I believe it does. He talked about live switching in HD and then mastering using Blackmagic Raw in 4K afterwards. -

Whatever it is it'll probably have terrible battery life! -
I'm comparing a late 2019 Sony to a late 2013 GH3... All I asked was, why is IBIS on Sony cameras so much worse than everyone else's? Is there different implementations going on? Why does it do almost nothing in video? I watched a Potato Jet video this morning. Canon's digital stabilization blows Sony's IBIS away. What makes everyone else's IBIS so much better? It's just really, really weird.

My buddy is staying with me for a couple days because he's been dealing with some personal issues and didn't want to be alone. I asked him to bring his new a6600 because I've been wanting to play with it. It's probably because I'm used to the GH5 but I was really taken back by how bad the IBIS is. I broke out my old GH3, which doesn't have IBIS, and we compared the two. The a6600 was only marginally better. It handled the micro jitters better, but it was still really rough overall. Is this solely a body size issue? Or is there a different reason why their IBIS is so much worse? Is it software related some how? And is there different implementations of IBIS, meaning is Sony's implementation done differently than say Panasonic or Fuji?

3-4 years ago Sony was second only to Panasonic when it came to preamps in these kind of cameras. But like with everything else everyone has caught up. With that said, for most work the A7iii will give acceptable results. For the other work an external solution is an easy to implement.

It's a wild time to be alive, one where people trash socialist policies but then are relieved to hear they're going to get a free check to help them out. It's a confusing time.

1. Nationalism in all forms sucks. 2. I think everyone has their own reasons for why they'll take a break from posting here. I'm sure many of those mentioned will show up again. People get busy, burned out, etc. 3. Re: Trump, it's becoming increasingly hard to look past people's continued support for him. Part of it is partisanship, which is toxic in its own right, but if you can't see the racism, the bigotry, the cronyism, the greed, the lack of human decency, etc. Or, worse, look beyond all that to find the "positives" about him, what is one supposed to do in response? Ultimately it's depressing that the paradigm has shifted so much when it comes to political discourse. The bar has been lowered so much that to partake in the discussion at all means you're probably going to get covered in human feces. COVID-19 will come and go, but that unfortunately is here to stay for the foreseeable future.

Western governments are criminally negligent over Coronavirus

The media is flawed, but in this instance I'm not sure what people wanted them to do differently? If anything I feel they were too conservative and probably should've been pushing even harder for answers/action. That's kinda their role in a functioning democracy. It's easy to talk about "personal responsibility" and all that other stuff, but society has shown repeatedly that people have shitty judgment and don't look at the bigger picture. You need only look at the beaches in Florida last week; those people's actions will go on to impact far more people than themselves as they go home and spread it to people. It begs the question, why was it allowed to happen? It shouldn't have. -
I've heard very good things about the Movo blimp. It's even cheaper than Rode!

You're correct, he didn't use the word hoax. He implied that statistics were "false." I misread. https://www.vox.com/2020/3/5/21166031/trump-hannity-coronavirus-who-death-rate The way the head of the pandemic response team resigned would indicate he was dismissed. No one wants to take responsibility for that, for obvious reasons. The rest of what I said is true.
-
Fact: They literally fired those in charge of the pandemic response team and disbanded it. Fact: Trump repeatedly downplayed the crisis as it worsened. He even used words like "hoax." Fact: Trump has repeatedly lied and spread disinformation about the disease, our testing ability, and our response efforts. Fact: the United States is lagging behind when it comes to being able to test people. I don't think you really care about reality, so it doesn't make sense to engage you anymore. You're not rational.

Nah, he's definitely an idiot. Having adept skills at some things (self promotion, being a successful confidence man / grifter) doesn't negate his refusal to acknowledge facts, accept responsibility, and problem solve/adapt to rapidly changing situations.

50 people get mowed down by guns: now is not the time to talk about politics. Global pandemic happens, made worse by an incompetent President and administration: now is not the time to talk about politics. 🤷🏻♂️ It is IMPOSSIBLE to confront and find solutions without understanding what causes the problem to begin with. Your political beliefs are your political beliefs, but they don't mean a. That you must support or defend someone because they're "on your side", and b. You don't get to pull the "let's not make this political" card when the situation is inconvenient for you.
-
Has anyone checked on Jon Pais, by the way? I hope all this hasn't hurt his creepy women watching.
-
It's not about hate, it's about wanting competent leadership during a global pandemic the likes of which most of us have never seen in our lifetimes. Our president is an idiot. If you can't get beyond your own politics and realize that then you're the one with the problem. It is literally, in the literal sense, impossible to deal with this in any meaningful way without addressing the idiot we have as a president. His incompetence has contributed to this mess here in the US, and he has been among the leading source of disinformation. His other awful qualities really aren't relevant (like the racism) but they certainly do not help.

Reliable auto focus is obviously nice, but people really have become obnoxious about it. I see it on YouTube, where people regurgitate the same talking points (even GH5 users will say the auto focus is "awful" which is bullshit; its perfectly usable in a lot of situations), and I see it here when people beat the dead horse about auto focus for every camera that doesn't match Sony or Canon's performance. It goes without saying that we'd all love great auto focus performance in every camera. BUT I'll see people write off other cameras completely because the auto focus doesn't nail the completely unrealistic / unnatural tests where people pop in and out of the frame like morons on a camera that's completely stationary on a tripod or because it takes too long to focus on an object you've decided to place in front of the camera instead of using b-roll that will give people an even better view of the item. I've filmed hundreds of pro wrestling events on my GH5. Each one featured faster, more unpredictable action than any silly YouTube test. Do you know how many important shots I've missed because of its "awful" auto focus? None. Because, like with all cameras, you learn to overcome its shortcomings with use and experience. And in venues where lighting was poor, making the auto focus less reliable, I've gladly used manual focus because it's easier than ever to do, with all the focus assists most cameras have these days. I don't believe in making things harder than they have to be, but learning how to get the most out of your camera, including learning how to become competent with manual focusing, isn't a bad idea.

The GH5 is one of the best cameras released in the last 20 years? It's auto focus is leaps ahead of GH4 and has improved even more in firmware updates.

Are we sure they're not setting us up for a really nasty April Fools joke?!

I've really come to appreciate 85mm lately. 170mm on my GH5, but the Rokinon 85mm T1.5 is lovely. I got it free with my LS300, it's wonderful!

My gigs are all canceled so... I'm pretty fucked. Can't fault them, I totally understand, but this sucks.
