i have the 15mm f8 oly on my new e-m10 mark two, if i could find the 9mm bodycap lens at a reasonable price i'd probably buy it too. i'd hesitate to call it my sharpest lens but it does ok. For a go shoot project its probably ideal. I did lash out today and layby a 12mm f2 olympus lens which will be the most modern lens in my bag of lenses. Took the camera on a 4 hour round trip to the big smoke and tried the lens in store. it should work well with the mark 2 on the little crane m2 gimbal. Not the most fun thing perhaps but i am enjoying the little m2 gimbal i bought. i can throw either the s20 smart phone on it or the gopro or Olympus e-m10 mark ii with a lens 300 grams or less on it. that covers all my bases except for the bm p4k. Lets face it, while not everyone is a fan of the floaty look of gimbals, anything that reduces the cloverfield look of anything i shoot is a good thing, and compared to a millers tripod quite a bit more affordable at the moment.

finally had some action happening at the bird feeder. Its been some time since i built a bird feeder and placed it at the end of the garden. Some locals finally showed some interest this afternoon so i got out the with the bm p4k and the canon 500 mirror lens Pretty warm day today with a gentle breeze, i think the mirror lens tends to compress things quite a bit. which isn't that surprising. I got a bit of heat shimmer happening, that may be the mirror lens exaggerating things, i'm not quite sure. i'll have to try it again in the morning see it that makes a difference. the birds had a really bright red feathers, they were quite vibrant, not sure if i have brought that out in my grading but i gave it a try

well its been some time but i sort off got one project finished. been back at work on and off for the last 3 weeks been learning to run a waterjet, which has been handy for my own personal projects and i learn faster when its something that involves me. Not sure exactly what the correct term is however i cut a circular slot in a piece of alloy with the water jet and had a local welder make a bracket out of it. Bolted the dof scale i made, on top of it and bolted the whole contraption to a pa speaker mount, results are below. It needs some sanding and a coat of paint but its finished enough to use it. used the s20 for initial tests, i am actually a bit surprised at the dof the s20 can obtain i would have thought it would have been wider

another test of the olympus m10 and the p4k bit of a time difference between sessions. really nice conditions that night the best so far. barely a breeze. I suspect the best footage i will obtain will be with a full moon and no wind and better tripod. Still im happy with the progress, even if it is incremental.

try https://www.flickr.com/groups/homemadelens/ perhaps this will help

better conditions last night, two static images one from the p4k and the other the olympus e-m10 mark 2. The first should be from the p4k the second is the olympus. The olympus has a slight crop applied, oddly i would have thought the olypus with its 2x crop as opposed to the p4k 1.9 crop would have meant a slightly larger moon but that hasn't been the case for me. theres also a good chance that the issue could lie with me so i'll spend some more time on both. I have read that winter is a better time to photo the moon as the air is cooler and less turbulent, time will tell. Ideally i'm looking to get some footage of the moon with less apparent air disturbance, than the clip i posted earlier.

Got my eye on an OLYMPUS M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 17MM F/1.8 LENS. Weight wise it comes in at 120 grams well within my constraints. Its digital so throwing it on the camera and then the gimbal should allow auto focus through gimbal or phone app as I understand it. Being mft i should be able use it on the p4k as well I presume. Any thoughts ? Has anyone else owned one ? All my other lenses have been vintage lenses and no communication with the camera. So its all a new learning expirence I guess.

the moons back so i bolted up the mirror lens to the p4k and took a few shots. I do think theres a bit of atmospheric turbulence last night, it was kinda windy, confident it wasn't the tripod. I will however tie a brick to the tripod next time, just in case and hopefully with no winds i should get some nicer footage. I'll try the lens with the e-m10mark ii as well just to get some experience on both cameras

Looking for a wide angle lens . currently using the olympus15mm. However I'd like something with a variable aperture. There is a weight constraint. I have bought a crane m2 it can stabilise 720 grams the em10 comes in at 390 grams I think. So I have 330 grams to play with. Type of lens doesn't really bother me vintage or modern. Something modern might be lighter and be easier to use if it works on the camera and can be controlled from the gimbal. Any suggestions ?

Kye, i spotted one Russian lens that i own and a couple of takumars as well i think. Waiting for the moon to come out and play and I have some other ideas that I want to try out with the mirror lens as well. I did enjoy the link that iron films posted as well

One could imply the same thing about nz and a certain other country 😉

i do have to amend a statement i made earlier. The specs for the em10 mark ii does indeed say it has magnesium alloy, i guess that just the chassis as if it were the outer housing i wouldn't be able to press on it and make a clicking noise. 🙄 It is still pretty damn light either way. Looking for a small camera bag to suit as the best camera to use is the one you have with you.

I'd have to agree with that. and I liked the other justice league movies as well. I guess I won't bother adding ww1984 to the DVD collection 🤔 -
Lucky you 😉 my new olympus m10 mark ii only goes to 8.5 fps. I just checked, Which doesn't actually bother me overly much. I think i can run the bm p4k at lower frame rates than 24 fps if i so desire. There may be a video challenge in something along the lines of a slower frame rate. That's sure to be interesting with what people come up with.

its a burst mode right ? not sure which cameras could do that continuously ?

I saw it. Did my patriotic bit to bolster the flagging economy at the local cinema. Which i might add is an hours drive away Even paid for my brothers ticket, but I let him buy his own confectionery 😁. Far as I'm concerned its pure escapism nothing more, nothing less. If you want to brainwash me with feminism or inverted gender crap well you'll have to break out some electrodes and intravenous drugs. A movie isn't going to do it. -
First test with the p4k and the 500mm mirror. Static shots are the way to go at the moment it seems. Even then it it doesn't take much to jump around. To be expected i guess, Still a new tripod head and or tripod may help remedy that i hope. It was a rainy overcast day which kinda dictated how things developed. I did discharge a battery, taking footage of the water drops. those droplets are quite tenacious, they can sit for quite awhile before dropping. Thirty seconds of some plants in the rain if your bold

Some idiot Didn't add a tripod socket to the p4k base. Well it was more of a case of not having a 1/4 tap, remedied that on saterday. Ready to go now. The moon should be up later tonight i hope to shoot some footage with the 500 mirror and the p4k.

first two photos are the 24mm takumar running through a viltrox speedbooster the next 2 are the pentax 85mm 1.9 through the viltox as well. the last is a crop of the third which shows some glow and c,a i think, could be the speedbooster contributing not sure at this point more tests to sort it out later. The other option is to close it down a little.

A new addition has joined the family. Mindful of the safety first rule. Got it for the bargain price of $400 new from harvey norman, since their discontinued i guess their trying to get rid of them. Most places seem to be $700 or more. its a mark ii which i am happy about as its the last one that has the remote cable port. I do like the silver black look, quite retro. down side is its plastic and if i push on it the plastic clicks one one place but then it weighs next to nothing. Which will be a bonus. Its quite tiny. I dont seem to have any trouble with my fingers and button placement given its size. Ordered a cable remote to fit in with some plans i have. More to come.

Got out and about yesterday with the brother and sister visited queen Mary Falls. Here's the first slow motion I have shot with the s 20 Straight from the camera. No editing or grading. Make of it what you will.

Been playing with the mavic 2 pro a bit. Had the gopro 6 attached and did a short test flight while filming from the gopro. I did have a connection issue between radio and drone. I could control the drone but after taking off i could not land it so basically had the drone hovering 600mm of the ground waiting for the battery to go flat. A little after it hit 1% it landed and powered down. A bit nerve racking at the time but I have flown it since and its been all right. Added a hard case for travel in the car. Spent some time making sure everything fitted nicely.

Actually there are two companies at least that provided other lenses up to the 6 at least after that I'm not sure. Back bone make one and maybe rage cams. theres also a max mod for the nine. Which seems to be some sort of lens mod. Haven't really checked it out.

I got an i9 with 8 cores , a case , water cooler and a gigabyte z490 then promptly run out of funds. As soon as finances allow I'll buy the other bits 🤔 should be better than an i5 laptop which is the criteria it has to beat.
