  1. Now some chinese manufacturer need to make a 250$ phone with an HDMI input and mock Sony with it.
  2. You have boring arguments. Ofc 3080 would be faster than M1, but it is a francinstain solution - unportable, expensive, the one that doesnt work without its own power socket. If you need more power it is logical just to go desktop or wait for M1X.
  3. Apple really kicked in the nuts all other laptop manufactures with their chip. I just dont see any point to invest in a power hungry x86 based laptops anymore. I percieve them as last gen. Would be really nice to see the competition on Windows side with their ARM silicon as it should widen the price gap between Macs and PCs even more.
  4. The idea is a couple of years too late. Now new M1 macbooks will be cheaper, lighter and a more portable solution for video editing. There is just no point in sucn a monster. You either buy a desktop PC, or you go with Apple if you want to edit on the go. And you wait for new MBP 16 and 14 if you want more portable power.
  5. Also shared memory between CPU and GPU is another potentially huge thing. Imagine having 32 or even 64 gigs with such a system. You usually don't need a lot of RAM for video editing and Apple is quite efficient with memory management. So GPU could be feeded with lots and lots of memory. Cheaper and more effective.
  6. Another interesting fact - M1 graphics is mostly on par with NVIDIA 1650 mobile. Maybe a tiny bit behind. BUT 1650 - is 50 Wat average power consumption. And M1 is 13 Watt WITH THE CPU. Apple M1 single core CPU performance is around 1750 in Geekbench, AMD 5800H - 1500. Yes AMD has more cores, but Apple should at least double their performance cores in M1X. And same goes for GPU cores. Double the 1650 performance is about GTX1070 level. Now imagine 1070 plus most powerful CPU in a notebook and all in 35 watt package? Sounds pretty hardcore for me. Poor Intel. And Apple still has the power envelope to add more GPU or CPU cores if they wish. They can make M1X 50 watt if the want no problem.
  7. well.. I hope this leak is true and you are right. I will be very happy about that for sure.
  8. Not sure about that pal. Apple has been working on their A chips - for more than a DECADE now. And they even had Jim Keller (who is probably the most talented CPU developer of the era) who both co-developed A4 for Apple and Zen for AMD. Apple have been ironing out their A series processors for such a long time and M1 is just a modification of A14 Bionic. So I have serious doubts that AMD will be able to catch up SO FAST as by the end of this year. And don't forget that we also have NVIDIA who bought ARM and they for sure want to enter the game as well. So ARM will ofc come to a Windows world but defiantly not as fast as all of us want that to happen.
  9. You will have to wait until they make an ARM chip I guess. Right now in terms of chip effectiveness and power per wat Apple is unreachable. I am talking about CPU&GPU. I prefer to wait until MBP 16 with M1X or whatever it might be called.
  10. Filmic Pro sucks I'd suggest to try mcpro24fps, it has 10 bit support in many more phones and overall a much better product for phone filmmaking
  11. The only downside of such design - you cannot stick a VND there now. But if Viltrox done it that means it might become available for other manufactures if they would dare. Maybe Xiaomi would take another try? πŸ’©πŸ™„ Give us Xiaomi with Sony A7S3 sesnor for 699$ πŸ˜…
  12. Pretty pretty cool. Now they need to figure out at least a decent AF and maybe an IBIS..
  13. You can just try to use a compact Gimbal (1 kg, like Webill S or new DJI ones) to do perfectly smooth pans. And besides.. you will have a gimbal πŸ™‚
  14. Possible M1X spec leaks: -12 Cores - 8 performance cores - 4 high efficiency cores - Coming first on a MacBook Pro 16” unveiling as a press release - According to a source who used a prototype, β€œif you think M1 is fast, you haven’t seen M1X”. -Name isn’t final though No info about graphic cores yet, but I predict they will at least double their count. Same about RAM, but I guess we will see 16\32 GB versions. Also rumored release date - Q1 2021 (I do hope so)
  15. Those machines look very promising. I am hoping that we would see MBP 16 soon like in half a year with something like M1X having 3-4 times the performance of a current chip. And 4 ports + baseline 1tb storage model please. Another very cool thing is that if we take a look at their mobile phone chips, they double the performance every year, unlike Intel. So we might have a chance for a very rapid evolution of those processors.
  16. Now I want to see 4k 422 H265 davinci results pushed with a grade on a maxed out MBP πŸ˜†
  17. Why would need anything ARM based there? Its notebooks where ARM shines in terms of power per watt.
  18. I would doubt about anything soon. We still cannot get proper AMD CPU based notebooks. Apple had this in development for a long time.
  19. I was not considering a Mac before but I am considering now. Its all about the performance in Resolve for me. I am waiting for the real benchmarks. Wonder how H265 4k clips will perform.
  20. Are they doing it only in a deafault camera app? Or is it possible to get it in non-stock apps as well? Which smartphones do 4k60 this way?
  21. Yep, my bad, they sound a bit similar. But anyway, would it need the top of the line huawei processor to pull that trick out of its hat?
  22. If it will, I might just get a P40 that costs about 500$ now, has same sensor and processor as Mate 40, so the iq should be identical. And its smaller. I would put in on a gimbal and use exclusevly as my portable video gimbal camera.
  23. So thats what Huawei says about their new Mate 40 pro among other things: Shoot cinematic footage on a mere whim, thanks to the XD Fusion HDR Video mode that renders each frame with faithfully optimised detail, colour, contrast and brightness, via custom multi-exposure imaging. Video quality is significantly enhanced, even in low-light conditions, with little-to-no over-exposure across the image, and the subjects' faces will be remarkably well-lit. Isn't that what we all been waiting for some time? Now as it is a software based thing it thereotically should be avaliable on all phones who have strong enough chip to run it, right? I am still waiting to see that thing in action, not many video samples online. Also curious if it will run on other Huawei phones after some updates.
