I'm rather simple when it comes to lenses. 70 - 300 G for sports/action 18 - 105 F4 for any other general video 70 - 210 if I am in the mood to manually focus for sports. Both are rather light, autofocus well, and have image stabilization. I prefer to shoot around around F4 - F5.6 for things anyways. I plan on upgrading the 70 - 300 to either the new 200 - 600mm or the 100 - 400mm G master. And to the 24 105 G from the 18 - 105 if I switch to a full frame body.

I agree. I bought an fs5 a few months ago, I love good AF but I dont think I would give up for the internal ND, XLR inputs with amazing pre amps. I usually shoot on a tripod so ibis is negligible for me.

I think they are going to pull a Canon and go for the upsell, FX6 will be what we want in the a7siii
-
maybe it will keep the 10 bit 240fps from the fs5

Can the Sony FS7 pair with the Ninja V (non-RAW)?
Mako Sports replied to Mmmbeats's topic in Cameras
I think for 10 bit on both the fs5 and fs7 you have to go through SDI -

Last part makes me laugh. The people spouting off about the FX9's 6K are clearly the non shooting forum warriors. Its always been downscale to 4k or upscale to 8K when shooting in 6K/delivery.

I have a smallhd 701 that im replacing, looking at the 5inch BM one, Shinobi SDI, Portkeys BM5, and the Smallhd 502 bright. I don't even need a recorder it's just a bonus. However that 5'' 12G seems perfect. Dual batteries, 2500 nits, great UI, Lut preview, metal body, full range of scopes. AND it can record. This might be the one boys.

Sony AF Cinema Glass Signifies A Changing Of The Guard
Mako Sports replied to DBounce's topic in Cameras
People still buy canon CNE primes and zooms. Which are more expensive than the stills lenses. So yes there is a market. -
Sony AF Cinema Glass Signifies A Changing Of The Guard
Mako Sports replied to DBounce's topic in Cameras
I think its to keep people firmly engrained in the Sony ecosystem. There are still a lot of folks running around with FS7 and FS5s with adapted EF glass/CNE lenses. It would be nice if lenses like these brought down the price of lower end cine optics. Like Zeiss CP.2s and CP.3s -
Its gonna be a party in here, dvxuser, r/videography, and r/cinematography if RED looses to Apple in the lawsuit. Fingers crossed they loose the case.

Rules 1. Equipment has to already exist. 2. Add a statement on what you shoot. 3. Why you chose the equipment. I shoot sports highlights at the high school, college, and pro level. Also I occasionally shoot sports documentary's. My dream kit consists of - Body - Sony FX9 - a cheaper alternative than the Arri Amira and F55, and a step above the most popular Super 35 camera on the market (FS7) Lens - Sigma 120 - 300 F2.8 decently long enough zoom for sports with a nice fast aperture. Lens 2 - Sony 200 - 600 F5.6/6.3 For when I need the extra range + autofocus Tripod - Miller DS20 with the Flowtech 75 legs Focus - Zacuto Z drive + Tornado running on a focus gear Peripheral 1 - Zacuto Gratical eye micro EVF Peripheral 2 - Smallhd 503 Ultrabright 5 inch monitor Audio 1 - Sennheiser 8060 shotgun microphone Audio 2 - Lectrosonics L series wireless lav + Sanken Cos 11d mic Adapter - Sigma MC11 Extra - XDCA extension unit so I can run V mount batteries Total - Just over $26,000 Kit - for pictures - https://kit.com/MakoSports/dream-sports-videography-kit I chose this kit because I need good high frame rates, the choice of built in XLRs and ND filters is not negotiable so this eliminates RED and mirrorless camera for me. Broadcast capabilities (SDI, timecode, etc) are a bonus, and I occasionally like to use autofocus. Senny and Lectro make bullet proof pro grade audio equipment. And since camera LCDs and EVFs usually suck - I went with 3rd party options from Smallhd and Zacuto. I have only heard good things about Miller fluid heads and the Sachtler Flowtech system so that choice was easy. I did not include lights because as a sports shooter I hardly ever the chance to light stuff lol.
