I have common sense and common sense dictates that it's highly unlikely that two of his exes conspired to make up lies about him. It's much more probable that they are telling the truth, given they gained nothing but scorn and further abuse by speaking out. In those 22 years people I've considered friends have turned out to be awful human beings. I used to speak daily with a guy named Chuck Williams. Society has moved forward and learned a lot during the last 5 years. I wouldn't count on people being so willing to dismiss the accusations now given what we've learned. So your issue is over how he treated Peter Bloom? Because honestly, fuck Peter Bloom. I believe his accusers, especially after revisiting his statement that every abuse counselor/expert would rip to shreds. Frankly it reflects poorly on the filmmaking community as a, whole that the entire thing was hushed up, that anything referencing the accusations got deleted after Mr. Bloom used his influence, and that it was never re-examined following the #MeToo movement. Frankly, fuck him and his cats.

After watching Max's AF test... The auto focus in full frame is your typical Panasonic AF, but the auto focus in APS-C is actually pretty good. It actually was quicker than the A7 III in some scenarios. It seems to be a processing issue in FF, since it's working harder. The mini HDMI and recording limits though are deal breakers for me.

I highly recommend the 7-14 f2.8. The only complaint I have is you can't put on a filter. But for real estate and landscape it's incredible.

I see a difference between segmentation and crippling. Both can be frustrating, but segmentation can be fine as long as it's not abused. Panasonic has always done a good job, I think, when it comes to segmentation. That 2016-2018 period specifically saw a variety of options, at a bunch of reasonable price points. The G85, which is still a very good camera even today, was fairly priced, and was a great value for the time with excellent features. If you needed more control, etc. you could spend more and get the GH5, but you were still capable of doing maybe 80% of what the GH5 could do with the G85. While some would argue the GH5 was priced too high, especially once the A7iii was released, those features the GH5 had were unmatched at that price point.

I'm in agreement that the GH6 needs to continue leading the way to remain relevant, and one way is through progressive features that Sony and Canon might be able to match, but will be very hesitant to do because of how protective they are of their cinema lines. Making the GH6 into a true M43 powerhouse would likely not affect their full frame and cinema camera plans too much, and might even help by being credible b or c cameras for them. Given the trends though, I don't think releasing a forward thinking and powerful M43 camera would negatively impact those because, simply put, there are going to be people that just won't entertain using a M43 camera no matter the features. Fuck em, I say, and reward those loyal M43 shooters and those that aren't opposed to "downgrading" with something really special and forward thinking. We don't just need higher resolution. Functionality is what's most important. Wanna give us 6K? Fine, but don't just give us a 6K version of the GH6. Woo us like you did with the GH4 and the GH5. Exceed our expectations in the functionality department.

That's kinda what I mean though when I say that most of us don't really see the full benefits of 4K when it comes to regular viewing. I think my viewing distance is a pretty common distance for most people that have TVs in their living rooms and bedrooms. I don't really know anyone that sits, say, 5 feet away from their TV. It's not really practical in most homes, unless you live in a really cramped apartment or something. I'd have to have my sofa (or TV) set up in the middle of my living room to do that!

It's funny because I see very little difference on my 55 inch TV sitting about 10 feet away. Only when I'm within 2 or so feet do I see significant differences, even when factoring in just bit rate. If I'm looking on a monitor up close, I can definitely see a difference, but when I'm doing casual viewing? Not so much.

I don't have it myself but I've heard very good things about the Portkeys monitors, since they can control most cameras (start and stop recording) and can apparently completely control all Z-Cam features and menus on them.

I've heard this before. And I know a lot of channels upload in 4K even if the source footage isn't 4K. But I also have heard more popular channels get better quality transcoding overall, which is to say a file uploaded on a small channel might not look as good as if the same file was uploaded to a larger channel. I'm still of the opinion that most of us don't own TV's that are capable of truly displaying the benefits of 4K, even YouTube's highly compressed 4K, given the size of our TVs. On most things I can't see a ton of difference between 1080p and 4K unless I'm right on top of the TV.

Yeah, it's kinda crazy how little clients care about 4K and bit rate when it comes to event stuff. I'm guessing a big part of it is they aren't really familiar with video, and just want a quick and easy file they can download and share? They also have grown accustomed to YouTube's quality, so it lowers expectations maybe? I know YouTube claims/recommends certain settings for best results but I have never really noticed much difference. I generally just use the YouTube export settings in whatever NLE I'm using, unless I also need to deliver a higher quality version in which I'll just upload that since I have Gigabit internet and so uploading isn't an issue.

A lot of the stuff I do is delivered in 1080p, with maybe 10% in UHD. I also still make DVDs for some clients, but always send a 1080p mp4 via Dropbox or Google Drive. Really I deliver in whatever way the client wants though. A surprising number don't want/expect anything with a high bit rate. I'll often get asked if I can make the file smaller!

They've always been good about using batteries across different bodies. I mean they've been using the same battery since the GH3! It is interesting though!

Looks like they're announcing a new battery with the S5 that will be compatible with the GH5, GH5s and G9. Guessing it might end up being the same battery they'll use for the GH6?

This PDAF talk sounds just like when people would say Canon wouldn't let Sony do the flip out screen. No one knows the truth and it's all speculation. Regardless of what the truth is, all of these companies should probably look into making it so they're not reliant on their competitor for sensors.
