    bmp4k adventures

some of you are no doubt aware that there's a bit of a drought going on in australia at the moment. I have access to a well on a bush water reserve across the road from my place. This place is normally abit of a swamp but at the moment the water level is down about 18 feet. At the moment i pump about 500 liters out of it every few days for stock and domestic. Not sure how the other locals are faring with the water situation i moved an old bath next to the pump and top it up every time i pump water. the plan is to hammer a few star pickets in and hang the gopro of them and timelapse it all, see what turns up for a drink.
  2. i have 4 and 6, didn't bother with the 7. Can't find the enthusiasm to buy an eight. Some people on here didn't like the 7 at all. the eight uses the same battery as the seven which is handy if you had a seven, but the addition of the external mic and vlog screen will set you back $139 us each... ouch. i'll pass.

    Girls on film

At the risk of getting gutted by kaylee, i'd like to mention i have seen some new movie trailers for a movie named hustlers. it looks rather interesting. Seeing its a big screen release i assume its has a bit substance than most of the other stuff thats been posted in this thread. looks like an interesting take on women getting some of their own back on wall street. i googled it seems like rotten tomatoes liked it but audiences were less favorable, anyone likely to see it ?
  4. occupational health and safety would have kittens if they saw that ? you could top it off with a misting spray bottle that would have to take 20 degrees of the temp at least ? i have 2 options for you retro and modern

that covers pretty much everything i cant afford ?
  6. wow, whoever used that lens before had some serious intent about the lenses not falling apart, like caleb said its not really an issue if it is stuck at infinity focus, as a single focus solution will fix that. If its not at infinity focus you may have a problem. You may also have a problem if you wanted to use it dual focus till a single focus solution turned up. Depending how competent you are as a handyman, you could pull it apart. or get it serviced perhaps but that might cost near as much as you paid for it.

don't worry already done my research on that aspect its the tokina 28-70mm in nikon mount its quite popular as its reportedly an Angénieux copy. i think only the nikon and pentax versions have aperture rings the other versions are electronic. i guess i'll just buy the mount its only ten dollars

looking for some feedback, my villtrox has turned up, had the pentax 85mm mounted to the villtrox which becomes a 170mm with the crop factor on the p4k add the villtrox with 0.71 and that brings it back to 120.7 mm if my math is right ? my real issue is i now want to get a nikon to ef adapter so that i can mount the tokina 28-70 to the villtrox. Since i know zip about nikon. Am i correct in assuming that nikon mounts whether ai,f,n except dx are the same mount with different functionality ? as i understand it, I think i'm after a simple "dumb" adapter mount to get me from nikon to ef, not sure the electronics would talk to the pk4k through the villtrox either but i would be manual focus anyway. I have a Adapter for Nikon F AI lens to Canon EOS EF lined up for $10 just wanted to check first that was all
  11. ok thanks, i'm thinking it might be the os. Once i reinstalled i got a virus warning from the the phone straight away, however i clicked on it but it didn't remove or change anything, your not trying to secretly take over the world or anything btm ? ? I have another msg saying there's another update available for the phone os. I'll install that later and see what happens.
  12. thats a lot of links emanuel. Are you an ambassador ? ? this lens could be quite interesting may have to keep an eye out. If they can get it done for 700 euro that might translate to a reasonable price here in aus. Bit sad its only 1.33 but i don't think that's a deal breaker. For me its more about how it flares more then out of focus high lights, While i like a nice blue flare for night time and scifi i think it would be awesome for one to flare red for sunsets or sunrises. I have seen iscorama's that do it but their way out of my price range usually. if sirui could make one with red flares well i.d probably buy one in a heartbeat.
  13. looks like you have another project btm ? would you want to add any smoothing ? depending on the length of sound sample it it might get kind of choppy cutting it in half. just thinking out loud.
  14. not sure if its relevant or not, but i am pretty confident that mike oldfeild uses dsp on his tubular bells 2 cd. He get some sort of pulsing effect, how he does it is beyond my pay grade https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDp-xpN7Xqg the dsp starts at 3.30 in i think. hope that helps also in the movie, baby driver, the driver records and chops up conversations to make music so its doable, but i dont know what software you would use
  15. emanuel, you really should stop parking in the disabled parking bays ?
  16. it does sound odd, maybe the guy who sold it to you had a single focus solution mounted to it. I have an isco gottingen anamorphic, light golden in colour. Its pretty tight, it takes both hands to turn the focus ring. Rather than sort it out i bought an elmoscope but that may not be an option for everyone. One day i might get it sorted. If it has a distance scale on the front then the front should bloody well turn. Have you had it long? can you send it back for a refund ? some shcneider anamorphics had an odd setup where to adjust focus you needed an allen or hex key to turn screw on the front to adjust focus not sure if isco ever did something like that however
  17. Hey Btm-pix ever had your 3c app uninstall itself? just went to use it and it was no longer there. had to reinstall it kinda curious for any insight I think you will like it ?
  18. i may not have explained myself properly. Personally i have nothing against instagram influencers, my issue, is people being paid to do a job then spend the next 8 hours checking their social status every two mins. i dont see that as productive. People might argue that its boosts morale and their more happy and productive but thats a load of crap.
  19. er.. i was thinking more along the lines of integrated gps, internal nd, folding tilting screens, vlogging and stills, all the little things that different companies supply individually in different models, but not as one complete unit. However i'm not interested in hacking a phone and cine camera together. i see a lot issues with anyone getting any sort of production done if their checking their instragram account every two minutes i dunno, btm_pix should be able to motorize it, hang a jib of the top of it and you'd bet set and a coldie close at hand, whats not to like ??
  20. i must be shallow, i have nearly the whole set on dvd?. I find them lighthearted entertainment. Life throws enough drama my way during the day, i dont need to watch more of it on a screen at night. I guess i'm after the escapism aspect most are so far fetched thats it a load off the mind for awhile. Perhaps thats just me. i reckon barefoot_dp might be onto something with his theory, but its an industry it gives people a job, so who am i to begrudge them and they get paid for it some more than others no doubt ? edit : my first thoughts were that this is a mature age gent from a different era and i'd expect his views to represent that, and i am fine with that, but then i think of stan lee who wrote alot of this comic stuff he was also a mature aged gent. So now i'm thinking its like a perspective, none are really wrong its just what works for the individual.
  21. i dont think i'm taking points away from the bmp4k, rather consider it as user feedback and mostly i'm pretty happy with it, just in case there was any doubt out there. I certainly never said it was or wasn't run and gun. My style isnt running and gunning, actually my style doesn't include any running at all if i'm honest ?. A lot of machines are heading towards multiple use, dual purpose functionality, take smartphones for example, heck even a fridge can connect to the internet these days. I reckon the first camera company or even upstart company that loads up on features in one model will clean up. They may sell less models but they will sell more of one kind. As they say, build it and they will come.
  22. it must be nice to have the luxury of several cameras to choose from and i thank you for your insights. Coming from a total newbie perspective. For me the p4k is a perfectly capable camera. The ui is easy enough to work out, you get a free editor. the battery life is ok, not outstanding, but ok Maybe the picture isn't as organic as the original but its still a great picture none the less. Originally i wasn't a fan of the screen brightness when outside, however if i take my phone outside i cant read the screen on it either so complaining about screen brightness is abit silly in hindsight. My only grievance is that there is no tilting or flippy screen. Perhaps i'm a spoilt brat, the thing is my canon 60d made in 2010 has a folding flippy screen, what the marketing department was telling the boss i have no idea, i do believe they got that rigid screen totally wrong. But for $1200 us or $1850 aus its still a pretty impressive camera. No camera is perfect, but you can always rig the camera up to make it more applicable to whatever it is you want to do.
  23. How do you know what bikie's watch ? my money says it isn't bambi the movie. Which brings us back to the issue what people are watching and what it is doing to some peoples minds. Limiting the issue to just cinema fans is kinda narrow minded. Movies and other content can be watched anywhere these days. One could argue that anyone thats ever turned on a tv, hired a dvd , been online or been to the cinema is a movie fan at some level. Every house in the developed world has one tv if not more. Got school aged kids you have probably got a couple of ipads or laptops as well. Nick fury must be the only person in the world that still has a pager most everyone else would have a smartphone ? perhaps i have generalized, dropping youtube, cinema and any other form of visual media you can think of in the one bag. But lets face it, cinema is the oldest form. If you take exception to that and tell me that cinema is without some blame well... that would really dumb.
  24. allready has. Some muscle bound idiot shot at his ex then shot at a cop shop and finally shot at some cops, wounding one, only a day or so ago here's the story https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/public-urged-to-avoid-police-stations-in-sydney-s-west-after-reported-shooting-20191002-p52x4z.html personally, i think creating controversy for the sake of controversy isn't art or wisdom. You know the old sayings, garbage in garbage out, you are what you eat, that has to apply to the mind just as much as to the stomach. Clearly there are weak or susceptible minds out there and there's a valid argument that some of these movies are feeding those minds. Trouble is until those minds snap nobody has a clue whats going on or people that do say something aren't listened anyway.. After the mind has snapped its too late the damage is done and one or more people are either dead or wounded. LIFE is precious, all the evidence points to the fact that we only get one go at it. I'm not suggesting, we all hold hands and sing kumbaya but i reckon people need to start making a few judgements calls about whats wholesome for their mind and whats not.
