  1. What will they be used for? And how often? Iron Film will kill me but if it's for really basic use look into something like the Sokani Tiny/FotoWelt Air (they're the same.) It doesn't make a ton of sense to spend hundreds on a wireless system that will not be used very often / will only be used in a small area. If it's going to get heavy use then definitely look into the Sony system.
  2. The first thing I did was buy a Vello grip for the GX85, it was a must for holding especially for my big hands.
  3. I'd consider getting an even wider lens if you're able to. That 12mm is about 18mm full frame equivalent, right? I use a 7-14 on my GH5, mostly at 7mm (14mm FF equivalent) for the work I've done. Ultra wide is generally what they're looking for.
  4. Handbrake/Vidcoder's decomb and Bob does a pretty solid job on most things. It's probably the easiest unless you're familiar with something like AviSynth.
  5. Whether the R5 meets expectations or falls short, it's going to be an unbearable time as people gloat about how right they were. Same thing will happen with Sony Battle lines are already drawn for a camera that hasn't been released and a camera that is in development. Seriously people, get a grip.
  6. I work with a lot of SD footage still and I never "stretch" it. I do, when mixing it with HD footage, upscale and crop sometimes but only if there's not a lot going on in the clip and the framing looks OK, like a talking head. I usually pillar box it if there's action going on. Depends on the project. If you're just remastering stuff I'd do it in it's native aspect ratio. If you're putting it on YouTube I'd probably upscale it just so you get that bump in bit rate, but definitely keep the 4:3 aspect ratio.
  7. I don't have experience with either, but have you considered looking into ways to power the Godox SL60w outdoors? I've been looking into it myself. Having a powerful external battery also will have other uses for me that make it appealing.
  8. What I love, and wish more companies would do, is the SSD slots. Especially on these bigger cameras there's no reason not to skip the SD/CFast cards and go with SSD instead.
  9. 🤘🏻 You'll get much more life outta them! It does! For a really small, portable recorder it really is powerful. I kinda regretted not spending a little more on a Mixpre at first but I've come to really appreciate the size and ease of use. It's quite a versatile little recorder. I even let my friend use it to record stuff for their music album during quarantine and he was really impressed. He's used to using a recording studio, but those are expensive! He just set up sound blankets and loved the results so far.
  10. Are you using rechargeables? In the menu you can choose which kind of batteries you're using. That helps a bunch!
  11. Not at all. I've done it regularly to very good results. Bonus is I have the H6 recordings as back up to boot!
  12. I think a lot of those folks long for the old Canon days. It has been my experience that those are among the most interested parties when it comes to Canon releases. They'll always have a soft spot in their hearts for Canon and I think a good number have been looking for a reason to go back.
  13. They'll complain, but they'll still buy if they've stuck with Canon this long. From my experience the people leaving Canon have primarily been video shooters, or at least those that lean on the video side more than photography side. I don't see a lot of weddings photographers using Sony, for example. They're going after the market that is most vulnerable to leaving Canon / have left Canon but can be won back. Most of those folks didn't leave because of Canon's hefty price tags, they left because of how far behind they fell. And while I'm skeptical over whether it's a better camera, the R5 being roughly $500-1000 more than the S1H doesn't seem unreasonable if you're looking to spend that much anyway.
  14. They did post a video today Looks like no continuous AF in video. At least not yet.
  15. $4999, $4500 minimum. They know it'll do well with their current customer base while bringing back some of the customers they've lost. They have no reason to go lower.
  16. I mean, at worse it's a sign that Canon is alert and realizes they need to step their game up.
  17. It's kinda wild how quick people are to trust Canon won't disappoint them, given it feels like only 6 months ago they were getting blasted for removing 24p.
  18. There has to be some kind of caveat. It seems impossible that they'll be able to deliver these specs without compromises.
  19. It's great. I've got 3. Paired with a Glow EZ Lock softboxes from Adorama they're incredible value!
  20. These lights are great. I still use them quite a bit even though I have my Godox SL-60W. I'd definitely recommend it for those starting out or who need some affordable, good LED lights! It was really the first budget LED I worked with that I felt was worth it. The ones I'd worked with before gave a nasty green tint.
  21. I use both the GX85 and G85 with my GH5 and indeed, they all match wonderfully
  22. It was actually Caleb who had his HDMI die!
  23. When it comes to them I've had better luck with their other equipment than I have with the cameras I've used / owned. It's why I have been hesitant to buy another camera since having issues with multiple OG Pockets. I've had two people I know of that had their HDMI ports die on the Pocket 4K and saw a YouTuber just recently post a rig build who mentioned their HDMI port also died. I'm still unable to get the latest version of Resolve to run as well as the last version, particularly in multicam. I went from being able to do multicam cuts with 4K footage to not being able to do it with even 1080p footage without massive amounts of dropped frames. I'm glad they exist because they're pushing the industry forward, and when things work right they are lovely, but yeah, there are considerable issues.
