Sigma Fp review and interview / Cinema DNG RAW
thebrothersthre3 replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Thats crazy, they should just call it internal recording at that point. This makes this camera much more attractive. Really no excuse for the S1H not to have this. -

Yeah I also am interested in the Pocket 6k, but I don't love the idea of 6k RAW, much rather deal with 1080p or 4k. Blackmagic only offers full sensor 6k though. Also the EF mount sucks. So you need an atomos inferno to record 12 bit DNG? -

This might be my next camera. Would of course be amazing if they can get a compressed RAW in there to save on file sizes. 4:1 would be awesome and 8:1 even better. -
Yeah auto exposure doesn't look pretty. I've never used auto exposure in my life though. I can see it being useful for a indoor to outdoor shot or something. I suppose it could be useful for event work. The S1H tops the XT3 but its way more expensive. The S1 is nice too but its 8 bit 4k 60p and not even full frame.

Canon 1DX III, FF 4k60p with 422 10bit internal

Is an external recorder needed for 12bit RAW? Or you just plug an SSD directly into the camera via USB-C? -
Canon 1DX III, FF 4k60p with 422 10bit internal

Why not? If you want to shoot RAW with auto focus the Canon C200 is your only option. Soon the S1H will be able to do Prores RAW, though the auto focus can't compare to Canon and of course once you get a monitor on there its no longer compact. Again the Pocket cameras can do RAW and are fairly compact but you don't get auto focus. So yes for its capabilities the 1D MK3 will be very compact. -

Compared to a C200 its compact. How else are you going to shoot anything tricky in RAW with something that size. You have the BM pocket cameras or hacked Canon cameras, but you don't have auto focus with those options. -

The S1H is cool but this Canon camera definitely makes more sense for the target audience. Canon PDAF is the biggest feature. Being also able to shoot RAW in a compact form is pretty awesome. -

Yeah this has DPAF and internal RAW, which puts it above the S1H. It better have clog though ? The price is high for hobbyist but for a working professional $6000 is no biggie for a one size fits all camera. The other good thing is this will force Sony's hand into the game. -

No tilting screen is pretty shitty. That said looks like finally Canon is putting out something competitive. I am sure it will sell like hotcakes. Wonder if it'll be S1H range or more like $6000. -
Z6 with N-log 10bit serious video flickering issue at certain ISOs
thebrothersthre3 replied to T.S's topic in Cameras
Curious to know what you think of 10 bit Nlog other than the flickering issue? Do you think its worth getting this setup over the S1 or even the XT3. -
I usually prefer highlight dynamic range tho

Probably more like a half stop but of course thats at base ISO exposing perfectly.

Hard to go wrong with Prores 422. I don't like using H265 as it takes way longer to render, at least on my system.

Smartphone shooting style vs traditional school
thebrothersthre3 replied to Emanuel's topic in Cameras
Yeah that does look really good. I'd have to dig through my footage and put something together! Detroit is a beautiful city. -

Yeah I use a focal reducer + fast primes to get that edge on my Fuji. -

Smartphone shooting style vs traditional school
thebrothersthre3 replied to Emanuel's topic in Cameras
Yeah there was one shot where I wasn't sure if it was an Iphone or Black Magic. But in general all the wides looked pretty bad. The lowlight is the biggest flaw. My Fuji is way better in lowlight lightyears, but I still am tempted to go full frame sometimes for that added stop or two. -

I was honestly surprised how bad the iPhone looks sometimes. Seems to do well with close ups, but wide shots look nasty. The sharpening is pretty terrible. I was expecting more. That said maybe there are after market apps that can improve the look, maybe bypass internal sharpening?? Otherwise its a hard no. The HDR seems to have a weird effect on the footage sometimes too, like it degrades the image further. -

Yeah definitely wouldn't want to use it for any serious photography work. Definitely targeted towards the SLR run and gun market to an extent though. -

And it does. Try using any other camera with those specs and its a much bigger rig. A pocket 4k/6k with the battery grip is still small even with a monitor. -
