Up until very recently I've been a bit of an App-phobe preferring to do all of my work on my iMac. However, after dealing with the disappointing performance of my iPhone 8Plus's internal mics for making impromptu videos and audio clips I invested in a Shure MV-88 M/S Mic this past winter and was pleasantly surprised with not only the mic's performance (for in-phone movie audio, grabbing bird calls, Foley work, etc.), but also with using the Shure Motiv Audio and Video apps. Based on that favorable experience I was amenable to see what more the "world of apps" might offer for my needs and interests. So, after running into online tutorials and testimonials and forum posts for LumaFusion (like BTM_Pix's link above) I decided to do some further homework on that app and see if it might be "for real" and whether it might just offer me some mobile help with my backlog of UHD/HD (FZ1000, a7S II, a6300) nature/wildlife footage. As a result I decided to be bold and I just picked up a closeout 2nd Gen 12.9" iPad Pro 512GB WiFi (B&H @ $749!) for the sole purpose of giving LumaFusion a go. I'm quite literally at the "opening the app for the first time and getting familiar with the layout" stage so I have no feedback to offer at this point. But, what truly gave me the inspiration to "go bold" here was after hearing this podcast interview with Serenity Caldwell about her iPad review (starts at 11:21) and listening to her usage of numerous apps to create the montage of various forms of media content within the video... It's been a bit rough on my end finding some early-adopter video test samples (Read: ISO sequences, rolling shutter, etc.). I'm guessing that most folks, like myself, who are interested in the video performance of the S-Series cameras are waiting until July for the full FW package before making a purchase decision? I'm not sure if the following sequence adds anything to the "organic-looking" dialog here but it does shed some light on the rolling shutter performance for a slow pan in the opening shot and for whip-pans at around the 0:28 mark... Well, a V-Log FW update for the G9 would be nice...kind of sad to see it being available in the less-than-flagship G model and not the flagship, itself. :)

It's not looking like Sony sensor tech on the S1R ... ...as seen in this screenshot from Adorama's "Panasonic S1 and S1R Live Overview!" with Panasonic's Matt Frazer which was broadcast live on FB back on March 6... Panasonic S1 and S1R Live Overview!: ...though he doesn't mention whether the S1 sensor shares the same technology shown. Sony needs to abandon the toy-sized bodies of the current a6300/6500 lineup and deliver a robustly-built body capable of handling the needs of sports/wildlife shooters. They sorely need a proper light-shielding eyeguard, ergonomically placed buttons and wheels that require a definitive pressing to activate to avoid the current nightmare of mushy buttons and wheels that change camera settings merely by handling the camera, and, finally, enable Dual-IS to work with 3rd-party lenses. And, since they served up a severe case of burn-a** to their customers with the quick release of the 6500 after the 6300 I will never give them the opportunity to screw me over again for early adoption, beta-testing on my dime...this new camera will sit on the market a full year before I even consider a purchase. :)

Shooting the G9 with their 100-400mm has revolutionized my outdoor nature wildlife shooting. I can now take with me the equivalent of my Canon or Sony croppers and my Sigma 300-800mm with large carbon fiber tripod and gimbal head all in a handheld package with Dual-IS, making my trekking more weight-manageable and allowing me to travel more stealthily and being ready to shoot in a moments notice. The missing "killer app" here is putting a Super35 CMOS sensor into the Panny M43 mount bodies like BM and JVC have already. Send me a prototype to field test and check out Panny folks! :)

Hi Franklin, Having never shot with the FS5 I can't speak directly to the color matching SOOC, but I've got to imagine that getting things to play well together in post shouldn't be a major problem. Regarding the EVF on the 6500, I find the eyeguard is too shallow and if one is shooting with the sun off to their right the intrusion of sunlight makes the screen impossible to see. Also, I can only recommend 6300/6500 for tripod work as the bodies are too small for field work IMHO and in my usage (handheld) the pad of my palm invariably presses the rear wheel and/or rear buttons causing unintended (and extremely annoying) settings changes mid-shoot. YMMV. Hopefully the rumored "new high-end APS-C" from Sony will address the EVF and handling issues, these problems have me auditioning the Panasonic G9 which is an ergonomic dream to shoot with handheld and the Dual IS is the real deal. Methinks a reworking of the Panasonic lineup to FF sensors too costly and, therefore, unlikely from Panasonic. Better sense would be to incorporate a larger Super35 sensor into their lineup utilizing the existing Micro 4/3 mount (ala GY-LS300). Users would still benefit from the existing lighter and smaller lenses the system affords (which makes the system more alluring than having to invest in expensive and large FF glass) while gaining the benefits of a larger sensor. A multi-aspect ratio sensor making best sense here. All, IMHO. As for September 25th announcement? My hopes would be for a G9S using the GH5S sensor, this time with IBIS and sensor cooling with GH5S' 14-bit via HDMI-out with all the G9 photo-shooting goodness. :)
