Footage: Komodo at it's lowest compression vs Helium, no colorgrading. I haven't seen any Komodo footage I really like yet, would need the R3D's to see. So far not dying for it which is a disappointment. It doesn't look all that "cinematic" vs full blown cinema cameras. When the skate footage was posted, many people said it just looked like Sony mirrorless footage. Unaltered, the highlight roll off looks way behind the helium, it also from these clips looks way more magenta out of the box vs normal reds or an Alexa (dont see many cinema cameras heavy on magenta).

I have had some issues in Resolve with RAW files, I tried all the obvious things like making sure CUDA is enabled and force enabling GPU for decoding etc. None of that really did too much, then I did the clunky smart rendering stuff and manually optimizing the clips, which worked, but it redundantly made me lose tons of SSD space to do it. The solution I found: I just turned off the smart or selected rendering, did not optimize clips. Made a new project, threw clips into its native res timeline and turned on fusion memory cache. Then I would just hit play on the timeline, it would still be lower fps, but after it went through it once, it plays back smoothly every time, even with heavy color grading etc. I found that this is the only way I can get my computer to actually start utilizing more of my CPU/GPU power in Resolve for some reason. I don't know why this works, but it does for me, give it a go.

They said on the red forums that it was all designed in house, but they will use someone else's "oven"
-
I am curious as to what kind of dynamic range it will have. I'm sure they will exaggerate the DR like all REDs do, but I expect it to be a little better than the pocket 6k
-
The imaginary a7siii will never be an A cam for anything important. Crash cam at best, but even then, a serious production would use something like the komodo.

Canon EOS R first impressions - INSANE split personality camera

Looks like he has been trying to copy Kolder lol -
Most likely an 8 year old that likes cinema
-
You think I should orbit my choice of phone around dji? You're sounding like lebron
-
Lets see how much you love them when they won't add support for your phone (major flagship) and your drone is fucking useless for a year. They force you to buy their expensive screen controller. Fuck dji
-
F dji, they raised prices on year old products & STILL haven't updated their app so galaxy S10 owners can fly their drones. It will be a year soon & you cant fly without it crashing your phone so hard it restarts. It's not like they dont know, there are hundreds of threads on their website about it & they respond to them with bull crap answers like: "we hope to include that in the future, thanks", "I'll pass this on to our development team". They had updated for the S8 & S9 fast.

Did everyone already forget the massive amount of focus breathing in the RF primes? I've confirmed the zooms are good, but I'm a prime guy. If everything goes RF in the next few years, it will be another 6-12 years before you see a remake of the RF primes & they might have focus breathing bad too ?

Canon EOS R first impressions - INSANE split personality camera

eos r has now dropped $500 off its launch price in 1 year lol -
I was worried about that, but I did lots of rapid shots (outdoor sports) and never had a drop of oil. I seriously cannot think of anything that I didn't like about that camera, aside from its size/weight and attention it drew in public.
-
I can't I just bought a $6000 short throw laser projector for my bedroom lol
-
AF looks about as useful as the GH5's
-
It's basically an action cam for them, but designed for 23.976 movies (sorry hobbit). That sigma fp also can't do 50/60p in its highest res (4k), so i'll take a hard pass on both of these. Then the pocket 6k gives a great image, but has many shortfalls I don't care to work around. Sadly, the 1DX III looks to be the best cam for me, but I probably won't buy it.
-
Their RF 70-200 2.8 weighs a pound less than the EF version
-
komodo will only be 24-30p according to jarred
-
Extremely well, never remotely came close to overheating. I couldn't even feel the Mark II heat up
-
It does look good, but the lack of 50/60p in 4K kills it for me. I've found that you can shoot handheld in 60p with 4k/6k res & stabilize it extremely well in post. Looks better than any ibis I've tried. I recognized & teased back. I wasnt worried haha.
-
You did a good job! It is however different than a budgeted professional shoot (commercial/movie).
-
Let's see your pro content, I'm 100% sure it looks amateur. The Canon DPAF has been proven in professional settings & can be relied on if you do not have a focus puller (budget). No pro focus puller could even compete with this in it's intended environments. This isnt an A cam for a big budget film & neither is your panasonic/bm or whatever amateur toy you own. I've seen these 1D bodies get dropped in lakes, fished out & still work. Dropped out of moving vehicles etc. Still fine. It is a professional camera and wasn't built from the ground up as a cinema camera.

It actually has usable AF ?

Sent that piece of crap back. Wonder when i'll get banned from BH and Adorama. I've never seen quality vary so much in a Canon product, even the G7x, powershots etc haven't had this lack of QC. I never checked the camera, made in China?
