https://www.sonyalpharumors.com/viltrox-announced-one-new-autofocus-and-two-manual-lenses-for-sony-full-frame-e-mount-cameras/ Yet another 85s for Sony E.. How many of them do we already have? 85FE, Batis 85, 85/1.4 GM, Sigma 85/1.4.. Still no single 35/1.8. What's more, why are the Viltroxes so heavy? The 85/1.8 STM is almost twice as heavy as Sony FE 85. 20/1.8 looks quite nice, though, but it's still a beast. ~780g, whereas Tokina Firin 20/2 - 470g, Samyang 20/1.8 - 490g + adapter.

I am at Photokina. What would you like me to ask?

Andrew, is there any chance you could play with newly announced Viltrox lenses? 85/1.8 with STM AF for Sony E and Fuji X for 240$ 20/1.8 MF for Sony E for 280$ https://www.optyczne.pl/12917-news-Nowe_obiektywy_Viltrox_dla_Fujifilm_X_i_Sony_FE.html -
Meanwhile Sony promises 12 more E-Mount lenses soon.

25-250 T2.9? Are you sure? Heard about 25-100 T2.9 in a PL mount, but nothing about 25-250..
-
And here I am waiting for the soon-to-be-released EOSHD v4 Pro LOG.. ( : Good for you, Andrew. Can't wait for some sample footage.
-
That's completely true. Ah, forgot about this little fella. My bad.
-
Well, Sony released only two compact and affordable lenses: 50/1.8 and 85/1.8 That's it, nothing more. The newest 24/1.4 GM may seem not that expensive (compared to the other GMs), but it can't be called a basic, affordable lens.
-
And it is not that expensive. 1400$

A couple of random shots. EOSHD Pro Color HDR, some simple Shadows / Highlights adjustments in Resolve + a couple of SFX to soften the image a bit. Samyang 35/2.8 FE and Sony 50/1.8 FE (the red shot). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xjz32-I9wYs

I'm using Tamron 28-75/2.8 SP AF from early 2000s, Canon EF mount. Got it for 190$. Paired with MC-11 Auto focus works and is definitely very usable, both at wide and long end. Even Face Detection and Eye-AF do work, but they aren't as snappy as with native lenses. The lens is very sharp, even wide open. Has some flare issues, but to me it's a feature. ( :

Hahaha, I see. Can't help you then, I'm not a LUT guy, to be honest. Though I've heard some people praising lutify.me - maybe you could check them out. -

Love the results! Really punchy, saturated and full of energy. What look are you aiming for? For me, this looks good as it is. -
Bumped into this today while browsing vimeo.

Everything should be all right, but remember to use LUTs designed for Rec709. And, please, don't overdo it. LUTs are meant to slightly alter the colors/contrast and to make it more pleasing / fitting. Michael Bay does it wrong. -
My rodent became quite popular here, I bet he'd enjoy this kind of attention. ? @BTM_Pix now, that's quite a performer you have, wow. Thank you for the photo, really appreciate it. May I ask which mount is it? I read somewhere that first batches for Canon and Sony A were supposed to be faulty.

That's totally true. No point in buying f/1.4 lens, which is unusable at f/1.4 That'd be a great option, but true cine lenses are out of my league. I picked this Cine Rokinon only because it cost the same as non-cine version, which was ~330$ I bought it mainly to use it for astrophotography. It's really praised here: https://www.lonelyspeck.com/rokinon-24mm-f1-4-ed-as-umc-review/ The reviewer even states that he had no hestitation to use it wide open which is not true in my case. Believe me, the rodent (hamster to be precise ? ) could not be more in focus. Its whiskers are well defined but the glowing destroys overall sharpness.

A lot of people say that there is a big copy variation due to Samyang's really poor quality control. I'm going to exchange it for another one and then I'll see if it's worth keeping.
-
If anyone is looking for a lens with built-in Black Pro Mist filter, then I'd highly recommend Samyang/Rokinon 24mm T1.5 Wide open this thing glows like a Super Moon.

@Geoff CB I really dig the colors. Was it shot using the EOSHD v4 or your GFILM?
-
I didn't even know that these existed, lol.
-
@kye - I really dig all the work and explanation you put into it. I, too tried to mimic the Pro Mist's effect, but took a different approach and relied mostly on Resolve's Glow effect. Here are my results: Black Pro Mist 1/8 - https://imgur.com/a/Hz1lRPe Black Pro Mist 1/4 - https://imgur.com/a/z36OnC5 What really bugs me is the fact that really hot colors will glow, as well, since everything is based on thresholds.. https://imgur.com/a/x9gN59x

I'll save you searching: Tiffen allowed downloading this file so it's super easy to just grab it, put into Resolve and start tweaking. ( : Would love to hear your results.

It's worth noting that it was shot with 1/4 Black Pro Mist and that's why these highlights are so nicely diffused.
