Hold your horses, there is no point in buying a new taking lens if you are not sure which element of the equation is responsible for the abovementioned issue. Just like Julien said, set your Cinelux to infinity (I highly recommend doing this outside) or slightly closer and then, slowly, focus your Nikkor. Don't pay attention to focus distance marks, just look for the sharpest image possible. But, to be honest, I'm not really sure why are you so keen on achieving the infinity focus if you don't plan on getting a single focus solution soon. Does any of your shots require this? PS: There are some cheaper solutions, like FVD-16A (550$), which is one of the best on the market, or some Russian focusers going for around 300$.

Most likely making your interviewee look good will be your top priority, so some sort of diffusion is a must (be it a Light Dome from aperture or some generic soft/octaboxes - both will do). Adding a grid to the abovementioned softbox, so that you can control its spill, is also a good idea. I'd say that a fresnel is a more specialized tool and probably you wouldn't use it that much, especially during interviews.

At first I thought that this topic was some sort impolite commentary on Andrew's news on getting another camera, but then I checked the timestamps.. ( :

Searching for Tamron 17-35/2.8-4 proved unsuccessful, so I settled for some middle ground and got myself a Sigma 17-35/2.8-4 for 90$. Feels like at least ten times more solid than the old Vivitar, though it's still plastic and quite lightweight. Gonna put it to use in the next couple of days, wish me luck!

What excuses do we make up that prevent us from creating stuff?

After seeing this little video and its BTS, I can no longer see any obstacles that one couldn't overcome. https://v.redd.it/8bn7vdpjkqh41 He did it by himself, in his apartment, with little to no gear. -
Well, most of the contemporary content creators actually do that. I'm not a big fan of using my phone to take photos / make videos, only because it's not ergonomic and I can't rely on it as much, as I can on my camera. Image quality is totally acceptable. Truth be told, I'm constantly amazed at what these little sensors and chipsets are capable of.

It's 52.6 mm, at least in my copy. 1st Gen Ultra Star, looking like this: Most likely later generations share the same dimensions.

That's the point I was making a while ago! Why should we bother with 8K, etc. if 90% of viewers will watch our work on their phones / tablets? 1080p is still king.

Thank you! Nah, it was shot on Sony NEX-5 (bare "5", no N / R / T). The Citadel Park was my entry for EOSHD $200 challenge.

Nah, I'm just waiting for him to make a move. Could be days, could be weeks..

I've had a chance to shoot some videos with a6000 and I was happy with its video quality, especially when I managed to nail white-balance. It had some quirks that were quite irritating (very reflective LCD screen, no mic input, weak heat management), though almost every Sony camera has them. Here is a video I shot with it in 2017: It was mostly shot in 1080p60 with shutter set to 1/80 and Portrait (-3, 0, -3). a7S still impresses me, too. These shorts aged well, IMHO:

I'm in the market for some key light, as well! (Maybe we should continue our discussion in: Key Light Less Expensive Than Aputure so that we don't hijack this thread here) Re: Godox and their quality - I know that Orie McGiness (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH7DEV5Ys50) has had a chance to work with both Godox SL-150 and a pair of Godox SL-60 simultaneously. He seems like a really nice guy, I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask him about it in the comments. Re: Sokani - Gerald Undone mentions that it's loud, but, unfortunately, he doesn't provide any objective information like he did in a video about Godox SL-60. He says that both these lights suffer from noisy fans, though. Scott Dumas tried powering the Sokani via V-Mount battery and D-Tap to DC adapter and, supposedly, it works without any issues, so there's hope one could use X-60 on some outside shoots. There is one more light that caught my attention - Jinbei EF-II 60. Looks like a slightly altered Godox SL-60 that features a slot for two Sony NP-F batteries and it's allegedly a bit brighter than Godox. Unluckily, there is almost no info, no reviews about it, so you're buying a pig in a poke. @Amazeballs happens to be the only person I know that owns it and he's quite happy with it, isn't that right?
-
Yeah, his anamorphic clamps and adapters are top-notch. We'd need to provide him with some details, though. Like I said, my friend and I are on it, but it'll take some time, since he's a busy person.
-
Umm, is it a circular filter or a square one? We need some more info to help you.

Like I said, making a MFT - X Mount adapter seems possible, but don't count on any electronics in it - the adapter will be dumb as a doorknob.

They are not as bad as they seem. A friend of mine bought a similar set (this one exactly) and shared some photos taken with them. It's not a bad idea. Keep us updated. ( : You're welcome.
-
Well, I could try to dare one of my friends to do it.. No promises he gets it done, though. EDIT:// MFT -> Fuji X seems doable, whereas Sony E -> Fuji X would require a whole lot of magic to produce. The flange distance difference between these two mounts is only 0.3 mm..

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=telephoto+Lens+hood+58mm&LH_PrefLoc=2&_sop=12 By macro lenses you mean diopters, right? You don't need any fancy step-down ring, any will do. Most of my rings come from RISE (UK). But your ISCO has no threads in front, how are you going to attach the step-down ring? RE: lifting plate - there is nothing you could buy to fix it. To make it work exactly like you want to, you'll need to make it DIY style.
-
@androidlad mentioned that SOME of the recording options will make its way to X-T3 via future firmware updates. As for now, there is no info which of these we can expect.
-
Mine too, welcome to the club. ( : Still, if you ever wanted to mount the lens collar, you can place it just a bit closer to the front. Yeah, I feel you; every one of us would.. It won't be that heavy, unless you add a variable diopter in front, NONETHELESS: your taking lens may take some strain, especially its filter thread, not to mention the camera's lens mount. I'd say that all those bigger scopes like ISCOs, Cineluxes, Sankors need some kind of a lens support. Maybe it's just me being on the safe side of things..
-
If you plan on building a solid rig based on 15 mm rods, then I highly recommend getting some baseplate / clamp (like this) and a lens collar. Attach the lens collar to the clamp, slide ISCO inside and secure it (a layer of tape may be necessary to add some grip). You'll have something like this: I can confirm that lens collars made for SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 II EX DG MACRO HSM fit ISCO almost perfectly.

@Emanuel has already posted this leaked specs sheet: 8K in a smartphone is not that far away.. BTW, back in the good old days anything that had ~7" screen was a tablet, but now it's a freaking Ultra phone? How am I supposed to handle it? Which pockets does it fit into? Gimme back my 4" iPhone 5S.. I miss small phones.

Sure, it's all right! Be sure to post the finished result here. ( :
