The korg nanoKontrol2 has turned up, had it for a few days now. i have watched a few youtube vids, got it working in resolve watched a few more youtube vids now have it integrated with windows. I now have the korg nanokontrol sliders setting the levels of the master volume and inside of windows media player and edge youtube volume levels. Initially i was using a little midi tray thing called ntTray which i quite liked. The file size was a whole 370kb. A tiny little thing, not sure if it was me and how i installed it or something else as it fell over pretty easy. Next program i found was called midi mixer a larger 84 meg. Still it seems more stable so far. I'm only scratching the surface controlling three sliders at the moment. still the korg has been a pretty handy addition towards an increased user experience. Another nice feature in midi mixer is on screen display, so the moment i touch a slider the program that has that slider as its focus and its level is momentarily displayed in the top left corner of the moniter, very cool. I do like having a proper fader for the volume rather than grabbing a mouse and having to click on something, So far a nice user experience improvement.

media division have or had a gh6 haven't watch the whole thing yet but thought some of you might find it interesting so has anamorphics on a budget and last but not least camera conspiracies
-
fairly certain, the gh6 will be way above my paygrade for the next 12 months or more, maybe even forever. In a similar vein to SinΓ©ad O'Connor 's, i do not want what i haven't got theme. I have a do not lust after, what i can't afford mentality. π³ Besides i a have a perfectly useable 4k cinema camera in the p4k. Should probably try to wear that out before i look at something else. Still i reckon there's room for another lens or two. One can never have too many lenses.π Plenty of natural light here at the moment, may as well use that π although i think a monopod may be on the agenda. Initial trials suggest, i find I'm not really impressed with the cloverfield look .

At 4.16 how did you manage to get @webrunner5to do a cameo ? π nice work that must some sort of mission to do that set, all the period items and suchlike. i'm building a lego set so i take my hat of to you guys for all the effort you all put in.

hmm, looks like you have your own model, i feel thats, like an unfair advantage, π and i thought we were taking this outside ? But considering its summer here, i guess the rest of the world is under 6 feet of snow. Still kudos for putting a something together. I'm still doing my storyboards. π One of your lighting shots came close to something i am considering doing. i am not lazy, i just procrastinate alot.

i thought we were waiting for a write up on the blog from the man himself, and some hard and fast rules ? the extra time has allowed a crucial piece of equipment to arrive however. Notice i didn't say winning piece of equipment π

things are moving along, i have something of a set now. Bit of an aussie theme because i can π table is setup right under a large shed light. Cant do too much at night as lots of bugs are attracted to the light which is a pain to clean up the next day. Gonna have to think it through a little bit more. Maybe close the roller door and run a fan perhaps. My dads been sick up in hospital for the last week. Which has put a dampener on everything, but thats ok. Just have to prioritize, once an illness comes up in the family. Track ball has turned up, its an interesting change from a mouse. Its quite a bit wider than a mouse, so there's quite a difference in using it i think. Almost the opposite to a mouse in some ways, instead of grabbing it, your spreading your hand out. May need to practice my live long and prosper, spock salute. its going to change working in resolve quite markedly once i get a feel for things i reckon. The korg nanokontrol2 is on its way, there was an issue at the start but i hope thats been sorted now. Ignore the crappy table top its now past its used by date, a new one have been purchased. I just need to hit it with some paint and screw it down to the old frame.

i was taking a more along the lines of actual guerrilla shooting, not paying for permits that sort of thing. Mums and dads is quite different and quite obvious as to whats going on. i'm not sure i'd call educating some security personal a failure. Sure its a waste of 5 minutes of your time however most of these courses are kinda rudimentary, and half the time its a second job for some poor soul. Cant see them covering the differences between mum and dads and guerilla filmmaking in the course material. For those of us who have nice gear and want to use it. I feel it all comes back to leading from the front. Take your gear use it where you can, sure you will be looked at, sometimes questioned even nocked back at times. For those time it may be wise to have a smart phone as a backup I reckon we just have to accept the fact that people will need educating. i do know if you want to clear a room either cough really loud or pull out a camera bigger than a smartphone. π€£ i had my p4k in the main street of town taking some footage of the old post office which has a large clock set into the tower. It amused me that people where actually crossing the street to go around me. Mostly women, which amused me even more as women generally goto great lengths to look good before they go out, then when they do come across a guy with a camera they head in the opposite direction π

i'm with you on the idea, that the law is an ass at times, kinda thing. Still rules are there for a reason. I think the term "guerrilla shooting" is a poor choice of words. I know it infers some kind of rebellious processes and sounds cool. I also suspect there's a few people probably a bit miffed having payed their dues and then others running around with ambivalence and flaunting a disdain for the system. If a person was shooting guerrilla style, that person is most likely being discreet about it. I think one should apply that discretion in the forums as well. By all means be positive about what ever features you find exciting in cameras. The whole announcing I'm going to go out to shoot guerrilla style, because i can, probably needs a bit of a rethink. The last thing we want to do is make things harder.

can we start a betting ring on how they plan to cripple it ?

Never thought to google it. Shows my predisposition to old school i guess. My cheap scales reckon 354 for the venerable 17mm smc that includes the metal lens cap and adapter. surprisingly the v1 comes in at 385 which agrees with google. if i add them together both a calc and the scales agree. i guess im in the heavyweight division of the mirrorless section, so nothing new there lol.
-
Now I know your not talking about meβ¦ I did buy some kitchen scales a little while back I could weigh my setup but iβd be over three hundred I reckon with the Nikon 1, adapter and takumar smc 17mm.

I think they have to adapt or stagnate. While there will always be a market for action cameras, for gopro to go much further they have to adapt or diversify i reckon. Maybe they will come out with a couple of optical lenses that click in 90 degrees like the lens covers do, that would be interesting. The nine may be my last gopro my tastes are changing. i have yet to use the gopro under water. So the waterproof camera thing may not be a big requirement next time i go looking.

There only 4 modes, motion shapshot, smart phot selector, still image and movie. i'm thinking its in still mode. Turn on raw, turn on the high speed electronic shutter, hit the shutter release button and let rip. Makes the most sense. All the other modes produce a hd 1920x1080 movie or image. I then presume you export the raw images to your dng converter of choice and go from there. more infomation has come to hand during the day. The v2 version of the v1 allows you to use non oem lenses of any type with the hispeed shutter. On my v1 only cx or native lenses work with the electronic hi speed stutter it seems.

thats very interesting. thanks for the memory jog although i dont think i saw andrews blog about it before. I was reading up on the v1 myself last night, different review, different site (sacrilegious i know, right? ) i did read about the burst mode on it, but hadn't connected the dots until you posted that link. I did find the battery charger and the adapter that allows me to use m42 lenses on the v1 last night. As well as the kit lenses i have, so i'm good to go. Im not sure about the raw format however. There's no options to change the movie format that i can see. A very quick walk outside and putting it in the correct mode... i think, produces a file with .mov extension about a second long which is what was expected. For further clarification we'd have to ask Mr @Andrew Reid about the actual workflow oh how to go about it.

ok ok i figured it out.... Mururoa atoll. Because that bad boy would have made some waves π
-
that model was called the guillotine...π³
-
actually the crop is about 2.7 before anyone calls me out. sorry my bad π³
-
heck we haven't even got to the rules yet!! don't tell me your done and dusted π
-
your right of course , any sort of adapter and a lens suddenly has a crop of 5 times or thereabouts from memory. Moon is up shortly i think. Not sure if i ever bought a lens adapter for the nikon v1 i did have intentions of getting one. i'll have to look through my boxes of goodies.

yours truly out and about, scouting locations, i'm thinking wolf creek 2.... into the bush taking talent resumes now . A once in a lifetime opportunity... π

i will not bore the group with the mundane details. I do however promise to get out and about this afternoon with a camera for some pre video challenge practice. π

Lots of orchards, vineyards here in my neck of the woods, quite a large Italian population. It makes me smile going into town and you run into an old Nona, because they cant speak a word of english. Normally they drag a kid or grandkid along to do the talking. To be honest i'm not much different to them, i couldn't be bothered to learn another language either. kudo's to you for at least living and working in another country.

Our humanity shines through pretty quickly these days. I suspect it may be covid related, being locked up too much. threads can wander.... i do agree with you this thread does take some determined intent to get through it. i think i'll hit the bed and sleep on it π

yer this old tony is good value. At times i'm so close to lashing out on a metal lathe, sigh some time ago i saw something on utube about peeling and coring apples with a cordless drill. That week an old hand operated peeler / corer turned up at a sale, i bought it for $2 had a local machinist turn up a universal chuck to fit on the end. That now slides onto my markita cordless drill. I can now peel and core a box of apples in less than ten minutes. one box of granny smiths now gets stewed and goes into the freezer to make apple pies for the rest of the year. One of the smarter things i have done or copied π i have been revisiting a couple of old vids and new for ideas on tables and work tables for my own personal use, geared towards video / photography. Depending how the next video challenge evolves and my interpretation, it may get some use. English is or will become the universal language eventually i think. Also i have done my time in a multicultural workplace i can understand how coming from different languages things get miscommunicated quite easily. So its never really bothered me when dealing with people from other nations in the work place. I do however hate it when people are lazy and try to palm it off on poor english and its usually pretty easy to tell. I have also seen good friendships ruined forever over someone saying something really dumb and not realizing it. Thats why i try not to get too excited over posts online. People can and will say dumb things from time to time. Getting agitated serves no useful purpose. I vaguely remember a saying about wrestling pigs, everyone gets dirty and the pig loves it. I try to keep that in mind when online and reading comments. As a bunch of film connoisseurs and to get back on topic, i feel this is particularly apt π
