  1. super moon / blood moon tonight. Busted out the canon 500mm mirror lens. clouds were all over the place and blocked my view of totality, still did get one nice image that i liked. Conditions permitting next time i plan on filming with the p4k as opposed to taking some stills. May even have a new / second mount which will open thing up. The peaking on the om-d mark two is really quite helpful. Quite happy with the way its working out.
  2. your a bad bad man, mark romero 2 😀 might be good business for armourguard, guarding all those lens collections. Although i think i have done my bit for humanity, redistributing the wealth during this corona virus.

    bmp4k adventures

A story of two tokina's, Big brother, little brother. Don't worry too much, it will a short story. The tokina atx pro 28-70mm is a nikon mount the tokina rmc 35-105 is fd mount. I have two viltrox adapters. the one pictured here is nikon type and has no glass. The other is an ef speedbooster. i also have a fotga fd adapter, no glass. With those three adapters i can pretty much mount all the lenses i have accumulated so far. Been pretty happy with the atx pro, so decided to add the older rmc to the collection as well. Plan on using the rmc for a dolly zoom shot. I figure the slightly wider zoom range would be advantageous in a dolly zoom shot. Have to shoot outside abit more with them. I presume its the same for everyone life gets in the way of the stuff we'd like to do. more to come later
  4. I presume that's how it works. so i'm guessing we both can't be wrong. 😁
  5. be careful of what ? if i can acheive some thing similar i'll be happy. I know its a vintage lens and price wise its the cheapest lens, i have actually come across in quite some time. You can watch a bunch of youtubes on lens reviews and they'll all say they got it cheap and then you go search for it, its 4 times the price. this lens is actually cheapish even when you factor in the aussie dollar. the lens flare might be the only interesting thing in its arsenal but for me its worthwhile for its price.
  6. im not addicted. I just want one of every interesting lens, that i can lay my hands on 😇 google is no longer my friend. Accidently found a nikon lens that flares with lots of little circles. i will say that i am somewhat enamored with lens flares. Its price is quite realistic, cheaper that the last couple of lenses i have bought anyway. So it will most likely get added to the collection. In the meantime i'm sposed to be saving for btm's miraculous p4k lens controller thingy but lenses keep getting in the way. 🙄
  7. they have all gone up 🙄 i am looking at buying one fast 50mm f1.2 then I'm calling it quits on lenses. Well thats the intention anyway 😉
  8. i reckon, youll hate yourself later. 🤔 still good luck with the sale.
  9. It's another tokina. The 35 -105 rmc zoom. No idea if it has any parentage with the tokina 28-70 atx pro or not. It's pretty much mint, the zoom is a touch tight at the close end. Took a couple of photos on sunset. There's a bit of a water theme as it rained today. If I push down on the lever over the L switch the whole fd mounting falls off from the lens
  10. obviously alexa's are jealous if their exerting some sort of bullying tactics on studios to create contractual clauses to lock the poor old gopro out. I see it as a tool, maybe not the greatest tool ever, but a tool no less. As you have stated it has been used on real productions, so i rest my case 😛 Perhaps my expectations are low, sorry if that offends you. Still i'm much happier to throw a gopro around rather than my p4k. I presume i'm not alone in what i would risk with a cheaper camera, compared to a dearer one. I feel you have misread my intent if you have concerns about the form factor. I merely stated that i could mount a 4k action camera to my drone. I did not say the bmmcc didn't matter. If you mount a bmmcc, taking lens and anamorphic, then i doubt that drone would lift it. I do have some dastardly plans to mount a letus anamorphic to the 9 and then to the drone which excites me because i know i can lift it. Feel free to ignore my invites to the world premier. 😉 Did you know the bmmcc compared favorably with an alexa before you bought the bmmcc or learn that afterward ? Thanks for raising the issue of intercutting, hadn't really considered it before, but now i plan on shooting with the p4k and gopro tomorrow and see what happens.
  11. I know he answered my question. In fact i counted on btm being rather prompt in his response in this forum. But i wonder if someone finds his website from another link if they are able to get that information so promptly, not much on the idiegogo site. Perhaps a short message on indiegogo saying, prepare yourselves wave 4 is about to descend, would be appropriate for anyone else who wants to get in on the act. In the mean time i'll start saving 🤔
  12. I can get a gopro 9 on a mavic2 pro. Whether you call that cinema is subjective. Some would question the logic of mounting a smaller sensor on an already 1 inch sensor platform. Personally i haven't been infatuated with the look from the freewell or other cheap anamorphic options for the mavic, i do prefer the look of the letus anamorphic. Plus i already own it. I can turn the gopro to any position i like thereby giving me two shots for the price of one. Its not on a gimbal however the hypersmooth works a treat. the letus anamorphic is made for the gopro4, so the anamorphic needs a mod to make it fit the 9 but i think i have it sorted and hope to have it fitted shortly.
  13. May have a project coming up, where this could be advantageous. wave three is sold out. Pardon my ignorance but how does one purchase it now? Doesn't seem to be any clickable links on the indiego website ?
  14. From the outside looking in. Its been fun watching you guys troll each other, well thats what it looks like from here anyway. 5.7 k of views proves i'm not alone im my thinking either. Subjectively i thought we might have had a three way going with elgabogomez having a go, half a page back, but he seems to of bowed out. Sorry to appear so shallow and frivolous, but i'm now out of popcorn. So Before one or both of you have a brain aneurism. Can you agree to disagree ? else its going to degenerate into world war 3. Which in turn will put a dent in the coming zombie apocalypse, which is what im actually hanging around for 😉 It may not be readily apparent but i do have a fair amount of respect, for you two dudes and i think both of you have some valid points in your arguments , although most of it goes over my head anyway, and i really do have to wonder why theres all this friction, you blokes should be better than this.
  15. ok so i didn't initially click on the link provided but it leads back to some site Snaptube app is a free video downloader for Android. Browse & watch HD videos from YouTube, more electronic ham in a spam can. Appropriately downvoted
  16. If you can elaborate a little more on what you would like to do with it, i'm sure others can chime in with something suitable. At the moment a plethora of lenses fit your description from dreamy wide open to cold and clinical. Also dont be to quick to dismiss your kit lenses. I'm sure there's plenty of interesting stuff shot with kit lenses.

I suspect you know all of this already, but i posted it for posterity 😉

I think youtube is both a boon and burden in this regard. Boon in thats there plenty of footage available to view, however a burden in these guys are probably inadvertently pushing the prices towards the stratosphere, in some cases. I'm also adverse to some of the tactics some of them use that get mentioned on the forum from time to time. Still i'm old enough to be cynical about most of it, and i take a grain of salt with everything online anyway. I have a theory that a lens that was good for photography in its day, should also work for video. Except perhaps a lens that has bad ( breathing ) thats the only thing that springs readily to my mind. As theories go it might no be up there with Einstein's general theory on relativity, but for a jumping off point it works (for me ) anyway. Feel free to elaborate or build on my framework as you see fit 🙂 I think the internet is great for research, at times it can feel abit hit or miss finding those gems. I'm a long way from suburbia, ebay is my friend. Sadly i have no affiliate links for you to buy from 🤣. If i had a concern about a lens with ( say dissolving bearings ) i would send a message to the seller seeking clarification, so far, that strategy has served me well.
  19. i'm embarrassed to confess... i have a botched attempt sitting at the back of my desk. Not too many issues with a prime, but i come unstuck with a zoom. Fiddly little buggers 😳 It sits there to remind me about biting off more than i can chew at times. One day i might get it repaired if i stumble across a suitable repairer. not sure what age i got a camera but the last film camera was a canon t90 which still works. never dropped a lens in all that time. Everything made by man can use a little maintenance from time to time. Thats just how it is.
  20. i'm the opposite i guess, i do enjoy a good flare 😀 its been awhile since i checked ebay... Those prices seemed to of really jumped up. In aussie $ i could get a 50mm f1.4 ssc for $150 or so the 50mm f1.2 jump up to $500 for an average one, then an L series starts at like $1000. Should probably remortgage the house, buy a couple and pray the price keeps going up. 😀 the thing is apart from some models having the dissolving bearing issue, most vintage lens should last a good long time. When you think about it vintage stuff is made from metals that are machined with close tolerances and are rotating less than 360 degrees, with a supply of grease. Most likely you could call that pretty much, the optimum situation for a machine. Barr working in the artic perhaps. i think the bigger problem is lens reviews like mark holtze and zenography waxing lyrical on the youtube reviews. Still i cant complain.... perhaps i myself, should have jumped on the bandwagon earlier 😉
  21. ah i was more interested in how it flares in the sun. Its no big deal. Cant really afford an L series anyway lol
  22. @noone you ever try the lens for flares ?
  23. If gerald and other noted social influencers are interested in product sales from their affiliate links isn't it in their best interests to Shepperd people towards which ever product is the most suitable for their field of endeavors ? Regardless of whether its for a niche field or more mainstream. a sale of a product is better than no sale, i would tend to think. Maybe thats just me 🤔 The flip side of the coin is their either biased or have reached some sort of understanding with a couple of the manufactures perhaps. Don't laugh, but i once bought a nikon v1 purely off the first advertisement i saw about it, sounded like the best thing since sliced bread. 🙄 i was quite agitated when less than 18 months later they decided to can the whole system. These day i like to garner a whole bunch of reviews before i make any sort of decision. People are going to watch these influencers buy a camera and then probably learn in a short period of time, that it can't do everything that they wanted to try. It seems to be the way of things. Spend some money, learn the hard way and then next time put some thought in it, or simply give up, as its all to hard. I actually think that camera manufactures must wear some of the blame here. Firstly some of their marketing tactics leave a lot to be desired. Secondly our phones are pretty much all singing all dancing and there's not much you can't do with a late model smart phone, if you put your mind to it. Yet cameras seem to innovate kinda slowly and while you can buy a camera it will have some functionality but will miss out in other areas. No camera manufacture wants to make an all singing all dancing camera it seems. Personally i think the most productive thing you can do is continue to educate people. Even if it seems like your pushing a barrow load up hill at times. Try not to make it personal as you'll end up having a coronary and its just not worth it.

    Lens Weight

Nice play on words no0ne 😀 Bizarrely I am considering how I might accomplish such a thing. First thought was a ex meth lab flask 😉 with maybe a simple lens at the end to help focus and a pinhole to top things off. Food for thought. Perhaps the next challenge should have a home made component to it.

kye, in keeping up with the spirit of your reply. May i suggest, light as air, Flares like a beast, takes that digital edge right off, sadly no aperture. A man of your talents should have no problem mounting it to your camera of choice. 😉
