Highly contradictory reviews on EOS R6 overheating limitation
newfoundmass replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
I'd like to hear more from Jordan about his test and how he came to that conclusion, but nothing will top Matti putting the camera in the fridge to make sure it's cold MULTIPLE TIMES and then in the same video telling people afterwards that he doesn't think overheating will be an issue for most people. -
Canon EOS R5 / R6 overheating discussion all in one place
newfoundmass replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
No one is forcing them to release this camera. No one forced them to not have a fan or some other form of active cooling. Those were deliberate choices. They absolutely, 100% intentionally are releasing a camera that they know has serious overheating problems. -

I'm kinda impressed that Canon managed to tout groundbreaking features only to unleash possibly their biggest Canon Cripple Hammer of all time, all at once. 2020 has been tumultuous, to say the least. There's a lot of uncertainty in the world right now, but one thing we can always depend on is Canon is gonna Canon. #Blessed -

Edit: apparently they didn't! Focusing looked weird in the court scene. (wouldn't let me edit the post.) -

Those scenes are exactly why you don't use AF. Woof. -
It'd probably cause the camera to explode.

Blackmagic casually announces 12K URSA Mini Pro Camera

In tech I imagine it's also difficult to show a judge that has a limited understanding of the subject matter why these patents are bullshit. -

2020: the year YouTubers put a camera in the fridge to cool it down, in a review where they recommended the camera. Everything about this year SUCKS! -
It doesn't take much to beat Sony in the IBIS department in general. It's not very good at all.
-
You're not going to see many reviews covering the photo side because it's not going to be used by many photographers. Simply put, the camera isn't made for you apparently.

Canon EOS R5 has serious overheating issues – in both 4K and 8K
newfoundmass replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Matti tested in normal conditions, and after putting the camera IN THE REFRIGERATOR! I don't understand why we can't just get a realistic test. Go test "regular" 4K outside in the hot weather WITHOUT putting it in the fridge first, please. Like seriously, on what planet do you have to live on to put a camera into the fridge and then tell people "most people probably won't experience overheating." It's insane. Like, that's not reassuring... At all! -
I can't say I've ever really felt like 4K from my GH5 didn't look good enough when watching it on my 55 inch 4K television. Really most of us aren't watching on TVs that display 4K to its full potential anyway. I don't see a huge advantage to 4K over HD, though I do see an advantage. But it's not huge watching from a normal viewing distance. I think I'd need a much bigger TV to really see a huge difference. That's not to say that they shouldn't downscale 8K or 6K to 4K if they can, but I would prefer beefier data rates personally. That has been Sony's biggest weakness, even more than color and poor IBIS.

You didn't set up the gimbal correctly then? That's weird.

Why are you sharing things you don't bother to watch?

What's Technical Artists angle? Ad revenue?
-
I think Sony is just concerned with keeping Sony users in the Sony ecosystem with this release. And I think they'll mostly succeed, given the issues/concerns with the R5.
-
Probably cost. The specs explain the $10k price tag, but it also probably covers the increase in sensor costs since the camera itself isn't wildly different than previous URSA cameras, using most of the same tech.

I'm sorry, I can't hate a dog picture... Putting in my pre-order.

I'm impressed that a camera didn't overheat in air conditioned buildings.

You're not wrong, I was just sharing my experience.

When I had issues with the OG Pocket I had to deal with them over email, but they were pretty quick to handle things. I sent them the camera, they said they couldn't fix it but would send me a new one, which arrived in 2 days. I don't think it took longer than 10 business days total, which for me wasn't bad at all though for high end clients they might need quicker turn around times.

Cool.

Proof? And why do you care if others want to talk about it?

Armando is such a shill. Are these shipping yet, or was he rewarded for that embarrassing video where he defended the overheating and mocked those that were concerned about it?

I have no desire to have multiple different camera set ups for my work. I'm quite happy with my Panasonic cameras, they check all the boxes currently for my pro-wrestling, commercial, wedding, and corporate work. I'm not using my gimbal for pro-wrestling where I'm running around a venue for 4 hours 🤣 I'm not the one that started the thread, I was just giving my experience to the OP.
