Shooting on an EOS R, right? Please shoot a FF still and see how big the image circle is so we can find out if it will work on the larger Komodo sensor! It won't be exact, but if you just figure out how many pixels wide you could go with a 16x9 frame, and then divide 6720 by that number, it should give you the maximum size it will cover in terms of crop factor. So, fingers crossed it covers ~5200px on the EOS R.

Trust me I'm no fan of RED the company but a phase-detect, global shutter, reasonably priced, compressed raw, non-proprietary storage, compact camera that with the metabones is FF equivalent? Yes please! Obviously it's early and we don't know the full story but this has me interested. And the EOS R could at least be a reasonable idea now... JK ? but I can't wait to see this on the RED. https://metabones.com/article/of/Introduces_Canon_EF_to_EOS_R_SpeedBooster And for some reason it's the cheapest speed booster (at least compared to the popular EF-E and EF-MFT versions).

Right?? idk I couldn't find anything online on how to fix it. It's frustrating because in many cases it would be fine but I'm not comfortable using them for anything professional - "Actually I'm sorry, [client], I can't get that shot... my lens doesn't focus far enough." ? I've already got a .64x speed booster and a 50mm 1.4 so it was really the gearing that was the biggest reason I bought the SLR

Update I still haven't had much time to use the new SLR Magics (10mm T2.1 and 25mm T0.95 MFT) because I'm in post on a tv doc, but I'm disappointed: In the stills I posted above, I was very happy to have the crazy T stop and get all that light, but upon further use I discovered the 25mm didn't focus to infinity unless stopped down to about 2.0. I'm not talking that it wasn't sharp wide open: it would focus about 25 ft in front of me and that was where the plane was. So I replaced it with a new copy and it's only marginally better. It can go about 40 feet I'd say wide open, and you've gotta stop it down to about 1.6 to get infinity. There's also a noticeable color shift when going wide open vs stopping down even a little bit. Then I figured I should make sure the 10mm doesn't have the same problem and it's a lot harder to tell since it's so wide, but I think it does. Just eyeballing it but it looks like it makes it about 100 ft max when wide open. WHAT? It's a lot harder to tell because overall I'd say it's just not a sharp lens, and we're dealing with a lot more depth of field, but come on it shouldn't have a problem focusing to infinity on a 10mm. So, very disappointed. Guess I'll be returning these. I was excited for the small size but it's not worth it.

Blackmagic Micro Cinema Super Guide and Why It Still Matters
EthanAlexander replied to crevice's topic in Cameras
@mercer Don't fully know what's happening in this thread but it seems like you'd love the Z cam - you can natively run your phone as a monitor either over wifi or by plugging it in, in which case it charges off the camera's power. It's a lot like the Micro but with 4K and a larger sensor. Not sure the exact size comparison but it's a tiny cam, as well. -
Apple releases 16 in MacBook Pro with better thermals!
EthanAlexander replied to Shell64's topic in Cameras
I guess I'm in the minority on the forum enjoying Apple. When I have to take out my wallet, being on mac sucks, but it's worth it just to be able to use FCPX and avoid Premiere. Maybe one day I'll have the time to learn Resolve for anything besides color and consider Windows then... Nahhh just kidding I'm a fanboy I'll never leave. -
FX9 will get full frame 50/60p via firmware @DmitriZigany https://pro.sony/en_PE/products/professional-cameras/fx9-firmware-roadmap

To be fair, almost any lens wide open is soft, but I get your point. On the flip side, it's great when you need a lot of extra light - you can open up to 0.95 and still be getting the depth of field of a 1.8 so you're getting a bunch of light and at least a chance of getting things in focus at the same time ?

Z Cam E2 will have ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FPS in 4K??
EthanAlexander replied to IronFilm's topic in Cameras
So far there's no way to transcode ZRaw on Mac. It's also I think 1.2Gbps just for 30p lol so that's about 1.5x the size of ProRes 422 HQ. Got to shoot a live band setup last night and I am SUPER impressed just with the ProRes 422 and even h.265. Only had like 30 min to play around with the footage but you can push and pull the image like nobody's business. Almost to the point of raw with the ProRes. This is all with the E2 non-C version, but of course ProRes is ProRes and I wasn't even shooting HQ. Moving images, please. ? -

Can't wait for the footage COUGH @Zak Forsman COUGH Meanwhile, I just got an E2 and I'm so impressed so far even just by its size and the phone app. Only had it like half a day but here's some footage I shot at 4K60 (180° shutter) in ProRes 422 with ZLog... -

I can't really recommend enough getting the cheaper 1.8. It's SUPER light, obviously super cheap, and unless you need to do HUGE crops I'd say it's plenty of resolution. I haven't ever wished I had more, anyway. It's actually got the best chromatic aberration score:
