  1. You do realise you are comparing a camera that hasn't come out yet to a camera that does not even exist lol. Absurd as your comment is, one thing we do know for sure is that the footage coming from the a7siii is average. That is not something many would say about the recent komodo footage and the canon cine line in general.
  2. Ok so a lot wrong with this. Like I said above the RF mount enables a focal reducer so people can use their EF glass to get a FF look. This is a completely different camera to c200 in form factor, codec and frame rate (i.e. in nearly every conceivable way). This will compete against the a7sii because of form factor, battery life, internal nd, audio ports, ergonomics, frame rates will likely be useable in all conditions and without heat limits. Both will have FF look. a7siii will have ibis and photo capabilities (which are not pro). For c500 and c300 users this is perfect B camera because you will still be able to use the SAME lenses - EF glass. People with a c300 and c500 do not want to have to carry ef and rf glass. So your statement is quite misguided and not very well thought out. This is the B camera most people have been asking for who shoot video. We don't want a photo style camera with its clear limitations. If they can keep it small, with the rumored specs, and there is no heat issues, it will be a big winner.
  3. Because they will make a focal reducer for it to be used with EF glass, which is what everyone has. It is the best of both worlds, where you get FF look and the small size and frame rate capabilities of a super-35 sensor. The benefits here are that the form factor should allow continuous recording in all frame rates and all conditions unlike the a7siii. Plus the advantages of internal nd, battery life and audio ports. I doubt it will have ibis if they are advertising it in their cinema line. I know it is controversial but there is clearly a lot of resistance to ibis in the cinema lines of most brands. For people like me who don't shoot photos, I am just glad they are steering away from the hybrid form factor of the a7siii.
  4. you gonna call everyone a canon fanboy? I just said the camera is worse than garbage and gerald went soft on them. I like how suddenly he is the most respected of them all lol. You are becoming quite an annoyance on here.
  5. GS gives you locked off shots if you are steady, but even if there is motion it is much more organic and pleasing - yes the motion is like film. Ibis is unpredictable and you cannot rely on it for sure 100%. I know with my GS camera, the way the image looks when moved craps all over anything with ibis. It is pleasing and smooth whether i pan, walk, etc.
  6. it is a fake comparison of luts. the roll-off is applied in camera for the red. pure speculation on DR but global shutter has problems for DR so we will see. I am sure the Red will look nicer but it is also x5 more expensive if you add on all the accessories you need. Still we wait to see someone independent doing a proper test though to find out true flaws.
  7. People get easily wowed when someone has a command over numbers. You can't do a proper review in bite sized pieces. For example he says ibis is bad and then shows one small clip. Here is a full range of tests which shows exact opposite. Gerald said that he thinks color on a7siii is comparable to Arri Alexa. I will let people decide what that means and what to believe. Edit: if I am reviewing these cameras, I am trashing the absolute hell out of them - not just saying bad marketing.
  8. the non-hq mode is softer than even the eos r which is already soft to begin with. it is really not the best. but if you are just uploading vids to youtube then no one will notice unless it is camera nerds pixel-peeping. People will notice the ibis, color and autofocus more than sharpness. So maybe it is passable for low quality content online. the problem is you have to pay $4500!!! for that privilege. Helll noooooo!!!! But if you are rich or whatever and dont care about pure image quality then the other perks of the camera would make it a joy to use over the other offerings. The ibis on this camera is insane even for m43 standards. So i see rich people buying this camera (who don't know or care about the quality difference in video i.e. non-pros), while videographers purchase the a7siii and s1h. Meanwhile, the r6 is just an abortion. I don't know who would pay that much to buy something that can't even shoot in 4k these days.
  9. More overheating 24p outdoors in sun.
  10. If only Gerald had put this much effort into testing the as7iii instead of waste his time on a camera that is not fit for purpose.
  11. You should tell that to Gerald who apparently got x3 a7siii instead of a c300 mkiii. I understand that as a youtuber he is outlier though.
  12. Must have been tough for you 7 years ago lol. The other cameras aren't for you then. You need a camera that does a job. That's fine too. Im sure the sony will be great for that. Just let's not delude ourselves here into thinking the sony creates anything but a generic and boring image that will be seen all over youtube. That is fine for most who do not care about cinematography or art. Sharp 120p is more important for your purposes.
  13. Bmpcc 6k is the best bang for your buck. Cinematography is an art. The Blackmagic makes the most beautiful image and gives life and art to the image. If I were a painter, the 6k would be the brightest colour on my palette. The others are garish and utilitarian. Ibis, autofocus should not be considerations unless you have a job to do. But they have nothing to do with the art of cinematography, which has never needed these things and which is detrimental in most cases. So it is illogical for two people to argue over which camera is better when their objectives are different. A painter will go through the most trouble to get a unique and beautiful image. He will not pick a tool which allows him to make a pretty picture with the least effort but one that looks identical to others. If your aspirations are high then that is what you should aim for. If not then that is fine too but let us not delude ourselves.
  14. The last people I would ask is the company. You won't get any information from them. The people on the ground know what's happening. The devil is in the detail. They want to have plausible deniability when the inevitable recall is made, which should happen soon. Andrew is doing them a BIG favour here and it will be a cathartic moment where they can clean out house hopefully and restructure along the lines of Andrews article. Like he said, all is not lost. No one is buying cameras now. They can afford to recall and still put something decent out by next year.
  15. He is talking about 10 bit 422 4k 24p Long GOP. Even the r5 lets you shoot some kind of 4k 24p without overheating.
  16. Its fine. I'm saying we need to be civil here. No one or brand should be immune from criticism. You are entitled to defend them but there is a way of going about that where you don't upset others and where we can have a proper discussion. We shouldn't reduce ourselves to the comments section of a rumors website.
  17. Yes but who is the worse beast: canon who told everyone from day one the camera had bad overheating issues (as documented here on EOSHD) or Sony who said you can record without overheating and are supported by the youtube hype machine?
  18. Of course I am being faceitious; I only mentioned Gerald cause he was one that went in hard against the canon and then had nothing to say about the a7siii. Now we are in the same situation we can see how ridiculous these youtube reviews are.
  19. There is one person on here that is new that has caused nothing but discord, and that person should examine their own behavior before throwing any stones. Btw two people have now said that the sony overheated.
  20. Can we ask for a recall for the as7iii as well now? Or is the hysteria only reserved for canon because Gerald said so?
  21. The Hugh Brownstone where he says the camera overheated and wouldn't recommend for pro work over the gh5. He had cine glass on it as well for one shot, so no autofocus, and presumably turned off ibis.
  22. Fuji just need to come out with that xh2 and just destroy everyone with nice ergonomics and better heat management in a larger body with pro features. No DCI and overheating still makes most of these cameras unfit for professional use, except for the panasonics, which appear to cater for the pro market more. Hope the xh2 comes out soon.
  23. https://www.newsshooter.com/2020/07/31/canon-eos-r5-r6-recall-rumors-are-not-true/ Rumors are not true apparently. I remember last time company had to deny something like this - Olympus anyone? te he he.
  24. https://petapixel.com/2020/07/30/canon-is-delaying-eos-r5-shipments-due-to-overheating-concerns-report/ PetaPixel picked it up. Others agreeing as well. All signs point to recall. Imagine they fix the overheating and suddenly a deluge of a7siii on the market lol.
  25. That overheats too but. Not as bad but still it there.
