Maybe I will return it and wait for upcoming Photokina for A7S3 and GH6 announcement. You can do some really impressive hand held shots with this camera, like imitations of slider shots. Pans and tilts are almost gimbal-like.

Was wondering how well this setup might work. I prefer G9 over GH5 for a lighter body and better IBIS, though its video functions are somewhat limited. Would I be able to get them back or even improve on them by using Ninja V5? Like getting 10 bit 4k60p output from G9 to Ninja? I know that the sensor is the same as GH5 and the processor as well. Does anybody know? Or any other external monitor with 4k60p. Atomos seems to have the best option right now.

Thats seem like a good option. Could you give me a link to that specific head? They make so many similar clones..
-
As far as I dug out there seems to be a very few fluid video head in this category: - Manfrotto Befree MAMVH400AH head = 370 gram, 100$ - Sirui VA-5 = 530 gram, 150$ - FEISOL VH-40 = 600 gram, 135$ - Benro S2 = 400 gram, 80$ Didnt find anything else At first Manfrotto seems like a good bet, but I use arca swiss base plate on my camera so its not very comfortable for me. On Benro I have seen many negative reviews and its not arca swiss either, though cheep and light. So which one to get? Weight is of importance cos I am frequently traveling. Sirui seems like the one to go, but I cannot try it in my country shop, I need to order. Any suggestions guys?

Can someone help me to match Yi 4k footage with Panasonic cameras?
Amazeballs replied to Amazeballs's topic in Cameras
I user Resolve, will watch it, thanks! I guess that is what I need. Funny that I am subbed to Casey anyway, but havent seen this video yet. -
Natural or flat profile (for Yi 4k) - not so important, anyone will do. Maybe someone has a LUT already or a link where to get it? I shoot in CineD, but if you have something that matches Natural Panasonic profiles that would be fine as well. Struggling to do by myself cos my colorgrading skills are very basic.
-
Why do you need it? Is it for some debugging purposes? I mean you can clearly see all this data on a camera screen as well. Anyway what I would like to see most of all is a small sensitive joystick, mounted in that hot shoe that would control lens focusing In a perfect scenario it should protrude to the right side so I could move it with my thumb finger of my right hand which is holding camera grip simultaneously.

Can someone explain WHY Panasonic still have not put PDAF in their cameras? Is there a technical limitation for that? Sony figured out this just fine in their Alpha 6300-6500 line, what takes Panasonic so much time to invent or buy this tech and apply it to their cameras? Everyone knows that Panas CAF is unreliable and this is there Achilles heel, everyone is bashing Panasonic for that.. and yet they still didnt figured that out for some reason. Do you think they ever going to introduce PDAF in their cameras at all? Or they will stick to their contrast based AF for eternity?

Micro Four Thirds Cinema Camera with ISO sensitivity up to 409,600??
Amazeballs replied to IronFilm's topic in Cameras
Low light capable M43 sensor sounds pretty sweet. I wounder did they actually develop this by their own, or its a tweaked sony sensor same as GH5 and OMD-Em1 II are using? Would be nice to see ISO tests from this camera. -
Released! 4 Panasonic Firmwares; GH5, GH4, and two lenses

AF much improved from what I can see. -
Why I feel Panasonic treats all but GH5 users as a second class
Amazeballs replied to Amazeballs's topic in Cameras
No, its body only price. I dont think its a relevant argument. Technology is moving ahead fast. In some areas faster then in other. If you compare 5 year old GPU and current the difference in performance would be huge. But thats how it works, technology evolves really fast. And yes, Panasonic is at the cutting edge of it, which I do love them for. So comparing this camera with previous generations is not really fair, though I do agree that G85 or GH5 or GX85 are all very good value cameras. Maybe thats a difference of your personal perspective, cos you do video for a longer time and can appreciate those leaps in cameras development. For me, G85 is my first camera on which I shoot video at all. -

Can someone do some adequate AF tests? A-la Max Yuriev style.
