  1. No, but if I had $10k and needed a cinema camera it'd probably be my leading choice, given the versatility. You seem quite angry at a company releasing a camera that clearly isn't marketed for you. Not every camera is going to be geared to you and me. My guess is that an 8K camera will be released relatively soon, in a much more competitive price range.
  2. That's good then man, buy the C200 instead. I'd never use AF for such work, too risky.
  3. I've never used AF for interviews, even when using cameras that have good AF, so I can't really relate to that need.
  4. How is a C200 or C300 a better tool for stock footage and interviews?
  5. For someone like @Neumann Films I can imagine 12K is very tempting/useful for his stock footage work. Basically makes it future proof for years and years to come.
  6. The MacBook Pro being able to play back 12K BRAW was impressive, too. Resolve being fleshed out into a full editing suite might be one of the most brilliant moves they have done, long term.
  7. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Not every camera is going to be geared towards us brother
  8. I don't see the point of 12k personally right now, but when you compare it to other cameras in that price range, yes, $10k for a 12k camera is a bargain. You're not going to find anything like it in that price range.
  9. It is, but it's in the range of a lot of people that never would've dreamed of being able to get 8K raw, let alone 12k.
  10. Is Grant OK? His left shoulder is having spasms.
  11. If it's another Pocket variation they NEED to use a bigger battery or I'm not interested. I loathe rigging up an external battery solution, I did it with the original Pocket and never again.
  12. Ton1eh kills me every time. The last video of theirs that I watched was that one that birthed "Toneh." couldn't take him seriously after that one.
  13. 12 MP is more than enough for 4x6 prints and web publishing/social media. Not saying it'd be my first choice and I don't think many would be using the A7siii for serious photography, but it's doable for some things.
  14. The people defending Canon seem to have a problem with people expecting the bare minimum from a camera. No one expected unlimited 8K recording (I'm not sure why this was brought up in a post about the R6 but OK.) Everyone expected some limitations on such a feature, but they didn't think it'd be "hey, you can record for 20 minutes in *70 degree* weather, but then you'll need to let it cool down for 20 minutes to be able to record for another 5 minutes" or whatever the numbers are. Why didn't any of us expect that? Because it's not practical! And if a company knows there's that big of an issue, one should expect they'd do more to remedy it BEFORE releasing it to consumers. If you can't match the functionality of a 3 and a half year old GH5 then what are you doing? And full frame 4K without a crop isn't an excuse. Asking for a camera that doesn't overheat isn't unreasonable.
  15. Yes, so remedy that by providing cooling like the S1H did. Canon is choosing to launch cameras with overheating issues. I disagree, as these two cameras were clearly marketed to video shooters, but even if all that is true it sucks and doesn't make complaints any less valid.
  16. I think the A7iii's price had more to do with it than the lack of PDAF.
  17. Specs are cool. So is having a reliable camera. There's really no excuse for not adding cooling mechanisms if you know that overheating will be an issue. It kinda blows my mind that people don't get that part.
  18. I don't think that's why they are skipping PDAF. I don't know why they are, but I don't think PDAF would be enough to overheat an otherwise fine camera. Maybe I'm wrong though?
  19. I understand what you mean but, to me, it's inexcusable that they didn't adapt to these issues and instead just decided to release it as is as a way to try and hurt their competitors. To me that's the real motivation behind this release and that sucks. Inevitably there will be people that create lovely work with this camera, as can be done with pretty much any camera released today, but we should expect more from these companies. Limits should be expected, especially as boundaries get pushed, but not at the expense of basic functionality.
  20. You know what Panasonic did when they released a camera that needed active cooling to prevent it from overheating? They added a fan and vents. Why? Because it made no sense to offer all the features of the S1H if it couldn't handle it. It was a choice to go this route.
  21. It really is insanity to see people justifying the overheating. Why? Because Canon literally could've done more to prevent it! They made a conscious choice to not put anything in the camera to remedy the problem. I get that Canon users feel some form of vindication that they're finally "innovating" (I guess?) after years of complacency, but come on! This shouldn't be acceptable, whether it's Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic, etc.
