Panasonic announcing a full frame camera on Sept. 25???
Dan Sherman replied to Trek of Joy's topic in Cameras
I don't think he was referring to you. I think he was referring to the legions of a holes that pop up across the internet claiming m43 will be whipped out by smartphones or FF mirrorless! Honestly photography & videography trolls are worse than just about any other type of troll I've encountered. -

Why are you posting on the Panasonic FF thread again? From all I can tell you just like to attempt to antagonize people! -

O please, It was ridiculously expensive when launched if you wanted 4k video. March 2012 1DX $6,799.00 (suggested retail body only) May 2014 GH4 $1,699.99 sources: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EOS-1D_X https://***URL removed***/articles/5485059243/panasonic-uk-announces-price-and-availability-for-lumix-dmc-gh4 -

Potentail reasons: Fanboyism for a different brand Fanboyism for a different format Feelings of inferiority about ones current gear Incorrect believe that they are being held back by gear that is not the absolute newest available Out of control GAS that needs justification for buying something new cantankerous personality by nature -
This might trigger Andrew, But The Grand Tour used the GH4 extensively. http://www.definitionmagazine.com/journal/2017/3/7/the-grand-tour-the-small-camera-story

That's the one thing I think a lot of people fail to realize! for every person you here complaining in a forum there's probably ten thousand that are perfectly happy! -
As in using internal mics only, or recorded internally only?
-
The other thing i forgot, is the GH5 doesn't have a low pass filter on the sensor like the GH4, so footage is sharper.
-
I have them both, and in my opinion the Expo-disk is better for setting WB in the camera. It works like a filter, so all you do is hold it over the front of the lens and set custom wb. You don't have to worry about holding it perfectly square to the lens to avoid reflections like with an x-rite. You also don't have to worry about targeting the correct swatch on the x-rite from multiple feet away. For checking/setting wb and color correctness in post an expo-disc is usless, and you need a color checker. If/when you go to buy a color checker, I's recommend you buy the X-Rite i1 Filmmaker Kit. Yea, its more expensive because the iDisplay pro comes with it, but you will eventually want to calibrate your monitor(s) anyway, and you save $50-$60 buying it as a kit. here is a cheesy platylist showing how to use an expo-disc!

I did some snooping (web software developer by day) around the feelworld website during lunch, and found the unpublished product page for the FW279S. It looks to still be a work in progress, as introduction says 450 nits while several other spots on the page say 2200. http://www.feelworld.cn/ShowInfo.aspx?id=598 I also found this company in the Netherlands (i think) that shows it for 499 Euros. https://shop.disnet.nl/5966-Feelworld-Field-Monitoren/153621-Feelworld-7-4K-FW279S-Ultra-Bright-SDI-Monitor.html

Personally, I've found the key to getting good results from lower bit depth / chroma sub sampling cameras, is ETTR, and getting WB spot on in camera. ETTR is cake with zebras, and an expo disc makes setting wb all but idiot proof!

Try a Panasonic G7 4k 8bit 4:2:0 It's an excellent small light camera, and its on sale for just under $500 at B&H right now. this is a short test clip i shot right after i got the camera.

Atomos Ninja V modules - Now All Your Stills Cameras Have Timecode!
Dan Sherman replied to IronFilm's topic in Cameras
you will need to explain this, because I can't see how you wouldn't need and external recorder if you're feeding audio timecode into the camera. -
I think not, because they haven't actually delivered a 1000 nit monitor at any price.

Tenticle syncs are cheaper, roughly $220 per camera, but only work if you're using an external audio recorder. -
Man, Feelworld really needs to get their marketing together. The just posted some photos from their IBC booth. The F567 is really the FW567, and while it is OLED its only 1280x720, and it's 300 nits, not the 1000 like in the teaser video. Unless someone it trying to play the average brightness vs single pixel peak brightness game. The FW279 is really the FW279s, but it's at-least 2200 nits like the video claimed. Still no mention of what video has lut support yet!

I've never heard of FreeTail before, any idea who actually makes the memory/cards? I haven't used Angelbird cards, as they are a fairly new brand, but i have heard some good things about them, and they are carried by some of the major retailers. 64gb V60 x2 $97 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1422508-REG/angelbird_avp064sdv60x2_64gb_av_pro_uhs_ii.html 128gb V60 x2 $165 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1422510-REG/angelbird_avp128sdv60x2_128gb_av_pro_uhs_ii.html 256gb V60 x2 $375 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1391863-REG/angelbird_avp256sdv60x2_avpro_sd_256gb_v60.html 512gb V60 x2 $795 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1422517-REG/angelbird_avp512sdv60x2_512gb_av_pro_uhs_ii.html 64gb V90 x2 $195 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1384211-REG/angelbird_avp064sdx2_avpro_sd_64gb.html 128gb V90 x2 $390 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1384212-REG/angelbird_avp128sdx2_avpro_sd_128gb.html 256gb V90 x2 $795 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1422512-REG/angelbird_avp256sdx2_256gb_av_pro_uhs_ii.html
