should be a stock item from blackmagic design. I imagine it would be cheaper to buy from a retailer rather than someone who's listed one on ebay, best to check around for pricing.

I'll check the version number that came with the p4k. I kept everything in the box under my desk. That version wasn't very stable on my laptop and fell over alot, later versions ran ok up to 16.2.1 There's probably a good chance some of resolve falling over was due to my laptop but later versions worked ok so it seems odd to me that the first version i had wasn't stable. By the way.... I'm excited, i hope your all excited, because i'm excited. Got some money today so i lashed out on a piece of alloy checker plate to aid product reviews i plan on doing. Did i mention i'm excited ? Couple of quick and dirty photos to highlight the potential. Seems to me the a lot of products are black, cameras are black, lenses are black, torches are black, my tv and stereo are black. I wanted to lift the base somewhat and add an industrial element as most of my photos tend to be dark at the bottom The most reflective thing i could find at bunnings was checkerplate. I quite like how it throws light around and allows the camera to be more defined. Seen someone else online do a similar thing so i cant take any credit for it.

Minimum system requirements for macOS macOS 10.14.6 Mojave 16 GB of system memory. 32 GB when using Fusion Blackmagic Design Desktop Video version 10.4.1 or later Integrated GPU or discrete GPU with at least 2GB of VRAM. GPU which supports Metal or OpenCL 1.2. Minimum system requirements for Windows Windows 10 Update 16 GB of system memory. 32 GB when using Fusion Blackmagic Design Desktop Video version 10.4.1 or later Integrated GPU or discrete GPU with at least 2GB of VRAM GPU which supports OpenCL 1.2 or CUDA 10 NVIDIA/AMD/Intel GPU Driver version – As required by your GPU Minimum system requirements for Linux CentOS 7.3 32 GB of system memory Blackmagic Design Desktop Video version 10.4.1 or later Discrete GPU with at least 2GB of VRAM GPU which supports OpenCL 1.2 or CUDA 10 NVIDIA/AMD Driver version – As required by your GPU it was kinda late when i read the notes, i may have latched onto the linux release notes by accident which does requires 32 gigs. I do feel the memory requirements have jumped upwards as resolve worked ok on my laptop up until the 16.2.1 then it got sluggish. The memory upgrade will drag me up to minimum specs again However after that it will be awhile till i start chasing the rabbit again. sorry for any confusion

downloading the latest resolve version however i think i'm temporarily rolling back to an earlier version as the current version 16.2.1 and the version im downloading require 32 gigs. Ram has been ordered however the guy that runs the store has no idea when it will arrive as apparently corona virus has messed things up nicely and that was two weeks ago . Resolve does run and it hasn't fallen over yet, it does tend to be rather sluggish. The whole, is it running, will it finish or fall over is annoying to me ( not that i hold bmd responsible ) i just want it working like it did before in a previous version. Considering my editing is at a rather basic level, living with an earlier version isn't an issue for me. Teaser photo of the canon lens, still waiting for the adapter, should be here by friday i hope. I dont imagine it would be a cinematographers first lens choice. I have a couple of projects in mind where this could be useful. It does like mint inside and out. Once the adapter arrives i should be able to confirm if i got a bargain or not. Actually just had a brainwave i still have a canon t90 in the cupboard i can mount it to that and check out the optics. Initial impressions are, looks like i got a bargain i'm a happy chappy at the moment. Considering the pretty average light bulbs i have, things look good. while i have the t90 out, heres some vintage action for you i had forgotten what lenses i had looks like the fd mount will get some use after all

No full frame available for comparison, besides isnt ignorance a kind of bliss ? In all honesty i bought vintage lenses knowing they have "character". I know i lose some of that "character" with the crop from the p4k, but is that a good or bad thing ? I guess that depends on the individual and what sort of look they like. Thinking about the crop really bugs me i know their full frames lenses and i'm losing some of that "character" however its simple physics that comes back to my choice of sensor. Before the fear of the crop turns into a full blown phobia 😲 i got the viltrox speedbooster which has been enlightening (no pun intended ). Probably should have got a plain nikon adapter before now so i can do some comparisons between non speedboosted tokina and speedbossted tokina. My sister wants to call my place, arse about ranch, which will give you some idea of how ordered i am 😉 All said and done i am rather enjoying the tokina 28-70 atx pro however. getting back on topic i did find one of those xray lenses For $1000 aus, bit pricey for my tastes at the moment + pulling the camera apart is putting me off after seeing your last efforts with the action camera 😟

i do like the backdrop or whatever it is the camera is resting on 👍 i sure do hope that thing gives a large chunk of increased battery life. For me its reminiscent of some of the old film slrs with their add on battery compartments from the 80s - 90s very retro, brings back a bit of nostalgia, but that could be just me. I know some people aren't a fan of the shape however i'm not bothered by it. Whats the extra weight like ? I imagine those ninja assassins who want to run and gun may not be particularly impressed but then maybe the increased weight adds to the handling ? Shame it wobbles, could you put some thin rubber / foam between the camera and battery to help take up the slack ? Like a shoe inner sole (preferably new ) their pretty thin. I know you shouldn't have too, but a wobble may result in a lost shot depending on your shooting style at some point, A wobble would definitely annoy me. I'm actually onto the mark two base plate for mine as i want to hang a stepper motor of it for a project thats coming up plus the fact the mount i bought doesn't seem to tighten up and the camera and lens rotates pretty easily. One thing that may interest you is, i did dl the 6.1 p4k update. Some time this week i'll have a go at putting the older version back on the pk4. I have no idea if it will go straight back over the top of a newer version or not, but i'll let you know how i go. edit : btw if you get sick of that voightlander, ship it to me and i'll hang the elmoscope of the front of it

no challenge, just winners all around. But if you want to be creative and mix it up abit, knock yourself out

On 6/6/2020 at 12:00 AM, heart0less said: Dear lens enthusiasts, I plan on doing a showoff of my adapted projection lenses with a little comparison to 'normal' consumer glass. Initial plan was to put the camera on a tripod, put a tiny something around 70 cm in front of it, then have a human subject (most likely me) sit around ~ 2m in front of the camera and, finally, some deep background with just a bit bokeh in it. Rack focus between those three. Time and place of shoot: golden hour, somewhere outside, non-controlled environment. No color charts (I don't have any), no corner-to-corner sharpness tests. Maybe I'll manage to put an anamorphic adapter in there, too. A visualization of what I have in mind (apart from the color chart): Examples taken from this test. i'm thinking out aloud, if a few people could do something similar with their lenses, that would be quite a treasure trove of information.

wow your quite organized, must take all the fun out of it 😉 i'm more mix and match and sometimes i'll miss something that maybe should have been more apparent, but its not the end of the world stuff, usually 🙄 found one in sydney should be here before friday. It was a bit of an oversight i will admit. Still i have been experimenting. I now know i need to have quite a sizeable bonfire to light an area. Which has dictated a change , we are now moving to 205 litre drums, a couple of smaller fires rather than one huge bonfire which will make things more containable and less chance of me setting the state of qld on fire.
-
well you are bending light rays quite a bit, its easy to imagine things going pear shaped with all that glass. Still maybe the image may be suitable for you back in the days of film i vaguely remember that 1.4 teleconverters were preferred to 2x with some lenses because of the optical qualities. Of course that may have been applicable to some brands more than others. the only way to know for sure is to do some experiments of course thats all the harder if your in no position to try it yourself
-
with 1.9 crop on the pk4 won't the crop hide some of those nasty corners ?
-
you have given me an idea for an experiment. I can do something similar with the pentax m42 gear i have already. Of course it wont be quite low light, but a bonfire should make it a bit easier for the pentax 50 1.4 to see

one of those Handevision IBELUX 40mm f/0.85 Ultra-Fast Portait Lens for Micro 4/3 Mount #E461 sold on ebay a couple of days ago ITEM PRICE: AU $630.13*Converted from US $439.99 for those that might be curious. That ibelux flares weirdly. i was a bit disappointed with the performance of the canon 55 f1.2 but perhaps the diopter or focal reducer or a combination of the two, threw it off a bit do you think ?
-
what sort of motors are you talking? i'm about to lay my hands on a couple of bigish stepper motors for experimental purposes.
-
awesome thanks. I did have something of an expirement / project lined up to play with dng's a while ago, might be time to revisit the idea

the canon fd lens has turned up more than a week early which is a bit odd, considering aus post are claiming to be overwhelmed with parcel deliveries, however i'm not complaining.🤔 It does highlight another issue, no fd to m43 mount adapter. So i'm off to ebay to find a cheapish fd to m43 mount, hopefully i can find one in the country otherwise i'll be waiting awhile if it has to comes from overseas. The cardboard Box is a bit soft and has taken a bit of a beating, 🤕 i hope its been packed well. Ok i couldn't wait any longer, i have opened the parcel and and it all looks good, well packed and still mint looking. At this stage it looks like i snagged a bargain. Cant do much more till the adapter turns up.

i have the original as well. I wonder if bmd have the original firmware available for dl. Not some thing i have worried about before. if i wanted to sell it and i cant think of any reason why i would want too, but it would be a bonus i think to have the original firmware available on a usb stick.
-
Well that makes my whole kit is basically inferior optics 🙄 7 pentax m42 lens and 4 fd lenses. Since i like them and i dont know any better i really cant complain 😀 Actually thinking about it i'm vintage as well but lets not go there. Without frankinsteining your lenses i dont think theres much you can do to change a look apart from filters. you could try some of @Tito Ferradans mods that might help but it probably easier to search different lenses till you find a look you like and buy one. most are reasonably priced unless you want some thing at the really wide or telphoto end of things

fancy pants eh ? this isn't likely to microwave anything to death that one might find in a pair of fancy pants, right ?

is this something to do do with that lidar thing you had going ?

bizarrely i find it easier to dual focus using it on the canon 60d shooting photos is easier, the video aspect is a little soft. Putting it on the p4k and dual focusing is / or has been painful. However that may have been my eyes and had issues with headaches recently which hasnt helped. I think i have the headaches sorted now or at least they have settled down. taking lens wise i have been using pentax m42 85mm f1.9 and other lenses in various focal lens and some other weird lenses like the nikon 63 enlarger lens. on the p4k. From memory i can go down to 40mm focal length before it vignettes. 35mm vignettes but may still be usable if i crop, yet to try that. Im desperately trying to save for a fvd16, i talked to someone at rapido and the the fvd16 will fit the elmoscope type 1. Getting the fvd 35 would have been a bridge too far at the moment at double the price, so thats the next step. I have pretty much chronicled my journey in a thread called p4k adventures, not much video footage but there's more info there i guess. hope that helps

i kind of think if the 1/8 is too weak, then perhaps it can be enhanced in post. You have dedicated a whole thread to making something from nothing, not that i am knocking your efforts at all. My mentality is its easier to physically fill a hole than it is to dig a hole, so if i carry that over to the digital realm i would rather add than subtract. I feel that for my way of doing things, its better / easier (perhaps) to do it in camera, then if you have to enhance it in post you have that option. damn it kye, now your costing me money as im now curious as how a 3/8 would work and how it would compare to a 1/2 and i dont even have a 1/8 yet 🙄 actually for a bit of a theological side debate, do you guys feel that an image will hold up longer if your add "effects" to it as opposed to subtracting an "effect" and it would break sooner ? Hmm not sure i articulated that well enough, hopefully you get the idea
-
thanks for that info heart0less. I think for now a circular 1/8 in 58mm will cover most of my lenses and is cheap enough to experiment with. I kind of like a subtle look, less is more, well that's the way I'm leaning at the moment 😀
-
i'm curious is the bpm 1/8 the weakest filter strength ?

i have been watching the neewer 1 meter slider with 6 bearings. It should be quite smooth i would imagine. my only concerns are by the time i add a taking lens anamorphic lens and its 15mm rail support weight might be getting up there, however with the carbon fiber tubes i could at least fill them up with two part epoxy should they start to flex which should help counteract any flex. The other issue is its jumped from $105 since i started watching it to $138. Not alot of money i know but then theres not a lot of it to throw around either at the moment.
