I believe so because with shooting log you are try to protect the shadows. Exactly why log is almost never recommended for low light situations. In regards to your a6500, shooting log is a LOT easier with an external monitor because you get access to a waveform monitor.

Only solution is to upload it to vimeo because the compression isnt as hard.

I want SWIT to make a 502 Bright competitor. Similar to the S-1053F with a pro build quality, Full metal, SDI and HDMI, and still being 1000 nits but cheaper than the $1300 Smallhd 502 bright.

Yeah I sort of treat it like S16 camera, Ive used Slog 2 and 3 with it few times for when I need the most possible ddynamic range. but i'm just personally not a big fan of shooting Log. However it also has Cine 1 - 4, and HLG 1,2, and 3. I really like Cine 2 for neutral lighting, Cine 4 for lowlight, and Cine 1 - HLG 3 for high dynamic range situations.

I have the Sony PXW Z90, bigger brother to the NX80 and AX700. Its pretty good if you want built in ND's, pro audio inputs and full customization over picture profiles. Also I much prefer camcorder ergonomics to ANY mirrorless or dslr, just feels right in the hand.

You can't justify the 85mm F1.8 FE??? ?? That lens is absolutely insane for the price. Its unbelievably sharp, fast, lightweight, and affordable. Sony E mount doesn't have a lot of affordable native AF glass like how MFT and Canon has. I always say in my Photography Discord Server "If your on a shoestring budget Sony E mount is simply not for you".

I did a test with the A7ii a little while ago, I though it was average. I would pick an A6500 over it for the 4K image quality is so much better than the a7ii's 1080p (its really soft similar to Canon Dslrs).

I wish they add more stuff like a real denoiser similar to black magics, I have Magic Bullet denoiser iii and it would have been nice to not have to pay $200 for that. Also things like plural eyes and an anti flicker that actually works like "flicker free".

Yeah either XF705 or the Sony Z280 for a fixed lens camera, they each have their own pros and cons. For a Supa 35 sensor camera with interchangeable lenses - Sony FS7 and the Panasonic EVA 1 are your only options under $7,500 USD.
