Had a big gig last Sunday, first time using the 100 - 400 G master. Focus ring was surprisingly not aids. All FS5 @ 240fps in 1080p. Hoping the A7SX gets 240fps in 10 bit like the fs5

At the end of the day the best lenses in the world are manual focus only which is kinda funny. I shoot sports which is probably the hardest in regards to manually focusing but I feel more in tune with the edit, can't describe it vs just sitting back letting the camera do most of the focus work. Some of my shots are slightly out of focus but my viewers/clients don't seem to care. MF is simply a skill that has to be practiced. I try to make an effort outside of gigs to go out and practice pulling focus manually. Letting my dog run around the backyard and tracking her is good practice I've found.

@baker21 I bought my fs5 from a friend for only $2k. At first I didn't like it but it started to grow on me. The heavier body is better for handheld work, the grip is awesome, SDI, xlr inputs with great pre amps and the varible ND filter makes life easier. I only shoot sports and have come to love the end trigger/end trigger half function, when I come home from a shoot, i'm only culling the highlights I recorded. No excess clips which saves hours in the editing process. I'm hoping the next FX6/FX3? has better low light performance and autofocus. 99% of the time I'd rather use a video camera than a photo style body like my A7iii for video.

You need to add a counter weight then.

Doug J did a master class on it. Highly reccomend his masterclasses, I bought 1 for the Sony z90 and. The FS5 one, both were really helpful.

Yeah tbh "cinema" cameras are kinda cancer for run and gun doc work unless you have a crew of 3 or more. FS7 and C300mkii are the real top dogs for doc work. Can't beat built in NDs and XLR inputs if your a small to no man crew

Despite them having a really nice image from what I've heard Ursa's aren't nearly as reliable/durable as other picks like alexa for cinema use and Sony F5/F55 for high end doc/TV etc.

Which is totally fine, at the end of the color is a subjective choice. If Red wanted their footage to look just like Arri they would have done it by now.

If this new "king shit" r5 has legit 8k without crazy crippling and stills performance that rivals the A7r4/low end digital medium format - $10,000 doesn't seem insane. $5000 or $6000 seems more reasonable.

There isn't enough space veritcally. Unless companies removed the EVF, Even the 1DX line has no space for it.

Doesn't it do CDNG Raw internal, that's probably why.

Facts I have both an FS5 and A7iii, even though I believe the A7iii makes better looking video, the FS5 while having really bad lowlight performance and autofocus it is easier to use for video due to the ergos + SDI + variable ND+ SDI. I'm more interested in seeing what the FX6 has in store over the A7siii.

Probably going to keep the FS5 as its been growing on me. Maybe swap my A7iii for the A7siii if it has a higher frame rate (180/240fps), A9 video AF, and 10 bit recording.

once D resolve supports 32 bit float ima look into a MIx Pre 3mkii or the Zoom F6

Nobody ever regretted upping their audio quality for video.
