all of the latest Sony bodies have significantly better looking skin, not just the Venice. (RX100mk6 and Mk7, FS5mkii, A7iii, Riii - R4, RXOmkii etc)
-
Good to see they are finally adding the A9 autofocus. They will have the best/most versatile autofocus for cinema/ILC video cameras
-
Cinema 5D - Interesting as it comes in EF and not RF.... First Canon C series that isn't ugly looking imo. Could be a hit for the netflix market.

Sony has an E mount announcement at IBC in 2 weeks, and apparently the A9ii is getting announced sometime in October. With the last announcement being APSC what else is left?

Saving grace will be IBC 2019 in 2 weeks

Good to have both a laptop and a desktop for heavier/longer projects

Im planning on doing a laptop soon, mostly looking at the Lenovo P53 and the Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen 2 around the $2000 price point.

Canon removing 24p from new 4K mirrorless cameras - THE MEMES
Mako Sports replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Yup, if you noticed when the specs were first dropped on here, just about all of the Canon shooters on here said they don't even shoot 24fps. Canon only makes cameras for Canon shooters. -
Panasonic S1H review / hands-on - a true 6K full frame cinema camera
Mako Sports replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
True, it isn't 2012 anymore where your only options were a Canon 5dmkii/T3i or the original BM Cinema Camera. -
Its interesting because I have a friend that works at a Rental House in LA. He says the Venice has been an absolute hit, where the old F55/F65 never took off in the hollywood market. The new color and filmic look seems to be the reason why. Ofc nowhere near as popular as the Alexa Mini which is by far the most popular in Hollywood. But baby steps I guess.. Id like to see some Venice things trickle down.

Sony wont innovate because of the FS7 and F5 which both are great and industry workhorses, however are due for an update. So everyone beneath the FS7 will continue to suffer. I believe in 12 or 13 days the a7sii will officially be 4 years old so there may be an announcement at IBC in 2 weeks. At this point Canon doesn't care about the lower end/consumer video market.

Having some fun with 2 old cameras... When i'm in the offseason (I shoot sports) I like to shoot random things around the house and practice shooting, lighting, and sometimes grading to keep my skills in check. I spent half an hour shooting this and around an hour and a half editing to make this little 50 second edit. Anyone else do this regularly as well? If so post a video. Video Notes: Shot in 4K 24fps: Cine 2 - Cinema Color Space Exposed bright white to 80 IRE. Camera and lens were lit with 2 led panels at separate color temperatures. (Cold key and warm fill) Used a vintage Olympus 50mm F1.8 with a SmallHD 701 for framing, focus, and Waveform monitor for exposure. Corrected and Graded in Davinci Resolve 16.1 Studio (Beta) with a double node Lut workflow. Last but not least, the shots of the A6300 were done with the FS5 in the same color profile. All 8bit 4.2.0 ofc

the new 2.8 zoom doesn't have OSS, which is a big miss imo

https://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr5-leaked-images-and-specs-of-thenew-sony-a6100-and-a6600-and-lenses/#disqus_thread Quality of life updates for the A6000 and A6500 - Overall pretty underwhelming, however the lenses seem interesting. I may swap my A6300 for the A6600... But i'll prob just wait another 3 weeks for IBC. (A7sii was released at IBC in 2015) who woulda thought Sony would drop a 35 1.8 for FF and a 16 - 55 2.8 APSC In the same year ?

Panasonic S1H review / hands-on - a true 6K full frame cinema camera

Actually I think cinema camera systems are dust resistant as the fans help keep the inside clean, Sony says the fs7 is also splash and dust resistant.
