  1. Depends what he wants to do with the photos. For online publishing and small prints 12MP is adequate, I think.
  2. I dunno, I am pretty happy with the 10 bit I get internally... You're welcome for my deep analysis!
  3. 4/3 Rumors is reporting that the LX100 mk II will be announced on August 23. https://www.43rumors.com/ft5-panasonic-lx100ii-announcement-on-august-23/ No specs yet, but fingers crossed!
  4. His attitude towards @Kisaha has been terrible and completely unnecessary.
  5. @MdB seems to just want to argue. He called me a sheep and I don't even shoot Canon or have any plan to! He seems unable to process that people actually hate the ergonomics of the a6xxx cameras and prefer a more traditional DSLR body. Weird guy and a bit of a jerk.
  6. I know this isn't what you want to hear but it really is worth paying more now for something that will last longer than to get something cheaper that you'll need to upgrade from soon, especially when it comes to laptops that can't be upgraded. I love budget options, but my editing systems are usually the one thing I don't skimp on.
  7. No, I haven't, I was simply giving my opinion that the ergonomics (as someone with larger hands) and the Canon color has me more interested in it than the a6500. I'm sorry for not "contributing" enough to your liking.
  8. I dislike the Sony a6xxx ergonomics, so yes, the M50's ergonomics are better in my opinion.
  9. I haven't noticed an issue with the Panasonic 7-14, wonder if it's because you're using an Olympus lens?
  10. If you're going to stick to editing in Premiere then I'd go with the Dell. There's really no reason to use Premiere on a Mac, you'll have more power, etc. with a PC. Do you know anyone that has a Mac and FCP X that you could use to test to see if it's something you can get into? There is a bit of a learning curve, one I've never been patient enough to get beyond, but those that do swear by it. Overall I'd just figure out what you want to edit with and make your decision from there.
  11. I've been extremely happy with the Moza Air and GH5, especially since the latest firmware update. It'll come down obviously to what you can live with/without obviously, me personally though I'd prefer having b and c cams that can do 60p 4k and 10 bit even if I have to deal with the crop. It's why I end up using a friends GH5 a lot as a b cam instead of my G85 and will probably end up buying one myself in the not so distant future. I love the G85 and its great for a lot of projects, but more than a couple of times I've been in a position where I wish my second shooter and I both had a GH5 because something came up and we both needed those key GH5 features. Wrestling events can be extremely hectic, so you're never really able to prepare no matter how much you try. Either way I'm jealous about whatever set up you go with
  12. H.264 and H.265 are probably the direction you'll want to look in if ProRes isn't what you're looking for. Because they're highly compressed they're not as easy for some systems to edit, so you'll want to keep that in mind.
  13. Ultimately I think Oliver should consider versatility; he'd cover pretty much every base with the EVA1, GH5S, and GH5, with auto focus being the only thing he can't really make up for. His options are pretty much limitless when his 'b' and 'c' cams would have features that aren't too far off from his 'a' cam and could easily be swapped in and used for a lot of the work he is going to be doing.
  14. It feels as though you're more interested in attacking me, as opposed to what I'm saying. It's great that you don't need these features shooting your hobbyist videos in the cafe or bar you frequent, but they're incredibly useful for many of us. The bulk of my work is for independent wrestling organizations and wrestlers. Getting footage of the performers doing their signature moves, flying through the air, etc. in 4k 60p is a huge part of what I do. The Sony a series cannot do that. I don't need to intercut 1080 60p with 4K because I have a very capable camera that can give me the extra resolution AND frame rate I need. That's kind of the point. I do green screen work for those same organizations and wrestlers. 4k 10 bit 4:2:2 blows away anything the Sony cams can do for this kind of work. It's simply on a different level. They are, as I said, things that I simply could not do with the A7iii and a6500. I'm not sure what part of that is difficult for you to understand? These are similar things that Oliver talked about doing himself. My experience I felt was relevant, so I shared it.
  15. Honestly, if you were just talking EVA1 vs FS5 mk II I'd probably agree with going with the Sony for most of the reasons you gave. But as an overall package, man, I just think you're going to be able to get the most out of the GH5 cameras in more situations than you will with the A7iii and a6500. As someone that has used the GH5 for lots of chroma keying, event coverage, sporting events, documentary, and commercial work, I've been able to do things with it that simply aren't possible with those two cameras. I'd cry if I didn't have my 4k 60p and 10 bit 4:2:2 for a lot of that stuff!
  16. Have you been kidnapped?!? Much of that might be true, however 10 bit 4:2:2, 4k 60p (adding the ability to do 4k slow motion with his b and c cams), 6k anamorphic, etc. are all features that the Sony a series simply can't match, whereas many of the Sony benefits can be closely achieved through adapters, etc though obviously not matched. The GH5s is a very capable low light camera, and gets very close to full frame with a speedbooster / adapter, which he's going to be using anyway since he wants to use Canon lenses. I just think it makes more sense when you're going to be doing a lot of chroma keying, slow motion, and studio work to have b and c cameras that are far superior for that kind of stuff, while also being more than adequate for other jobs (I've used sets of GH5s for live multicam streaming sporting events, and they worked beautifully, especially when not hindered by recording limits when going back to do a cleaner / better final edit.) The weaknesses of the GH5 and GH5S can be dealt with pretty easily, whereas you simply cannot achieve with the a6500 and A7iii several important things you can do with the GH5 series, most of which are so incredibly useful to the type of work he has said he's doing.
  17. You might get similar results but not identical. Like IronFilm said, they all have specific uses where you'll be able get the most out of them. I believe that Curtis Judd has done reviews on all of those you've listed, so I'd check out his YouTube channel.
  18. I own most of these ha ha. The 7-14 is a great lens, though the f/4 isn't ideal and you're not able to add any filters easily. Even in video the auto focus isn't a problem, mostly because everything is in focus due to the aperture. It doesn't have a ton of distortion (though it does have a little) at the wide end, which is really nice. I wish it were weather sealed though! The Sigma 16 mm is a beautiful lens, possibly the sharpest native MFT lens ever, however you might find instances where it simply isn't wide enough. The Samyang/Rokinon 12 mm is a great lens, though it's fully manual. It also might not be wide enough for you all the time. I don't have the 15 mm. The Laowa 7.5 mm might be a good option, depending on how wide you want. I don't own it but have seen a few videos on it.
  19. I don't know, I've really been blown away by the EVA1 footage I've seen. And I really do think the GH5 and GH5S will give you greater flexibility than the a6500 and A7iii. I can see why the Sony is tempting, but overall the Panasonic package you talked about is stronger I think. There are simply things you can't do with the a6500 and A7iii that the GH5 combo can, whereas the only things they have over the GH5 combo is better auto focus and low light.
  20. The click bait is getting a bit out of control. It's making me less inclined to "surf" YouTube more and more, which has narrowed the amount of new content I discover in favor of just focusing on select channels. It's nice that I can at least do that, however it's become extremely limiting. As far as YouTubers, there are those I enjoy (mostly those focused on video and photography) and then the rest, which I pretty much ignore. Outside of my video / photography interest, I really don't watch videos centered around actual YouTubers/vloggers. I just don't find those people to be that interesting. If I'm not getting some kind of educational value from their video, I just don't find most people talking to the camera and showing their exaggerated life to be that interesting. I think one of the major negatives about YouTube is that it has enabled unfiltered megalomaniacs like Jake Paul. In "traditional" media those types were coached or filtered out so, for instance, they don't show a fucking dead person that committed suicide for lulz and views. While it's a more honest version of these people, I think most of us would appreciate not being reminded they exist more than we already are on a daily basis. It enables them and feeds their delusions, and I really want nothing to do with it. Creatively it has been both a blessing and a curse. I've learned so much from watching certain YouTube channels. At the same time it has retarded creativity, resulting in a legion of people that copy the same look and style as your Peter McKennas and Casey Neistats. That's incredibly disappointing. Don't even get me started on the politics and monetization bullshit, ha ha. I know it sounds like I'm being excessively negative; I do appreciate the value and possibilities of the platform. But those things have really have started to bother me more and more.
  21. I think the sensor is the issue. Much easier/efficient to stabilize a smaller sensor.
  22. I feel like people are way too caught up on full frame. Will Panasonic and Olympus come out with a full frame camera? If they feel the market demands one, then yeah, it's inevitable. But is it required? I don't think so. I'd honestly be happy with a Super 35mm sized sensor with a M43 mount, like I have in my JVC LS300, because with full frame will inevitably come larger / heavier lenses and I'd prefer not to deal with that. As a M43 user I've really never felt like I was missing out too much shooting with a smaller sensor. I'm much more interested in better auto focus; if Panasonic could get it on the level of Sony or Canon I'd be extremely content. If they can come out with a FF camera that's great, too, but for my uses, it's not a requirement.
  23. Cernovich is definitely alt right. He's made multiple inflammatory statements about race and identified as alt right, only doing an about face after Charlottesville but hasn't changed his views at all.
